Something Wicked This Way Comes
11 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Ask any long running television series cast how the show differed from beginning to end and they will all have the same answer: character dynamics. This movie was a reflection of just that. We have seen, since the first movie, these three actors become closer and more aware of the other's acting styles. In this film, that awareness shines through magnificently. We see comfortable actors. No longer are they the children we saw in the first few movies that seemed to be thrust together, acting hard to create false relationships. We see dynamics, people working off each other, people settling down into their magical niche. This allowed--of course--for the magic, that was intended to flow through every scene, to explode like Fred&George's firecrackers. The movie, itself was quite extraordinary (as it should be), packed full of priceless characters portrayed by uniquely successful actors (i.e. Imelda Staunton as Umbridge) and special effects that will have you cowering in your seat. 'Phoenix' delves into the dark side of this magical world and presents the evil that lies within both the main villain and the hero himself. Radcliffe does an impressive job during his scenes of intense pain and scrutiny, truly leading you to believe that he is suffering. Yet all of his efforts to seem shut off from the world are outshone by the lovely youngster Evanna Lynch who plays the aptly nicknamed 'Loony Lovegood'. Her melodious, vacant voice adds perfectly to this misunderstood character. Without anyone's knowledge it was this little part that kept the audiences intrigue, wondering when she would show up next. I'm much looking forward to seeing her in the next films. To end I say: David Yates' love for minimalist acting and staging paid off in these scenes, capturing the inner characteristics of each person in the movie (ex. After the Cho Kiss) and it also allowed for every battle and high tension moment to double in its hysteria and panic. I applaud this movie and I much enjoyed it.

Just Delicious
3 July 2007
"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But" this movie is not junk in any sense of the word. This movie is a masterpiece, therefore I must rate it as such. Among the great movies of all time, I'm sure it does not rank at the top. I'm sure it doesn't change any political problems or some flaw in the ecosystem and I'm sure it isn't the more expensive movie on record. I know for a fact that it does not employ the most well known, sought after actors in the business and I know that it did not break any monumental box office ranking. But what it did do is this: it created a new perspective on Pixar and gave it new depth.

As a member of the Pixar generation, I've enjoyed every Animated film by them and can remember the day the Toy Story came out. I remember the first time I saw that lamp hop across the blued screen and hop onto the PIXAR "I", and I can say honestly that I have enjoyed no Pixar film as much as I enjoyed this one. I feel as though every film made previously has just been leading up to the production of this masterpiece, or to put in the context of the movie each film was a tasty hors d'oeuvres that beautifully lead into this delicious entree.

One room can hold so many secrets.
1 August 2006
The winding stories of each of the characters make for interesting plot lines. Alone they could each stand as a separate movie, making the film even more interesting. I find that the cinematography is quite fluent: always finding the right angles and points that are most interesting for the viewer.

Yes. It is a little slow going, but completely and totally worth the sit through. Especially if you like plain old GOOD film.

The acting in it is superb from every angle, making each of the characters unbelievably believable. You care or hate for each of them, and are constantly wishing to see "What happens next". My friends and I all sort of latched on to a certain story line and were all anxious to get back to different pieces throughout the movie, which made for a great time.

But over all, terrific casting, clean cut scripting, and just a damn good movie. Props to David Weaver and the cast.

Stargate SG-1 (1997–2007)
I'm in the gate!
16 August 2004
My mom was the first in our family to watch Stargate and I'd make fun of her. I'd call her a Sci-Fi freak or a Stargate loser! Then, I watched it and now I'm hooked. As some other people say the show is predictable...this is not completely true and when it is you know how it'll end up it's just how they get there that's interesting! This show is well written and preformed amazingly, plus they have extraordinarily talented actors. If you don't like Sci-Fi you won't like this show, but if you do you'll love it(plus there are hot guys in it too). Richard Dean Anderson is brilliant and extremely funny, since his character O'Neill is so cynical, sarcastic, and kickbutt (Amanda Tapping is also kickbutt)-which he says is a lot like himself. Even though this is just a Sci-Fi show the special effects look amazingly real and all of the costumes are amazing. This is a top of the line show...I totally recommend getting in the gate!
