Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost (2019)
Not what I expected
I'm sorry but I have to say it out right... I didn't like this movie very much.
I was a big fan of the original 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo and this just isn't it. Fred is a wus, Van Ghoul is a comic relief, Flim Flam is boring and overall it hints at the idea that the series never happened, that there were never any real ghosts and that everything was just a conjuring of mass hysteria.
This just isn't how it should have ended... a shame.
#Horror (2015)
An overzealous movie
At first this movie looked like it had potential. It had the basic elements of horror movie, a secluded location, a huge house, some almost teenagers... By the half way point it looses it's focus and becomes more of a sorority sleepover movie with added art shots and some weird form of digital social network that is not explained, and even then just barely, until the end of the movie. By the end, the horror part kicks in but in a somewhat disconnected fashion, leaving you with more questions than answers, which would be just fine, if it were intended. The ending is predictable as all hell, even though the writer tried to add some confusion here and there, it failed to reach it's mark. What you end up with is a movie that is filled with 80% 12 year old girls being aimlessly mean to each other and 20% senseless killing that doesn't really make much sense as to how they are committed due to everything dwindling down to sheer luck for the killer and just plain bad luck for the victims. Add to that the depiction of 12 year old children drinking vodka and repeating over and over how much they hate their parents, and this movie gets annoying. Overall this movie tries to be scary and fails, tries to send a message about cyber bullying and, in my opinion, fails, tries to be artful with long establishing shots and other forms of cinema tricks and fails... In my opinion this movie had potential but wasted it by going overboard, and is not worth the viewing time.
