The Mandalorian: Chapter 19: The Convert (2023)
What the hell Favreau?
Please tell me that Favreau is not trying to turn Mando into a slow burn 'artistic' show like Andor.
They give us a great beginning and punish us for the rest of the episode by draagggging out a plot that was as exciting as watching grass grow.
If this is the standard Disney is setting, they should consider either paying people to watch their rubbish or refund their wasted time.
If this episode was a movie or play, I would've asked for my money back.
Please do not try to turn this into a series like Andor which was as slow as watching paint dry. Not artistic, BORING and infuriating.
Disney / Favreau... DON'T GO THERE!!
If it ain't broke, Don't fix it.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Everything I'd hoped for as a life long WW fan.
Being someone who is a life long reader of the WW comics and a big fan of the character, I really enjoyed this movie. I'm actually really confused reading the other reviews and wonder if it's a trend of people jumping on board the hate train. This movie did more than capture what WW is about from the sense that although she is physically strong, her greatest strength is compassion.
No, it's not an avengers movie, it's different and that's the point.
It's refreshing to see a movie that doesn't recycle the same formula as other hero movies and sets its own pace. And that's from someone that is not a fan of the current DC comic / TV and movie trends.
Hated Justice League, can't stand the CW Arrowverse rubbish.
I liked the way this movie went to the trouble of explaining things that are part of the comic lore. The surprise cameo was not only amazing but managed with real class. I hope there's a return in the next movie with a longer part.
I don't care if I'm the only person that liked the movie, it was true to the essence of the character and I thought it was well done. Happy to see it again.
Sorry a lot of people just didn't get it. If you haven't seen the movie yet, do it with an open mind expecting to see something different and original.
True History of the Kelly Gang (2019)
Seriously, don't bother!!
This movie is definitive evidence that Australia have no idea how to make a feature movie. Absolute S**T.
Watchmen (2019)
Like Watching Paint Dry
Up to Episode 3... I hope this gets better and picks up soon or I'm just not going to make it to the end of the season. Shame too, Regina King deserves better!
Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan (2019)
Another Australian Film Disaster
As a novice historian, I was so bitterly disappointed with Kokada 2006 that I referred to it as KaCrap and decided I would never watch an Australian Feature Movie again.... until this movie came out. I had so much hopes that the Aussie film industry would learn from it's past mistakes. I was wrong.
The interpersonal dialogue between the characters as well as their demeanour is sheer fiction. Not only is it inaccurate but cringe worthy rubbish and an insult to the real brave soldiers who were involved.
For some reason the film makers opted for cheesy, stereotype, remade characters to achieve something... what exactly, escapes me.
Although most of the soldiers were conscripts, they were still professional soldiers and not as this movie has portrayed them ... a pack of dysfunctional idiots.
Dreadful dialogue and poor acting aside, the movie showed enough real facts to keep it interesting. (barely)
If you want to see a REAL and accurate portrayal of the battle and the soldiers ... have a look at "The Battle of Long Tan (2006)" and you'll understand why this movie is getting a below average rating.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Absolutely Brilliant
I love every episode and how every character was handled. I couldn't stop laughing, more for the nostalgia and the nods to the original movie than for the jokes. All the characters were so well written and so well managed. I love the way they've made the Daniel and Johnny both equally important in this version was genius. I sincerely hope this continues onto season 2. It will be interesting to see if Elizabeth Shue turns up somewhere. That would be a classic scene. One of the best shows I've seen for awhile... WELL DONE!!!
Lost in Space (2018)
Excellent
After growing up on the original Lost In Space and after being constantly disappointed with the attempted re-boots, I was extremely sceptical about this series. Not happy about the obvious changes to the Robot, Dr. Smith and Judy. However, I found this series very gripping from the 1st episode which continued to the end. All the characters are engaging and likable.
The ensemble of actors playing the family are all excellent and compliment each other perfectly. I love that Mrs Robinson (Molly Parker) is a very strong character and different type of protagonist to Mr. (Dr?) Robinson played by Toby Stephens.
The new Dr. Smith is very well played by Parker Posey who excels in this extremely Insidiously role. The 3 actors playing the Robinson children are endearing and play strong characters.
With these type of reboots, I'm a very harsh critic and hard marker. It's either a hit or miss. I thought this was going to be another reboot catastrophic failure but after watching it, I think it's very well done.
Great reboot. Can't wait for the next season.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Like watching grass grow
It took me 4 goes to get to the end of the movie. Each time was an overwhelming desire to fall asleep. I'm sure long shots of people doing things like sitting down slowly and looking at the hand would be interested to some people, who exactly is a mystery. All I can say is, that's 2hrs 45 mins that was a complete waste of time. I have never been so bored and disappointed by such a hyped up movie since 'The thin red line". And to compare this movie to that is pretty bad.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl (2016)
I liked it.
I found this movie by sheer accident. A cross b/w 'The tick' and 'Mystery Men'. As a huge, life long superhero fan, I really liked this movie. The good.. Both lead girls were endearing and really well cast. They worked really well together and the rapport between the two made the movie. The fight scenes were awesome and both girls looked like they could really kick ass. Would have loved to have seen heaps more of these scenes. The not so good... The story was very predictable from the first 5 minutes. Even the identity of the supervillain was of no surprise. As mentioned, great fight scenes however, they were very sparse with the movie focusing on cliché character / relationship development. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and enjoyable viewing. I would have liked to have seen this as a longer movie with more villain battles and more money invested. Both Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart carried the movie and made it worth watching. Hope they do a sequel but hopefully with a bigger budget and a better story line to showcase the two great lead characters.
Their Finest (2016)
Needs subtitles.
If you can't watch this with subtitles, don't bother. Lots of low voice and mumbling type dialog for dramatic effect. Great if you happen to be standing within a metre of the speaker but as a movie viewer.. frustrating and annoying to the point of ruining the movie. Too bad because it appears to be a really nice film. Would have been miles better if you could hear what they were actually saying.
