Ghosts (2021)
Adaptation in its own right
After recently watching and binging the UK version (where I'm from) I decided to give the US version a try and as we all know that some shows adapted from each others countries can either be a hit or a miss, the US version does not disappoint for me.
The pilot starts off similarly but the show diverges differently including the characters and the direction of the show. I find myself drawn into enjoying the US show including the characters more such as Jay; who as we all know can't see the ghosts and I seem to like this version of Sam. They've managed to build on the UK version and spin it into its own including some plot lines that I've enjoyed watching which makes me say it's an adaptation in its own right.
Labyrinth (1986)
And the point of this movie was?
This is another movie I've not seen my entire life and I wish it had stayed that way.
I can't argue that the puppetry was amazing from Jim Henson. It's just been let down by a poor script written by Terry Jones from Monty Python, which baffles me.
I won't spoil all of it but we start in the movie with this young teenage girl called Sarah who obviously has a hard life with her Step mother, the tension I couldn't argue with, was there, as she's left to babysit her half brother Toby, whilst they go out yet again.
She is rightly angry at her half sibling and wishes for the goblin king (David Bowie) to take him away. So when he does show up to to take the baby away. She suddenly has this change of heart. Was I supposed to emphasise with her sentiments straight away of him not taking her? That's when the goblin king puts her on a quest to save her little brother from him through this labyrinth to reach his kingdom so she can get her brother back by a certain time.
The plot just ultimately doesn't make sense to me, especially at the end as instead of demanding her little brother back. She calls him 'the child' instead of 'my brother'. Plus the dancing scene with The Goblin King and Sarah doesn't really age well. Considering the age difference between the actors of about 22/23 years. But then again that was deemed appropriate back in the 80's.
The movie would have made a bit more sense if Sarah was connected to her brother Toby and had been kidnapped by The Goblin King. I'm really open to an adaptation of this movie and reboot it to fit that narrative and take out the dancing between them.
David was a really good actor. It was just a shame he was let down by this script.
Willow (1988)
Lacklustre
Wanted to see what the hype was all about but it's just a let down. It's a shame because Jean Marsh and Warwick Davis are fabulous between the pair of them. This movie did come out the year I was born so I tried to watch this with a fresh pair of eyes. However:
It's not a dark film in my eyes. I see it more as a comedy of errors, especially the death scenes, they are an absolute hoot to watch. Just very predictable and boring. It's a shame as I like fantasy films. But this one just didn't hit the mark.
Also what were those CGI moments about? Absolutely horrendous, even with the 4k update it just didn't sit well with me.
I didn't understand what the point of the Baby was. Could have replaced her with a stone and it would have had the same meaning to me.
Hard Cell (2022)
Watch till the end
A lot of you have rated it based on first episode appearance. But you need to carry on watching it until the end before you make a final judgment.
I don't want to spoil it for you but those closing last few mins, wow. Just wow. I knew it was coming but it made sense. The pieces of the puzzle fitted together.
So Netflix please bring us a season 2.
Aliens (1986)
The hero didn't win
The film was so boring not much action.
I'm really disappointed in the ending. It was anti climatic I was hoping the hero would win but no the villains won.
I feel so sorry for the Aliens. All they are trying to do is live a peaceful life and those silly humans go and ruin it by killing them all especially at the end. Should have just left them alone.
Line of Duty (2012)
Brilliant comedy
I was skeptical about watching this as I knew everyone was watching it, just watched the first season and it's a hoot to watch.
I am a bit disappointed at not seeing more action, but they are brilliant to watch how each character dies, it made me chuckle every time.
Thank you for the laughs look forward to watching the next 5 series.
The Simpsons: The Way of the Dog (2020)
Dog episode
Yawn. Boring story about the dog. Confirms what I think about dogs.
Banana: Episode #1.7 (2015)
Truth in the community
This episode hit me hard as someone who is part of the community being a type is so true. It's all about looks and not about what's good on the inside.
Tarzan (1999)
Disney started to Decline
This movie was just disgraceful. Boring story, the song by Phil Collins is awful. I don't understand what they were thinking.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Who wrote this garbage
What a yawn film, just so boring. Plot line boring. Not even Jessica Rabbit was the saving grace. What were they thinking. The whole thing stinks like yesterday's diapers.
All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 (1996)
Why?
I couldn't get through the first one and fell asleep 2 mins in. Snooze fest.
All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989)
Boring film
Boring film, I ended up falling asleep it was that boring.
The Simpsons: To Cur with Love (2012)
Worst episode ever
Not one of the best plots. I've enjoyed rewatching a lot of the episodes but this one was really weak.
Futurama: Jurassic Bark (2002)
Boring
It was a boring story. I just couldn't understand why this is so highly rated.
Family Guy: Life of Brian (2013)
I hate Brian
Used to like Brian but he's such an annoying character. Wish he stayed dead.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019)
They forgot to add comedy.
This show is comical. Maybe it's just me but I find this show funny.
Charmed (2018)
Too much negativity
Just because it's not the original, people are critiquing it and not giving it a chance. Let it come into it's own. I kinda like the updated version, it's different. Straight away I actually liked the dynamic of the sisters finding out they have a half sister who's older as it makes more sense than if she was younger. I like the youngest sister has telepathy instead of premonition from the beginning as well. I would like the charmed ones in this version to develop other powers as time goes on quicker than in the old version as it would be nice too see them as a force to be reckoned with.
