The Guns of Navarone (1961)
Still to be beaten for excitement and fine acting
I was part of the crew that worked on this movies, nothing great just a worker but I must say that it was a great experience to do so and in my opinion it turned out to be one of the best films ever produced about the war. It was a very friendly set indeed and all the stars were very profession. right from the start to the finish it was exciting with plenty of action. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone just to say that I give it a 10 and always enjoy seeing it over and over along with saying that I was part of making a excellent film. The party after the film had wrapped up shooting is another story for another time I assure you. Thank You. M J Wareham
Shadow of a Doubt (1943)
Slow but strange Hitchcock film
Being a fan of Hitchcock and having seen all his films this was a slow but wonderfully different style of his and one he used again later in his career. Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotten were just terrific, along with Macdonald Carey and all the supporting cast. The suspense was certain not the blood and hacking type of say Psycho, it was more of a slow build-up type as in The Trouble with Harry and tell the story of terror even in a small town in America in your own home. The master of Suspense at his best I thought and although I have viewed it many, many times it still brings a thrill to me and this is what a good film should do no matter how many times you see it.
