The Estate Agents (2000)
Very enjoyable
I remember this from a couple of years ago. It was very enjoyable as a surreal comedy. Highly recommended. It was fast paced and full of laughs. Rather sadly, I haven't heard anything about another series. I hope it comes back to our screens.
I'm rather surprised that no-one else has commented on this. It was advertised pretty well at the time.
If it's ever repeated, watch it, you won't be disappointed. It's a bit like Spaced, so if you like that, you'll like this. Actually I hope they do repeat it because although I remember that I liked it, I don't remember any particular jokes, apart from a man exploding, hmm...
Cheese Makes You Dream (2003)
Interesting short film
#### Spoilers #####
I saw this very short film when it was featured on I think a BBC programme. It was, well, interesting.
It deals with an old man who has, it seems, become fed up with modern society. This culminates in him brutally attacking a woman who attempts to con him.
It is perhaps a critique of modern society, or simply a story that reminds us of a now-days all too forgotten generation of people.
The direction is good, although the film leaves you with more questions than answers in my opinion. Seven out of ten.
Hawking (2004)
Fascinating insight to the man (****Possible spoilers****)
(****Possible spoilers****)
This dramatisation of the life of a young Stephen Hawking is excellent, an enjoyable programme to watch. Cumberbatch fits the title role perfectly, and the entire cast shine.
I did not really know much about Hawking before watching this, and found myself intrigued by the nature of his realisation of the big bang theory, as well as his personal struggle with motor neurone disease. The whole thing left me feeling inspired. It deals with his illness without focusing too much on it or being maudlin. After all, the man is a genius who should be remembered for his work more than for his ailments.
Overall, extremely enjoyable to watch, suitable for the whole family.
Meet Ricky Gervais (2000)
Good series, but he went on to greater things.
This series was good, and very funny, sometimes darkly funny. Of course, Gervais went on to do the brilliant "The Office", and this was his last venture on Channel 4. Worth a watch if it's ever repeated. It was a good combination of his stand-up comedy and a funny interview technique.
