My Personal Favorite Movie
1 August 2003
No doubt about it, I'm a big fan of "Saving Private Ryan." In my humble opinion, those who don't appreciate this movie are a bit too nit-picky. Some say it is an anti-war movie. Others call it "flag waving b@llsh*t." In truth I don't think the film was trying to be either, although you could feel the respect Spielberg has towards military veterans. Also, just because the movie doesn't portray everything exactly like it happened doesn't mean it lacks realism. I believe most people who saw the movie could relate to the characters and their displays of emotion. You could feel the fear in the battle scenes, the grief when Ryan's mother fell to the porch after seeing the chaplain get out of the car. You could relate to the homesickness of the troops who had gone months, if not years, away from home fighting a war on foreign soil. I have never seen another movie that had as large of an emotional impact on me as this one did. "The Thin Red Line" doesn't even come close.

Not that Bad!
1 August 2003
OK, so this movie is no "Ben-Hur," but the worst movie ever? I've heard that the new Jennifer Lopez movie "Gigli" may be worthy of that title, but it isn't fair to put "Opposite Sex..." in that same league. Several of my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie. I personally think Kevin Pollack is hilarious in his role and there are more than a few situations where you can't help but laugh out loud. Granted, if you're waiting to see a film with wide critical acclaim and great acting, then "Opposite Sex..." probably isn't for you. But if you just want to enjoy yourself and laugh, you should give this movie a chance.
