Fresh (2022)
Surprisingly good & original and nice break from the "blockbuster" pics
I was really surprised by this movie. I heard mixed reviews and knew this was going to be an abstract type of movie. The story is very unique and the visuals contribute to the uniqueness of the story. The story is very disturbing but is well acted and there is a balance of horror, drama, and just weirdness. This was a great hour and a half and I highly recommend giving it a watch.
Most movies that are made now lack originality and it is so nice to see a movie like this that is so unique and well thought out. We need more independent and creative movies like this in Hollywood. I hope to see more from these filmmakers and other smaller filmmakers.
WandaVision (2021)
A semi-entertaining series but lacks substance in the overall story
After finally watching all 9 episodes there are some key things I'd like to point out. The first two episodes were really disappointing but after watching the 3rd episode things made more sense. The show definitely got better after that and there have been some really interesting story lines. It was nice to see Wanda have a full character arch. Vision and pretty much all of the other characters were really well acted and very interesting. Each episode was very interesting and left me wanting more. The finale was a real disappointment as it fell short of giving the series an interesting and conclusive end. There were a lot of plot points to tie up and the show really disappointed and sort of lazily tried to wrap the show up but still tying WandaVision to the new Dr. Strange movie (coming in 2022).
Unfortunately there were a lot of problems (in my opinion). This being Marvel Entertainment's first Disney+ series (I'm not counting Marvel Television as it was not run directly with Marvel & the MCU) it was really not what would be expected from a multi episode tv series . Each episode did not feel like it was really well connected and sort of lacked a typical beginning, middle and end that most tv series (and movies) have. Each episode is about 40 minutes long and that includes about 8 minutes of beginning and end credits. So each episode we got about 32 minutes of story. Looking back it really seems more like a movie story setup and they just divided it into 9 episodes (would be actually about 4 hours). Each episode did have its own theme but it really lacked structure in each episode. You can watch shows like Jessica Jones, Legion, and Agents of Shield and see that each episode has its own story and is not just simply connected to the overall series/franchise.
There were a lot of expectations from fans and I would recommend not getting too caught up in some of the Fan theory/ Easter egg videos online as you will be even more disappointed with the finale. I think Marvel could've included some more cameos/characters to help clear somethings up. To me this show seemed kind of like Captain Marvel in the way that it really is mostly trying to setup future Marvel properties and characters and have some fun storylines without having to do much work. I hope this show is not going to be the "standard" for future Marvel Disney+ shows and Movies. It had a great opportunity to bring in some interesting characters and storylines but it did not give much substance to the characters or to the story and left the audience without much closure.
WandaVision: The Series Finale (2021)
A disappointing end for a show that could've done a lot more
Wow. What a disappointing ending for all that this show should've and could've done with the source material. Just finished watching and I've been let down by about every episode in the series but I was really hopping for a little bit of closure in the finale.
~SPOLIERS~
Very little happened that could've given us a little bit of closure and left me feeling really disappointed. I'm going to give just a few examples:
-Evan Peters Character was apparently named...something "douche" and he only appeared for a minute or two. He appears to be a resident of Westview. So it's disappointing that he really didn't have much of a role as a lot of people thought he would.
-I think most people 'hoped' for some cameo or more explanations but there is really little NO Doctor Strange cameo and NO Characters (unless you count White Vision and Rambo-Photon, etc.)
-No scratchy (current bunny) or any Mafiesto, Nightmare, or other dark beings possibly in relation to Agatha and the hex. It doesn't mean any of that couldn't come down the line in other MCU properties (maybe even Wanda). I won't spoil much but Agatha seems like the big bad in the finale but her powers are limited and she is brought to her 'demise'.
-Wanda does get some closure and it will be interesting to see her in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness.
~END SPOILERS~
There are a lot of problems and so positives as well throughout this show. My feelings of this show is that it was trying to be something it just could not be. I think Marvel does movies AMAZINGLY well but I really don't think they are able to set up a tv series of this caliber in a proper format very well. I think WandaVision 'maybe' would've done better as a movie instead of a drawn out tv series. I think it really hurt the overall storyline. I hope they get better especially looking toward the new Loki show.
I've had a fun time waiting every Friday morning for the new episodes. I've really enjoyed going through some of Easter eggs and watching some of the WandaVision YouTube episode breakdowns & theories. There was so much potential in this show and looking back at the whole series I'm pretty disappointed. I think if they stuck the landing it could've really cleared up some stuff and brought some form of closure.
The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror VI (1995)
Best Treehouse of Horror episode!
This is a truly great episode. Grew up watching it end it was absolutely scary and enjoyable. Years later it is still one of the best Simpsons episodes. Each of the three segments are truly unique. You will really enjoy each one of them.
Legion: Chapter 23 (2019)
Amazing
Really great episode. This show has been such a beautiful and intricate version of the comics. This episode features such great graphics and cinematography. Very impressed.
