The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
So disappointing
Like a very poor TV movie version of The Matrix! Some movies get worse with each and every sequel, and The Matrix certainly falls into that category.
Poor storyline and poor acting from the secondary characters...Especially at the start of the movie where you can hardly tell what Bugs is saying. Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss still have the magic but it's rather lost amongst the rest of the shower of nobody's.
I waited a long while before watching this due to the many bad reviews it was receiving, and I can definitely add to the list.
I watched it on Amazon Prime and I am very glad that I didn't pay anything to watch it.
In Celebration (1975)
Nowt Yorkshire about it!
A very slow and extremely tedious film about a Yorkshire family reuniting up north to celebrate their parents anniversary.
Unfortunately, it's not filmed in Yorkshire, and there's not a real Yorkshire accent to be heard anywhere! Even old 'Compo' couldn't convince anyone he was a Yorkshireman... maybe because he was actually a southerner!
Strangely the classic film "Brassed Off" is a better portrayal of Yorkshire folk in an old mining village, and one of the stars was Scottish!
There are brief moments of good acting from the all star cast, but they are few and far between in this bore of a movie.
Unholy (2015)
Knock on wood
If 'The Conjuring' was Oak, this would be pallet wood. There is the odd decent special effect but the acting wasn't good at all. Watch for free or give it a miss.
CI5: The New Professionals (1998)
The New Amateurs
Absolute rubbish with bad acting and cheesy lines. It's an insult to the original and shouldn't even be using the name. The only saving grace is that they haven't used the original character names. Not even Edward Woodward saves it, who's normally a great actor.
The New Legends of Monkey (2018)
Poor mans Monkey
A poor attempt at the rehash of a classic, with bad choices for actors who can't act.
A tongue in cheek Cheese Fest that really can drag on. And having a few Australian actors, it's more like a cross between Neighbours and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!
Now I grew up watching the original 70's version, and loved every minute of it! But this new version is almost insulting to the original masterpiece!
Now don't get me wrong... I don't mind a reboot of a classic per sé. Another version of the "Monkey" concept "A Korean Odyssey" was absolutely brilliant! Unfortunately, it aired for only one season, but it was a much better programme. And even though it was different to the original, it really was very good.
So my advice is give it a miss...unless you're hungover one Sunday morning?
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (1988)
Worse than the material it reviews!
An absolutely shambolic and childish review show, that passes judgement on TV shows from the past.
Basically, an overgrown manchild and his demented "robot buddies", irritatingly slate various old gems from TV history. Often mocking the characters or storylines for each TV show....the only problem is, this programme is unbelievably worse than the stuff it reviews!!
Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs!
Martyrs (2015)
Not much comparison to original.
I started to watch this version of Martyrs, without actually expecting any greatness. I had already seen the original version, and knew that any remake would probably be very poor. To be honest, this version isn't too bad in its own right as a horror flick, and Troian Bellisarios acting did surprise me somewhat. She played a pretty good part considering she's only really used to Pretty Little Liars. But alas, the original kinda blows this version out of the park. As the story barely mirrors the original, both in content and delivery. And I'd say most of the actual horror scenes or incidents are completely different too. If you do want to watch it then please watch the original first... You'll be glad you did.
