Incredible first episode
11 November 2019
Felt like the first part from a film series. Production values were insane. Performances, so good. My only problem was with a few of the secondary plot lines. A bit muddy, but will start making sense as the show goes on probably. I'm stoked. Can't wait to watch episode 2.

Terrifying
14 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A true horror story. This was a fantastic first episode. It's just scary to think that real people actually went through what was happening on screen. Also, the production value was out of this world. Great cinematography and CGI. Great acting. I can't wait for episode 2 to see more of the aftermath and how much worse the ones in command will be able to screw up. It was just so infuriating. People are vomiting left and right. There was an obvious explosion, that was even felt in the neighbouring town. People that have actually seen that the core is gone, tell you to stop and realise what the hell you're doing and you're just going - Nope, I'm right, you're wrong.

Best in the Season for now
21 December 2018
Okay, best episode in the season for now. This season had a really slow and meandering start in the first half, but now it has reached the quality of season 1 in the last few episodes (apart from Dolores. I hope they do something clever with her by the end). The big sell of episode 8 is the characters. I grew to love Mauve even more. Lee Sizemore, the human asshole who was by Mauve's side has redeemed himself and Akecheta.... just wow 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Better
17 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Much better than the previous episode. I take my words back. I actually really enjoyed the exploration of Shogun World. However, Mauve's storyline is the only one I'm truly enjoying. I love Mauve. Brave, got a bit of a bite, funny, playful, but the love for her daughter is in the heart of her character. Dolores/Wyatt, however, is seriously starting to bug me. I think Dolores turning evil in the last episode of season 1 was cool, because you had that shocking explosive ending, but I don't think they planned to ever make a season 2. I freaking loved Dolores in season 1. Started off innocent and a bit of a damsel in distress, but really got stronger and braver and more interesting in the season's run. Here she has flipped 180 so fast that there's just no way on Earth that herself now and before are the same person. Just, please bring back Dolores. Also, Teddy.....What the hell did she do to Teddy. What the hell did she do to beutiful, good old Teddy. Omg I hate her, please tell me if she doesn't get redeemed, she at least dies by the end of season 2!

Meh
17 December 2018
This show has taken a serious plunge with season 2. Apart from the twist at the end (and even that was a bit "whatever") this episode was so boring. Don't really care to see any of the other parks from what we've gotten so far.

A great love story that shouldn't be missed!
10 June 2014
Before the review starts I must say that it might be a little biased. Coming from another country, before I saw the movie I had never heard of the book (maybe the title once or twice in a different translation) or any of the movie adaptations. For everyone else I suspect it wasn't as interesting as it was to me.

The movie is about a boy, Pip, who gets in the possession of some money and coming from a poor background, goes on to become a gentleman in London.

The movie is filled with a very well-known cast, e.g. Helena Bonham Carter and Jeremy Irvine, and directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). As seen from previous movies, everyone delivers a remarkable performance, especially Carter with the wounded character of Miss Havisham (there's a good twist around the end involving her). Another great stand out was Holliday Grainger in the role of Estella. I loved her, and will be definitely looking at what projects she chooses in the future. It was a nice surprise when she appeared in Anna Karenina (2012), and although just for a couple of seconds, she played her part there very well too.

The story, although I've never heard of it, is a classic. It's handled very well, and the love story too. Two people that were never meant to be together. Even though Estella is trying to push Pip away, Pip always comes back. There is definitely chemistry between the two.

The sets and costumes were another high point of the movie. The women's wear in particular worked very well for the time period in which the story is set. The depiction of 1980s London was very graphic and very well done. Nothing seemed CGI, and all the sets looked very realistic.

Every movie has a flaw, and nearly every time it's the pace. The movie did slow down around the middle, after Pip arrives in London and settles down. Not much happened.

I recommend this to most movie fans looking for a good drama. Fans of the story will probably dig the new adaptation too. Enjoy.

Evil Dead II (1987)

Not as amazing as the first, but still pretty amazing!
8 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
In the second instalment in the series we're back in the cabin in the woods with our main character Ash. After a brief introduction (it's not really an introduction. It's more of a short remake of the first movie, because most of the characters are missing) of what happened in the first movie we see Ash go back to his normal human state, but given the fact that the bridge to safety has collapsed he has to find a way to escape his undead girlfriend and all the other demonic creatures lurking in the forest.

Evil Dead 2 is a great sequel and a great addition to the franchise. The story might even be better than the first one. We get more explanation on the reasons why all these strange things are happening whenever someone reads from the flesh-cover book. This adds more meaning to the series as whole, because things just happened in the first movie. There was no explanation why that book was in the basement;why people go mad when they read from it;why the forest was possessed. Most of those questions get answered in the second movie. It's good to have an origin story and with the second one that's what we get. It's good to point out that humour has a much bigger part in this, than in the first movie. It works much better as well.

The acting, music and cinematography are all top-notch, as they were in the original. Those swooping forest shots make an appearance again, but they look much sleeker and better made.

The movie has a lot of high points, but the special effects are right at the top. They're the main thing that has been improved from the first. The make up is a touch more realistic too, which adds to the intensity and the realistic aspect of the movie.

The only bad thing I can think of is that it slows down around the beginning of the second half. Even though not as good as the first, the movie is a success and a must-see for all horror fans.

Acting - 9/10 Cinematography - 10/10 Idea - 7/10 Joy - 8/10 Music - 8/10 Script - 9/10 Special Effects - 8/10 Overall Rating - 8/10

Just as a last note, except a lot of weird things to happen in this movie. Very funny, but A class weird. Look forward to a scene with a stuffed deer in particular.

P.S.This is my first review guys, so please be gentle. I hope I improve over time. My writing must be the most robotic thing anyone has ever read. I love watching films and wanted to be a part of the reviewing experience. Let's just hope I get better over time.
