The Righteous Gemstones (2019)
Another great show ruined by their new seasons
If I were you I'd definitely watch season 1 of this. It's a well-written and comical show about the dark side of the TV pastor family starring DannyMcBride. Need I say more?
And like the title says, the 2nd season I feel ruins the vibe of the show and continues the arch in a way I didn't ask for nor need.
Season 1 stands out as a great season on its own, just like Mr. Robot did. So go ahead and watch this!
Everything Danny McBride writes turns to comedic gold in my opinion, and his mix of extremely angry and deadpan way of delivering lines has a shortcut to my heart. It has been that way ever since Pineapple Express.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Old, predictable, stereotypical 2000's action hero
Before reading on, I have never been a huge fan of "GOTTA GO FASTER"-films as Fast & Furious or Top Gun, and this film once again proves why I'm happy with that.
The entinre film can be summarised as:
"We have a mission but a man and a vehicle cannot go as fast as this mission needs to!"
"You are wrong, Im fast boi and I can go fast"
"What no you cant, and if you try to prove it thats illegal"
*proves he's a fast boi*
"You will go to jail for this... maybe, and only after the mission"
Tom Cruise is back at it with dialogue that only ever does one of three tings:
- Praise him as a hero while he scoffs it off
- Give lazy exposition heavily directed
- Show masculine hostility
The decent parts in this film is what made me stretch to 6/10 - and that is the flying sequences. If this film only stuck to that this would've been a great flight action film. Instead they've got a love interest that is dumbed down all the way to female roles from the 90's, where they 100% adore the action protagonist for little to no apparent reason while they do their own thing and show no real affection except the occational "I will never leave you.....again".
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Sadly this goes over some peoples heads
- but if you're vaguely updated on the pop cultures of the last 30 years and appreciate quick-witted humor, this movie is for you.
Underneath a snappy and modern exterior hides both fantastic caricatures of people that are easily read and endeering. It also encapsulates the life of a teenager and her dad, beautifully captured from both sides. It is easy for a teen to sympathize with the dad, and vice versa.
I laughed constantly through this and can't wait to watch it with my future children. Of course then I first have to show them a thorough list of all the references to fully enjoy it... but that's a project for another time!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
This ain't the Obi-Wan series, but child-Leia series
If you want to see a little girl reading a script written for an adult's vocabulary.. This is it.
Obi-Wan is basically a sad resourceless hasbeen that's recruited to find Leia.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Forgettable action and plot - but OK if you only want SW-related pron
Boba himself is an interesting character enough but this whole series reeks of lazy writing.
- The cinematography feels super secure and like they're never trying to take chances or reinvent anything.
- The action.sequences' Roman name would be Plotholeious. Assassins on both sides forgets their goals all the time and are easily distracted by goons, the action itself feels wire'y and no characters take any damage ever that gives consequences later so it all feels very childish and lazy.
I'm gonna see the rest just cus it's canon, but I don't enjoy it.
Annaatthe (2021)
Fragile extrovert brother destroys life of stereotypically weak sister
After 2 hours 43 minutes it felt like I had been forced to watch a hybdret music videos of speedramping and slow motion shots of a douchebag older millionaire.
It would be a good film if it only lasted about 30-40 minutes.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
The blandness is striking
When they first strike up a miniseries with not the most interesting avengers, you'd think they'd make a plot or sew it all together in an interesting way to cope for the lack of all-stars, but no.
Falcon & Friends turned out to be a lazy written drama with soulless chattering and boring action scenes that feels like re-hashing of early Iron Man scenes combined with the most forgettable highway scenes from Avengers.
Only watching this till the end because it's canon.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021)
Half-hearted not-even fanmade-like short stories set in the SW universe
- but it might just be in any other universe, apart from taking place during Palpatines rise.
- The characters are super flat and only respond to their archetype-like card throughout the series.
- The character animations are soulless and straight forward, like animated purely by downloading all movements from a stock page.
- The environments looks like they were put together by having 3-5 assets for each unique place roughly scattered around. Plain and not with that SW-charm that we all have grown up to love.
The only good thing that stood out to me was the music.
Avoid watching this bland water soup of a series and wait for something else SW in the future, is my tip.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Weak soup
If this is your first ever zombie film and you're a teenager, you'll probably dig this. Everyone else'll probably grow tired from this thinly sliced garbage.
The cinematography is like a film student straight out of school - correct and boring. The editing is likewise uninspiring and feels choppy at times.
The plot is like Mission Impossible/Fast Five/Ocean's 11-type, so if you're hung over like a horse and just need something braindead to watch - pun intended, then by all means go ahead, and forget it straightly after.

Pulp Fiction (1994)
Never gets old
One of the films I rewatch every year or so. The master of dialogue: Q. Tarantino
