Quite good actually
3 December 2003
You can't really slag this off if you like Commando/Raw Deal or any

other Arnie Flick.

It's good, honest Arnie fun, with voilence and one liners.

i actually would rate this as one of his better films.

Jackie Brown (1997)

not as good as other tarrantio's
15 October 2003
It was always going to be a hard act to follow classics like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, and unfortunately Jackie Brown doesn't deliver to the standards set be Tarantinos previous efforts. Whilst this is an enjoyable, whilst slow paced movie, it doesn't hit the viewer on the same level and actually left me slightly disappointed. This does not, however, mean that you shouldn't see this film, whether you are a Tarantino fan or not. It may be better viewed if you are not an enthusiastic fan of the director.

Based on Elmore Leonards novel Rum Punch, the movie strays away from the book, so much as changing the colour of the lead to black. Pam Grier does a good job of playing the forty something caught up in money laundering and Samuel L Jackson delivers a great performance as Ordell, but the film unfortunately fails to grip the audience, and unlike Pulp and Dogs, this is not a film you will want to watch over and over again.

BEST ACTOR: SAM JACKSON is funny, witty and truly scary as Ordell. BEST ACTRESS: PAM GRIER was perfectly cast as Jackie and fits in perfectly. BEST SCENE: The three different views of the money exchange is one of Tarantinos best set pieces. BEST QUOTE: 'Wanna F&$k?', from Bridget Fonda is very sexy.

Great, succeded only by pulp

The first offering from the most influential director of the nineties is a masterpiece that will be remembered not only for its violence but also its lovely constructed dialogue and it's set pieces. Essentially a character based piece, Reservoir Dogs tracks the fortunes of a group of robbers after a heist on a jewellery store. The movie caused controversy when released as it contains some disturbing scenes, but as with all Tarantino offerings, most of the violence is off screen, allowing the audience to think about what is actually happening, rather than showing them it in the flesh.

This is a movie that would be hard to follow, and must go down as one of the greatest directional debuts ever.

BEST ACTOR: STEVE BUSCEMI is outstanding, delivering a comic feel to his role. There are a lot of good performances in this movie, especially Michael Madsens, but Buscemi's is so elaborate that he stands out in a crowded room. BEST ACTRESS: No females of importance in the movie. BEST SCENE: Without doubt, Madsens ear chopping scene to the beat of 'stuck the middle with you'. BEST QUOTE: The entire conversation in the café at the beginning, especially Buscemi's piece on why he doesn't tip.

Puppet Master (1989 Video)
4/10
Iffy

Look at this movie as just a bit of fun following a bunch of evil puppets running around massacring people and you will enjoy this film. Look at it in any other way, or compare it to the superior Child's Play and you will be disappointed.

What is strange about this film is that it doesn't explain anything about the puppets origins and why Toulon had to kill himself at the beginning. This point, however, is taken to the extreme in the six sequels that followed. This instalment is not as good as number two in the series, but it is a decent film which is funny if not that scary. I'd recommend checking out Puppet Master 2 even if you don't like this, but stay away from the other sequels.

BEST ACTOR: PAUL LeMATT is the best of a very poor bunch of actors. BEST ACTRESS: IRENE MIRACLE doesn't perform miracles but does a decent job. BEST SCENE: The ending where the puppets have their wicked way with their master. BEST QUOTE: none of note.

Hilarious

Okay, there is no storyline, but this is one hell of a funny goof-ball movie. I cna't think of words to describe how good this is and my only advice is to go buy the dvd, watch the movie (with the laughter track on), then watch it again with Tom Greens commentary on. Its hilarious.

BEST ACTOR: TOM GREEN, obviously, he's one mental guy. BEST ACTRESS: MARISA COUGHLAN getting her legs spanked and saying 'pussy' is great fun. BEST SCENE: In the shower, with the scuba gear. I can't stop thinking about this scene. BEST QUOTE" I've got the treasure, we'll live like kings"

Pulp Fiction (1994)
10/10
Without doubt the best of the best
14 October 2003
Tarrantino is a legend in film making even after only only really making three movies (forget about 4 rooms). Pulp Fiction is the best of his films, and in many peoples minds the greatest film of all time. It is one of those films you can watch over and over again and never become bored of.

The script, the cast, the acting, the dialogue, the scenery. Everything about this movie is outstanding.

An extroidinary achievement.

BEST ACTOR: Without doubt SAM JACKSON. His Ezikiel rant will go donw as the best monlologue in the history of cinema. BEST ACTRESS: Um...UMA THURMAN. Not a hard one that. BEST SCENE: In Jimmys house. Although Tarantino can't act, this was a great piece of comedy. BEST QUOTE: "And i will strike down uopn thee with great vengence and furious anger..."
