Blood & Guts (2006)
A cheesy b- movie that is pretty good
I wasn't expecting too much from this film when I watched it on Netflix. I think you have to have an appreciation for independent horror films to like this movie. The story was fairly typical a group of teenager get together for some debauchery in an old house then are killed off one by one. Very typical and classic formula, but it works. The soundtrack was good as well, I ended up downloading 7k album. The movie is shot in that low budget 80's way that makes it a little grainy/ hazy. The ending was great; it made me laugh, especially the little girl. I don't know if this movie is still available on netflix, but I feel it is very much worth your time to watch this. It is a little cheesy but the good kind of cheesy.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
great remake
I am an eighties child. I grew up watching all great horror movie series. By the end of the Nightmare on Elm Street series, the movies had become very campy and not so much scary or even dark. This new reinvention of the franchise brought me back to the original. Freddy was a bad guy, he's a freakin child molester, but buy the end of the original movie series, Freddy is like this guy we all root for because he ends op killing all the kids who have sex, do drugs, or are just annoying. This movie brought Freddy back to the dark side for me; he became scarrier. It did a better job than Wes craven New Nightmare, which wasn't a bad movie just not that remeberable. I also like the addition of the back story. Even though other movies did give more of Freddies back ground. I like the angle this one took. I was very impressed with this remake in the time when everything is being remade; Heaven forbid an original idea.
Knock Knock (2007)
Knock knock this sucked
I can't believed I wasted an hour and half of my life on this. I've seen better writing and acting in a porno. This movie took a generic concept and slaughtered it with no originality. This movie make bad b movies look like tens. The movie is about some teenagers that pick on a poor retarded kid when an accident happens and someone supposedly dies. Then years later a mysterious figure comes back and starts hacking people up. The mystery unravels worse than in Scooby Doo(which I 'm a big fan).
In the end you wondered why you wasted your money on this much more you time. I hope we never see a Knock Knock 2 or a remake
Straw Dogs (2011)
Could've been so much better...maybe
This movie just did not sit well with me from the beginning. I felt my toe curling as I was watching the set up. The story is basically home town girl, who had 15 minutes of fame, is back in town with Hollywood writer boyfriend, who knows nothing about the south and good ole boy ways. The main character was the only decent, but very stereotypical. Nerdy guy wanting to fit in even though he can't stand the people he is trying to fit in with. To me, the plot was very typical with no twist.(I was hoping in the end the husband killed the cat.)
The last 15 minutes of the movie are what gave it a five for me, especially the bear trap scene. The rest of the movie was just "blah". Like many people wrote "Did she get raped by her old boyfriend or was she ashamed she cheated on her husband. Obviously the second guy raped her because in the end she like shoots him three times while leaving the other guy alone then at the end she just stands there looking at him with a bear trap on his head. Like your husband just kills five guys who where trying to kill you, and your not trying to make out with him or show him so freakin gratitude. What a B****!
I noticed a lot of people said she deserved what she got because she was wearing s shirt you could see her tits through ans then flashed the guys in the roof. But if you notice the director sort of makes it out that way; it's even alluded to with the line: "you reap what you sow". Not that I agree with the fact she was raped due to how you dress, but the point made you do attract flies with honey. You will notice she no longer wears anymore skimpy outfits.
