Multiple levels of irony in this tongue-in-cheek mock-umentary
18 November 2011
The story line summary isn't totally accurate: "Two best friends compete to be the best man at their childhood friend's wedding." While that's a major sub-plot, the meta-level story is about a too-big-for-his-britches videographer that fancies he's on the road to fame with his reinterpretation of a wedding video he's hired to make by an unsuspecting couple. The irony is that the cheesy video he produces (which is the film we see) is comically brilliant, though he meant it to be dramatically poignant. The double irony is that the REAL producers/director knew exactly what they were after when they created this little gem of a film. The director, actors and editors show great restraint with their true-to-format wink at amateurish film-making. Not rated; though it's mostly tame material it contains language and one mature (or immature) scene that, not surprisingly, involves a stag party.
