The Sandman (2022)
Don't believe the bad reviews.
To start with , I haven't read the sandman books.
I have , however read other Gaiman books.
This is instantly recognisable as his work . Obviously I can't compare it to the books , but as a standalone series it's well worth watching.
The story is compelling , and the characters are magnificent in their casting.
If you are a Gaiman fan , keep an open mind , and give it a watch.
You won't regret it.
Dude, Where's My Car? (2000)
You need to see this.
Ok , it's not a 10 , but I needed to weight my review to counteract all the negativity.
It's a good , silly film. If you liked Bill and Ted and Wayne's world , you'll enjoy this one.
Give it a try , you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The plot? I'm not giving that away , watch it.
Stay Close (2021)
Not who you'd expect
Ok , so here we have a British thriller with a cast of medium-famous actors.
Armitage and Nesbitt pairing up again , but this time not as Dwarves , but as a photographer and police officer.
Not to give too much away ,it's a well written and populated series that'll keep you guessing til almost the last episode.
Many red herrings and false leads should keep you occupied.
It's not amazing , and some of the characters were a little flat , but it's well worth a watch.
A solid 8 out of ten for this one.
Mi chao (2018)
Absolutely appalling...
Found this little "gem" purely by accident whilst scrolling through an online movie subscription site.
Shouldn't be too bad, I thought. Kelsey Grammar and BingBing Li are in it , not A listers , but both accomplished actors.
I was wrong.
I couldn't manage more than 30 minutes of this drivel.
The story line was terrible , the characters couldn't be more cliched if they tried , the actors looked like they were reading off a white board.
And those are the good parts.
The effects looked like something out of an 80s action film (if they'd had crappy cgi in the 80s).
Avoid this at all costs ,don't believe the good reviews , they must have seen a different movie.
Jolt (2021)
Not as bad as the reviews suggest.
It's Kate Beckinsale kicking ass. What's not to like? The humour is a little forced , but the hormone fuelled violence is entertaining in a John Wick-ish kind of way.
D-Railed (2018)
Train to stupidville
Well ,I read the reviews and though , hey , I'll give it a watch.
Big mistake . Standard out bad , and slowly got worse.
The acting is appalling , the creature is abysmal and the plot?
The plot , well , if the movie was a body , the plot would be where the suppository went.
Honestly , I've seen some garbage "b" movies in my time , but this one..... it takes the biscuit.
Please god , don't let them make another one.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
Shadow of a doubt
The most ridiculous movie I have ever seen.
I've seen some garbage in my time , but the sequence about 50 minutes in to the movie takes the biscuit,
The laws of physics have not just been suspended , they've been booted out and told never to return.
To be fair , the lead actress does a stalwart job with the script , but apart from that , it's stereotype central.
Worth a watch ,if only for the creature , but I'd really give this one a miss if you like a modicum of realism.
It's one of the few movies I've actually not finished. I couldn't bear it any longer.
The Watch (2020)
Not deserving of the bad reviews.
If the characters in this series had different names , and it didn't say "inspired by Terry Pratchet" in the credits it would have a far higher rating.
If you view it as a stand alone series , it's well worth a watch.
It's not Pratchet , but it's pratchetesque.
The characters are good , the story is entertaining ,and the humour is present.
Give it a chance , you might like it.
Just don't expect the characters from the books..
Journey to Hell (2022)
What the ..........?
This movie came up on my Facebook page .
I'm not "god fearing" by any stretch of the imagination , but I thought I'd give it a go.
Oh dear . Terrible doesn't come close,
Maybe if you are a devout Christian that still believes in heaven and hell , you would enjoy this movie.
However , if you are truly religious you will realise this is hypocrisy at its greatest.
It truly is appalling.
Please , for the sake of all humanity do not watch this movie.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Really really over rated
Watched a few episodes. Can't see what all the fuss is about. The story was weak and the acting mediocre.
Far , far better things to watch.,
Cursed (2020)
It's ok , not a patch on The Witcher though.
Ok , I don't need to review the actual episodes , what I do need to do is put people right.
THERE WERE MANY MANY BLACK PEOPLE IN MEDIEVAL ENGLAND.
There . I've said it , now watch the show and make your own mind up.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Can't see why all the negatives.
Went to see this movie with mixed feelings .
I remember watching The Star Wars when it came out , so this conclusion was highly anticipated , but after all the bad reviews I wasn't hoping for much.
Don't believe the bad reviews.
Ok , the film isn't an Oscar winner , but , it's not bad at all.
Little bit all over the place for the first bit , but it's all explained intelligently and the movie ties up a lot of loose ends
I'd recommend watching it , if you are a genuine Star Wars fan , it certainly knocks spots off the last dismal entry in the story.
The Witcher (2019)
Ignore the negatives
What an amazing series. Cavill is spot on. Makes GOT look like a pile of poo. End!
Escape Room (2017)
UTTER TRIPE
The only room I needed to escape from was the room I was in when I watched this travesty.
All of the characters are irritating in the extreme , and you will find yourself praying that they all die as painfully as possible.
I kept hoping for a something , anything to happen , but no! It spirals from garbage to absolute garbage and continues to unwatchable.
Honestly , the worst movie I've seen in a long while.
As to the plot.....? Predictable doesn't come close
The acting? Abysmal...
Avoid at all costs.
Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Antie and Waspie..
We went to see this movie at the weekend..
Short review . It's worth watching.
Slightly longer review. An enjoyable Marvel movie aimed more at the younger audience. There is plenty of action and some of the set pieces are actually quite funny. Not as heavyweight as the other recent offerings , but still a good movie.
Ignore the reviews that say it's flat , it's not. Perhaps they we're expecting Macbeth?
The Ghost character is played by the female lead out of Killjoys. She is OK in this , but much better in Killjoys...
In conclusion , a good way to spend a couple of hours with your brain switched off...
The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)
I can't see why there are bad reviews for this movie.
A fine lightweight comedy movie starring two of the most popular actors currently filming.
Ok , the story isn't amazing , but the action scenes are well executed and the chemistry between the two lead actors is blatantly obvious.
Short review , but I wanted to balance out the negatives..
Pacific Rim Uprising (2018)
Popcorn action movie
Ok , this movie isn't going to win any Oscars , but Boyega and the rest of the cast do a good enough job.
The story isn't amazing , the bad guy is pretty predictable , and the outcome never in doubt.....
But , it's a fine way to waste a few hours watching giant robots battling giant monsters , and who doesn't like to see that now and again?
If you liked the first one , this is definitely worth a watch.
Not intellectual , and a couple of the characters are a little , erm , flat , but try it , you might like it!
