Dexter: Every Silver Lining... (2013)
Season 8, Episode 2
9/10
Fantastic follow up to the premiere
7 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter improved upon the premiere with an excellent episode that showcases Michael C Hall's directing abilities as well as his acting ones.Dexter finds out his connection to Evelyn Vogel via some old DVD's of Harry seeking her help. These DVD's completely changes the way we viewed Harry and adds an extra layer to Dexter's origin story

Charlotte Rampling is brilliant in her role and has great chemistry with Michael C Hall. All of her conversations with Dexter are great and a treat to watch as she seeks Dexter's help and asks him to hunt down The Brain Surgeon, who Dr Vogel believes is one of her own patients.Dexter hunts down Lyle Sussman, whose prints were found at another crime scene only to find that Sussman was a victim of the Brain Surgeon, not the murderer himself.

Dexter is angry with himself for being wrong, but Dr Vogel calms him down.Their final scene in this episode, where Dr Vogel convinces Dexter that he's perfect just the way he is was a turning point for the series and it's main character.

Meanwhile,Jennifer Carpenter continues to do a brilliant job as the new,bad-ass Debra Morgan. When El Sapo beats the sh!t out of her in a brutal scene,Deb kills El Sapo, which shows how much she's changed since she shot Laguerta.

Quinn's story continues to be boring as ever, but i'm glad Batista found out about Jamie and Quinn in the second episode.Since this is the last season,I sincerely hope the writers would get rid of these annoying subplots and completely focus on Dex/Deb/Vogel.

Game of Thrones: Valar Dohaeris (2013)
Season 3, Episode 1
9/10
Fantastic Premiere
1 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Like with the previous 2 seasons, the premiere titled "Valar Dohaeris" sets up the rest of the season nicely As a die-hard book fan,i wasn't that much satisfied with the opening 10 minutes. In the books,Sam kills the wight himself not Lord Commander Mormont. Also,I wasn't a big fan of the way Jon convinced Mance Ryder(played by Ciaran Hinds)to join the wildlings.Ciaran Hinds is a great choice for the role of the King-Beyond-The-Wall.But the rest of the episode is wonderful. It's a joy to watch Tyrion with Cersei,Bronn and Tywin. The acting is fantastic in all the 3 scenes.

Meanwhile in Astapor,Ser Barristan Salmy saves Daenerys from getting bit by a scorpion thingy.Although this wasn't how things went down in the book,I didn't mind the change The premiere sets up the rest of the season slowly but smartly.

Dexter: Are You...? (2012)
Season 7, Episode 1
10/10
Dexter is back with a bang
9 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter is my favorite show but season 6 was bad.very bad.If it wasn't for the fantastic ending in the finale,i would have lost faith in this show."Are You....?" is an excellent return to form for Dexter as it does all the things that made seasons 1-4 fantastic to watch

This episode opens with a misleading scene where Dexter speeds towards Miami Airport and he books a flight ticket there.Return to the church, and we pick up from the "oh god" in the season 6 finale.Quick thinking was always one of Dexter's strength and he does it here to convince Debra that he killed Travis in self defense. They burn the church down and everyone at Miami Metro is convinced that it was a suicide. Laguerta finds the blood slide that Dexter had clumsily dropped

Mike Anderson is killed by a Viktor Baskov and a huge investigation follows. In Viktor's car they find a dead stripper.Batista and Quinn shuts down the strip club where the stripper worked and questions the manager. After this,we get our first look into this season's big bad,Isaak Sirko.

Meanwhile Debra tries to dig deeper and finds similarities between the table where Dexter kills Travis Marshall and the table where she was almost killed by Brian Moser.Deb digs a lot deeper and this leads to a fantastic ending where Debra asks Dexter the question he has dreaded all his life

Both Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were at their best in this episode and hopefully Jennifer gets some recognition this time around

Supernatural: We Need to Talk About Kevin (2012)
Season 8, Episode 1
9/10
Strong Season Opener
5 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't the biggest fan of supernatural season 7,but Jeremy carver redeems this show with a strong premiere. It's been one year after the events of season 7's finale,Dean gets out of purgatory with the help of Benny the vampire,Sam has a dog and a potential love interest. The reunion between the brothers was not unlike the one in the excellent"Lazarus Rising".Whats funny is,Dean was angry with Sam when Sam went looking for Dean in Lazarus Rising and he's also angry with Sam here because this time he didn't go looking for Dean. Cas is missing, although we didn't get to see much of him.The flashbacks to Purgatory were violent and nicely done, while the dog flashbacks with Sam felt a little cheesy. The other storyline with Kevin was also exciting and possible sign of things to come

Overall, this episode is a strong start to what is hopefully a strong season
