Hwayi: Gwimuleul samkin ai (2013)
Great Acting, Great Movie
I'm so glad I finally watched this. This movie was F****** AWESOME. Yes the language is warranted. The acting was spectacular from every character- especially Yeo Jin Goo,I was already impressed with this child actor since The Moon Embraces the Sun and I Miss You, but he literally BLEW ME AWAY here. He covered every single emotional beat, every scene with the veteran actors (who themselves were freaking amazing) perfectly. I can't rave enough about the acting here.
The story was a lot more than I expected. I thought this would be like Coin Locker Girl when it turned vengeful and just become a bloodbath but damn- Hwayi was way smarter than I thought. Some twists I saw coming, others made me pause and rewind.
The monster analogy was very well done, the part where he just stared it down gave me chills.
The cops really got the short end of the stick here but aside from that I loved the ending. Amazing movie all around. Seriously in my top 10 K thrillers.
The Bourne Legacy (2012)
Great Entertaining Movie
Great movie, well paced, good story, kept you guessing, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED the female lead. She was not the typical 'movie whore' who's main purpose was just to have sex with the male lead. She had an actual ROLE, she was smart, useful and completely believable.
The romance between the two was very realistic. It developed slowly, was never rushed and was extremely sweet. I really felt like they had a connection past what was going on around them.
I was also impressed with how even though they didn't have Jason Bourne in this film they still managed to sneak him in. I felt like I took a break from his world to see how the world reacted around him.
I loved this movie- I don't care how it fit into the Bourne franchise. As a stand alone movie it was very well put together. You go to the movie theater to be entertained. And this movie delivered. No it wasn't the greatest movie ever- but it was worth two hours sitting in a dark theater oom full of strangers.
9/10
The Office (2005)
Awkward Humor
All this show is a bunch of awkward people in an office with an even More socially defective boss.
Its all awkward humor where you laugh AT them... I hate awkward humor it makes me cringe...
this show gives me goosebumps
And not in a good way.
I never understood how there are parts where each character narrates directly TO the camera. Like Big Brother.
NOT a show I would watch at all
Avoid if you don't like Awkward humor
Firefly (2002)
Completely Different Take On Space Shows
I watched this mainly because it was created by Joss Whedon- the man behind BUFFY (and techincally Angel too).
I was NOT disappointed.
I loved every episode. The characters are a riot, the enemies even made me giggle. I laughed every episode, the banter was on point and the comedy was not slapstick but Whedon's style of 'scenario humor'.
I was literally half way through the series before I realized 'Oh..this is also a Western?' AND I HATE WESTERNS I just thought the border planets/moons where spaces version of 'countryside' and all the cowboy/westernesque themes due to their 'hickness'. Overall it didn't bother me at all.
The show is about a crew that does illegal shipments and always seems to find themselves with the short end of the stick. Each episode was unique, surprising and funny.
Good Watch, Good Show, GREAT movie. (Movie 'Serenity' takes place after the last episode and ties up the story).
PS: EVERYONE'S HUMAN. One thing that I find hard to keep up with in Space shows is all the species invented, not the case here. Everyone is Human! And the universal language is Chinese! So all the characters curse at each other in Mandrin.
Criminal Minds (2005)
Started strong..mellowed down, climbed back up
Pilot episode is a shocker and throws you into the world of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. From there every episode has you on the edge of your seat.
By Season 3 I stopped watching it for the profiles of the killers and was hooked on the characters.(But then again I could watch 1 hour of Shemar Moore just staring back at me from the TV and I'd be happy). They are all so well developed you yearn for more hints of their lives outside the FBI.
By Season 6 they were the only thing keeping me watching, I don't know what happened to the brilliant writers of Seasons 1-3, they didn't reuse plots. They just stopped explaining the WHY behind the killers behaviors and just focused on the HOWS. I was left at the end of episodes going "But..why would he do that?" Now I'm on season 7 and I have to say I'm VERY happy. Seems the writers woke back up. The plots are just as good as the report of the team and the characters side stories now. I'm back to being hooked.
All and all a great show, brings a COMPLETELY different view to the regular cop shows. I love the twists, the facts, how they breakdown the case by studying just the killers behaviors.
GOOD SHOW. Worth the watch.
...Did I mention Shemar Moore?
