Andor (2022)
THIS is the way
After big disappointments like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett, we finally have a Star Wars series for adults. Chapters VII-IX have made chapters I-III less mediocre. Solo fell short of what the character deserved. Fortunately, The Mandalorian has lived up to expectations. And Rogue One has been the only film capable of maintaining the quality of the original trilogy. I'm glad to revisit Cassian's character in Andor. He is complex, dark, not a cliché designed to be liked by everybody. And the Empire is portrayed as a technological terror, not an army of aimless unskilled troops. Disney should take note of what the true way is and stop flooding the saga with poor quality content. THIS is the way!
Alcarràs (2022)
Realistic, would work better as a documentary
Very good atmosphere and splendid work of non-professional actors. Realistic, melancholic and sweet at the same time about a current problem of rural life. But the sound is awful, you can't understand what the characters are saying even when you know the language. Better watch it with subtitles.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Marvelizing Star Wars. No need.
Factory scripts full of cliches that adds absolutely nothing to the saga. In fact, it makes the saga worse with a beloved dark side character like Boba Fett, now turned into a good samaritan that removes his helmet in every occasion. The only exception are the two episodes with the Mandalorian and no Boba at all. Disney is 'marvelizing' Star Wars crossing movies and TV shows and adding postcredits escenes trying to connect a world that was already connected.
The Star Wars saga was better without this Book of Boba Fett. Disney should look at Rogue One as the reference to follow, best Star Wars material done since the original trilogy.
They are getting better with the real actors young digital faces technology. Hope to see a young Indiana Jones fighting with nazis in Indy5.
Mulan (2020)
Why?
Why? Why? Why are you trying to destroy our childhood? Wasn't enough with the Lion King? 😔 You won't stop, right? You will do Snow White too, right? OMG! You will even do Toy Story!! Shame!!
Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017)
How to turn a masterpiece short Pixar tradition into a Disney commercial soulless
I used to look for the Pixar's shorts previous to their movies as the little place where the new talent can risk, and eventually (the most of the times) come with a little masterpiece. Disney has killed that. Olaf's Frozen Adventure is a perfect technical piece of void. No soul, no risk, nothing new, just the old fashioned automatic script applied and extended for too much run time.
Alatriste (2006)
A promise of Spanish cinema
First of all, excuse my English. I'm Spanish and i have seen the movie last weekend. The film has everything except a script. Why putting all Alatriste books in one movie? We have an actor, we have a great atmosphere, we have a good score, but we don't have a coherent-block-script. The story falls into pieces. And please, please, some Spanish actors don't know how to speak correctly in cinema. Viggo, not being Spanish his natural language, makes the character his own way, with personal voice. The rest of the cast is lot far from Viggo using their voices. But isn't this movie problem, is a question of the entire Spanish cinema, obsessed with recording live sound. I enjoy with the film, anyway.
