The Witcher (2019)
You talk to your horse? That's sad.
Who or what directed / edited this? All the choices are really odd and amateur-ish. I assume we're on beloved video game ground, so I apologize, but Imagine if Gladiator began with a bizarre editing choice, followed by an impossibility slow, modern day-seeming boring bar scene? Maybe it gets better? The pilot can best be summed up by the scene where Cavill is monologue-ing to his horse (oof), and a 2020 looking CW actress tells him "That's just sad".... it really is.
Into the Wild (2007)
Over-dramatic anyone?
that's all. We get it. It's not like it's some new revolutionary way of thinking. You don't need money, you can live off the earth. Neato! Hippies! Have fun eating squirrel and poisonous berries... I'll be hanging out w/ my friends and eating delicious foods and falling in love and having a family and going to see overly pretentious movies... all that kind of stuff.
wouldn't interest someone smart like super tramp.
the end.

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
Hardcore Fans vs. The General Public
It just comes down to this.
If you're a hard core purist fan, you'll be angry at the disregard and respect for stories, truths and characters of the legendary series. You'll be let down by the lack of character development that Bryan Singer had been building up so much, as well as the amount of screen time given to some of your favorite characters.
If you only know X-Men from the movies, you'll probably like it b/c it's filled with non-stop action and emotional moments that you probably didn't see coming. With some really cool special effects. Especially the Golden Gate bridge scene, that was fun.
I am one of those people who find themselves being a little bit of both. I have a huge respect for the comics and the old-school continuity, although I honestly never read the comics as a kid. I'm a combination of dorky comic wannabee guy mixed with cool sports playing wannabee guy. So i'm still not sure what I think about this film.
The story didn't follow continuity, but it is a film. Not a comic book. Does a film have the right to create its own canon or continuity in order to appease the masses? In order to fit into its typical 3 episode format? A film obviously doesn't have the ability to go into detail with every character as Comics do. So its tough to appease the hard core fans, and if you take the time to go into every detail, you slow down the pace for the non hardcore fans.
I saw the film with fans of the movies, not comic buffs, and they liked it a lot. They were super excited and blown away by some of the choices in the story.
The story... Also, Brett Ratner came into this project with everything pretty much already done. He honestly probably didn't have much to do w/ the script. I would assume at least.
Having said that the directing and cinematography didn't seem to be amazing, just good enough to work.
The story was intense and overwhelming, despite destroying any previously respected continuity. But thats why we have comics. Comics will continue to hold up the legacy of Xmen, while the films will give us a fun chance to see something cool.
Having said that, the characters weren't developed and it was rushed and all kinds of stuff. It was lame to see more screen time given to that fake Hollywood version of Kid Omega than to Collossus or Juggernaught.
Oh well. i had fun while watching it, but I usually let myself go and take whatever is happening on the screen for what it is. Then i go into film school kid mode and dissect it. But i had fun.
So that's where the opinions will be different. It was cool for non-fans, painful for big-fans. Oh well... i had mindless fun watching it, and at least we still have the comics to uphold the history of X-Men and how it really went down.
The Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Yup! It's a Whopper alright!!!!
A whopper of a movie! Transformers: The Movie is my childhood favorite. For those of us that grew up on the classic TV show, it's a must-own.
From the oldschool fan POV, it's so inspirational. Stan Bush's crazy 80's music STILL Inspires me when I listen to it. I just wish I was being chased by an evil flying robot and saving the world while I'm listening to it. It's also the nostalgic centerpoint of Transfandom itself. Fans may have continuity disagreements throughout the franchise of comics and TV shows and toys, but all fans have love and respect for what goes down in the film.
For the kid who skipped being a Transformers fan during the 80's. It's not that big of a deal. It could be looked at as a big toy commercial, as major characters are killed off in order to bring it new ones. It could also be viewed as a Star Wars rip off.
I say, it's both. It's classic storytelling, therefore drawing obvious comparisons to films like Star Wars, and its a showcase for a surprisingly BIG cast. Including the infamous Orson Wells on his last film ever.
The poster is hanging up in my room. I worked at blockbuster for 4 years and made it my goal to sell as many copies as I possible could, and I've turned many of my friends into fans of it as well.
I've done my part.
GET OUT THERE AND WATCH IT!!!
CrossBones (2005)
Worst Movie Ever Made.....Ever!!!
Seriously... Worst Movie Ever Made in the History of movies.
Ever been to film class? Ever had a guy make a crappy movie and it just sucked. This is worse! and it has a budget! and it was distributed by Lions Gate Films!
sorry, whats wrong with me... i mean, whats not to like?
- zombies that last for 5 seconds - awesome breakthrough roles for African American Characters - great acting - great premise! A pirate who for no apparent reason, comes back to life and kills people on a reality show. - cartwheels! - eye gowdging = instant death! - Great makeup.. ya know what... enough of this...

Wedding Crashers (2005)
I do...
I was lucky enough to see a sneak peak of this at New Line Cinema about 4 months ago, and it was very very funny. It starts off a little slow, with Vince Vaughn carrying the film based on the fact that almost anything he does is funny... but then the film really finds itself a little bit later and the laughs begin. The further the movie goes the funnier it gets. And it honestly looks like something we all can do and have a blast doing it. I recommend this to others and I plan on actually plan on seeing it again when it comes out... Although this time I have to pay for it.
go see wedding crashers
Hide and Seek (2005)
Bad Rip Off of Amittyville Horror
Oh the Horror. This movie just flat out sucks. It's the sad new trend of scary movies to dismiss any reward for paying attention, and ditch the concept of the story actually making sense, all in order to have some neat psychological twist at the end.
It sucks.
And it's the biggest rip off of Amittyville Horror. Especially if you've seen the new version. Someone must have been spying on the set of it and went and made Hide & Seek really quick to get it out before this one hit theater's.
aahhh... Good Actors involved in this film, really good ones... but the worst plot, twist and movie i've seen all year.

Van Helsing (2004)
The real monster is the director!
Man, I remember first hearing about a VAN HELSING movie being made... I was sooo excited. What a cool character in such a cool setting. Then I found out Stephen Sommers was directing it, and i thought about the Mummy. OH GOD NOOOO!
Now i'm not gonna hate all the way, the Mummy films were good at being a fun no-brainer popcorn-eating extravaganza... but as far as a classy-scary-suspenseful remake of a classic character, it was awful.
And so was Van Helsing. It was too much for 1 movie, a total idea overload.
Wolfman? Frank? AND Dracula???? I was waiting for Joel Schumacher to chime in w/ Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze!!!
Oh the horror (not the good kind).
please if any good directors are out there, make another van helsing film, i'll go see it. But no more cgi stephen sommer films.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
VINDICATED!
I feel VINDICATED after seeing this film. Finally a positive change in the consistency of superhero tales. Finally the thing you always want to happen...actually happens. Finally, a hero is revealed!
After watching seasons of Smallville and every other superhero show or film, I was thrilled to get a change of pace with Spiderman 2. We see the superhero really appreciated by the good citizens of New York. We see our hero unmasked and still saving peoples lives, not worrying about hiding his identity. We've all seen the story before... the hero always WANTS to tell his close friends his secret, but is tortured by the fact that he can't. Finally we get a film that isn't afraid to take that bold step forward and deal with the truth.
Smallville could learn a lot from this film.
