Designated Survivor (2016)
Season 2 Episode 11
I recently started watching the series. First season was excellent. The second season is okay. Although I found episode 11 to be a little farfetched. Armed Cuban liberation rebels, in a communist country, and calling Americans "capitalist pigs". Whoever wrote this script is completely clueless about the situation in that country. First episode, I actually contemplated turning off. Out of sheer morbid curiosity, I kept watching.
Skyscraper (2018)
Skyscraper - Towering Inferno
The movie is like a modern remake of The Towering Inferno (1974), with Steve McQueen & Faye Dunaway.
El tunco Maclovio (1970)
Great Western from Mexico's Golden Era in Pictures
I saw this movie around 1970, when it showed in a local theatre near downtown Miami, called "El Tivoli" which catered to the growing Cuban immigrant population. Of all the movies I saw in that theatre, this one has always stood out. First because it very similar to American Western movies. The main character played by Julio Aleman, is very reminiscent of Clint Eastwood in A Fist Full of Dollars or The Good The Bad and The Ugly. The movie has really exciting action scenes, specially considering the main character is missing a hand. Anyone who enjoys Westerns, will really appreciate this film. The director of this movie, Alberto Mariscal also directed the Hollywood film A Man Called Horse. Even the musical score for this film is of Hollywood quality. Although probably not rated, I would venture to say it is about an "R" rating. A little too strong at time for very young audience and there are some sexual situations. It the Spanish speaking circles this movie has developed quite a cult following over the years. This IS one of the classics from the "Golden Era of Mexican Films".
