Splinter (2008)
Great Low Budget Horror! May contain spoilers
I love low budget horror to me its more genuine when u see a filmmaker stretch his dollar to entertain. This came out in 2008 and i cant believe i let this one slip by me. This is a very entertaining movie from start to finish really no slow points for me. I enjoyed the acting, the idea of the movie was great and wouldn't mind seeing a as equal made with another good script. I only have two complaints which doesn't really ruin the movie for me just because i enjoyed the overall flick. Number one, i would have like to have visually seen some more of the actual bodys ,there were to many quick cuts and shaky camera..i understand sometime that done to hide the budget of effects and its appreciated when needed but I think they could have shown us more of the Bodies and less of the scattering hand. Number two involves the boyfriend character was the reaction to the first hand walking was like there wasn't a hand crawling in front of you. Anyone would have been freaked out and then him walking out checking the temperature..i literally wanted to fast forward (dont keep checking the temperature just move a**hole. Anyways it didn't ruin the movie for me because sometime those types f things add to the experience of watching low budget horror. Great Flick 7 out of 10. M.
Beware (2010)
Something Special
Let me start by saying Im an independent horror nut. I rented this movie not knowing what to expect but maybe some good kills and something to past the time, but found myself watching what I think could be history in the making. Low budget slashers that fall in this category come and go and a few stick with you and deserve a sequel. This movie is one that deserves to be seen and to have sequels. This movie was made fro 75thousand dollars but feels bigger and is better then a lot of others with a bigger budget and no Soul. This movie has something special to it. the Killer is great hes a mysterious, menacing and pretty cool looking. It follows every slasher movie pattern, kids, town with a bad history, and Its not the best movie ever made but I watched it 3 times with friends and it just has something other bigger movies are missing. You heard it hear first. Matthew J
