Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Flash Strike (2024)
Good stuff but cmon already!
Another fun episode but man They keep dragging us on to eventually what will be the final episode, which hopefully will be longer than normal, And what I mean by longer at least a full 30-45 minutes not including Closing credits, Also, I just realized by looking at the cast, actor Jimmy Simpson voice's Hemlock! He's one of my favorite character actors. He's so underrated, I knew his voice sounded familiar! I feel like there will be so many unanswered questions, Perhaps there'll be another spinoff, I'd rather just another season of bad batch. I'm really trying to come up with words here to fill the character limit. I hope the final episode is a good product that everybody will be happy with! PS: Rampart is such a whiny wimp LOL.
American Rust (2021)
Great. Season 2 is !!!
I watched the first season back in Sept 2021. I had wondered what the heck happened with it, I had no idea that it was cancelled, And then come to find out, Just last week, April 2024, it's on Amazon Prime as an exclusive with a second season. Now I thought the first season was fine if a little bit slow but good acting good writing et cetera. I started season 2 a few days ago, & i'm on episode six, Sunday morning at 130 AM. It is Like a a good book you can't put down! This is really gripping. For those of you that may be on the fence after finishing the first season- keep going...because, Season two is WAY better than the first.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Good tension
Very good performances from people I'd expect nothing less from. Great edgy tension throughout. I just knew that so many people were going to be complaining about this movie. It is not an action movie. For all of you that are complaining that it was a good buildup and then nothing, are you kidding me? Something did happen! The whole US is under attack. It's just not that kind of movie with action and military action and killing. What is it that everybody always expects from movies these days? There's plenty of action movies. Watch them. This was watching what it was like through the lens of these particular families not knowing what's going on because we are 1,000,000% reliant on devices, Internet, social media, electricity phone service, news at our fingertips etc. I mean, Mahershala Ali's character explained it in detail how the attack was happening, step-by-step scary stuff. What... do you want to see Julia Roberts, Ali, Ethan, Hawk, and Kevin Bacon fighting somebody like the Wolverines in Red Dawn?? Lol.
Best. Christmas. Ever! (2023)
Cute/Cheesy but won't watch again
This is certainly not as horrible as so many people are making it out to be. Like a lot have said, Christmas movies are supposed to be cheesy. The kids are cute. The story really isn't bad. It is cute. People are saying that it's confusing. There's nothing confusing about it. People are saying the plot is all over the place it really isn't. One thing I do agree on is the acting is a bit wooden they all could've done so much better. Who knows what the heck was going on during the filming you never know. As I said in my heading, I certainly won't watch this again, but it was cute enough. No big deal I'm not going to cry/& moan and groan about getting my time back. I've always had a crush on Heather Graham, And always liked Brandy, and I've always liked Jason Biggs, & the actor that played Brandy's characters husband I remember him from zombie nation. He was great in that , but they really all could've done better! Now., onto the new season of the Crown!!
True Lies (2023)
Simple, enjoyable..but
Obviously this will and can NEVER be on the level of the movie, but I am enjoying it. I can turn my brain off & enjoy the silliness, BUT 3 eps in and the one thing that I don't like is the Gib character, sheesh he is SO unlikable, & an annoying person, I kind of liked the actor in the HBO series 'Ballers' but here, I'm sry but he sucks. (he's supposed to be the Tom Arnold part?!?!) I think Beverly D'Angelo is pretty good at the role that Charlton Heston had in the movie. I'll keep watching. Hopefully it gets better and better. I'm such a huge fan of the film and James Cameron and he is a producer on the show.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Russians-Speaking English to ea other...
As my title states, I cannot stand this. Why do they not have them speaking Russian with subtitles. It takes me out every time any American series does this with any nationality, & im American. Same with the Czechs/ Czech President, so, they just speak English to one another, in private???. Maybe it's just me, it's so unrealistic and distracting. Also, the Spec ops team just dropping him and the scientist off in middle of nowhere to meet up with God knows who, how about waiting around for a few minutes?? Duh. I want to like this series, it falls just flat enough for me, that it is a slog. I grew up w/ the Clancy novels & the movies etc. Harrison Ford, Ben affleck(sum of all fears) & I really enjoyed Shadow Recruit with Chris Pine. I really like Jon Krasinski but it's a bit disappointing. ** so it's a week or so later & I came back here to edit/add to this review, I actually wound up enjoying the rest of this latest season. I got over the things that annoyed me, & Overall, was fast paced & thrilling.& that one very funny part in episode 6-that chase scene w/Jack & Mike, as Mike was trying to enjoy his beer & lunch..OMG I fell off my chair laughing.
Let the Right One In (2022)
Have liked since 1st ep.
Well, this series is really good. I know for a lot of ppl, it may be too slow in the first 6,7ish episodes & I hope that most stuck/will stick it out, because the payoff is well worth it, I mean episodes 8-10..just kicked it into high suspenseful gear! As I stated in the heading, I've enjoyed it from the start, I like the cast & who they all play, very well casted show. Whether pro or antagonist, I kind of liked everyone. Was a cliffhanger, so I am really hoping for a second season. Highly recommend. Great drama & suspense! Also remember, just because the story/genre is at its core, vampiric, it does not mean that this is a typical "vampire story". It is a very good suspenseful drama. With a tinge of romance.
Man vs Bee (2022)
Earth's better for having Rowan around
I've loved him since the 97 Bean movie seeing it in the theater, I was in tears laughing. I enjoyed his bond spoofs Johnny English, & Mr Bean's Holiday. After that I'd then dipped into some of his early work. Great seeing him in this new lighthearted comedy series Man V Bee. His timing, facial expressions & physical comedy is absolutely hilarious & gut-busting humor. & He's as good as ever in his older age. He's a master at "everything he touches he destroys" trope!!
Outer Range (2022)
Def creepy & suspenseful
Im glad I stuck around till the end of Ep2, now im fully into it. Very well cast, good acting, & Brolin is awesome as usual. I like Tom Pelfry(Helen's brother in Ozark). I was hoping they weren't going to ignore Royal appearing after being pushed, & well, we certainly got some explanation. This story so far to me is very Stephen King-ish. I cant tell if this is a multi-verse thing or even time jumping, idk wth it is yet, but, Im here for it.
American Horror Story: The Future Perfect (2021)
I like the flashback/bl & wh
I enjoyed the 50s/60s/70s parts of The last 4 episodes. I enjoyed Neal McDonaugh's "Eisenhower" & Craig Sheffer's "Nixon" & the others "Kennedy" Paulson's "Mamie" etc. I love old school alien/area 51 stuff. But I'm w/ others on the fact that, That's it??? & I'd rather just One-10 episode story, per an entire season. Red Tide/Death Valley are mediocre, & while not so Dramatically bad, as many put it, it's just not all that great either, this whole recent season. Everyone is diff. You cannot poss please everyone. And everyone has a right to their opinion, be it good bad or indifferent.
Another Life (2019)
So disappointed w/2nd season
I came across this show back in 2019 & I really Loved the first season. I could not wait for the second season, So-It is Friday October 15, & I've given up at the start of Episode 4 of season 2, I cannot continue. Such a Shame, I had high hopes. Im a Sackoff fan, but this is bad. Different writers for this season?? So boring and dry & in 4 episodes it's just redundant go nowhere nothingness. Absolutely bland dialogue. Just my opinion. You may feel different & that's totally fine.
Truth Be Told (2019)
Enjoyed S1, Can't finish 2nd-epS2
As my title says, I rather enjoyed the first season. All around. All the actors, story, etc. HOWEVER; Halfway through the second ep of Season 2, i'm dumbfounded as to just how BORING, Bland, & unremarkable it is. Octavia & K. Hudson have AWFUL chemistry, the story is super boring and ridiculous, & uninteresting. I Cannot get into it. I'm writing this review as it's playing. I had high hopes for Season2 based on how much i liked the first season. Oh well. I still love many of the other Apple originals though.
Accommodations (2018)
Light hearted. Not that bad
People complaining, about rich ppl complaining, is SO annoying. Regardless of where anyone is in life, wealthy, middle class, poor, what business is it if ours. They're people, like us. Like you. What?...they can't have problems because they have money?..money that they earn, from hard work from whatever it is they do, from having gone to school/university?!? I enjoyed this, for its not taking itself too seriously, I rather liked the characters too. I am not rich, i don't care that there are rich ppl out there while i'm not. I'm also a born and bred New Yorker, so the NYC ambience resonates w/me.
- It's the same thing w/ Huge tent pole movies, Sci-Fi/Action, Marvel, Star Wars etc etc.... where people just have no idea how to sit back, relax your mind, & enjoy a movie. Everything doesn't have to be so perfect, or make 100% sense..You don't have to agree 100% w/ everything about it. Loosen up a bit.
Queen of the South (2016)
Almost over. Too bad
So I just finished the penultimate episode. June 3, '21. I wish these episodes were a solid hour, & the season maybe 13 episodes & not just 10. This final season has been solid action & suspense. I hope they do it justice w/ just 40ish minutes left, next week. I was finally psyched for the storyline to catch up to the "future" which is probably our present day. Always recalling the beginning when Teresa is narrating, & you see her "future" self. I'll miss this series. I know there'll prob be some characters getting killed, i will be PISSED if Pote & Kelly Anne get killed. (& James/Teresa)
-To people moaning and groaning about the violence &/or glorifying it,.... Give me break, & get a life. It's fictional television drama. You Do Not have to watch it.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: The Whole World Is Watching (2021)
Wow, Holy $/8t...
I love every minute of every episode unLike Most ppl. So, w/that said, DAMN ....this episode makes me truly wish, that this was a regular ongoing series, w/ 20 hour long episodes. I very much enjoy all the characters, main & side, but Zemo/Daniel Brüel is the MVP for me. I've Liked "Zemo" since seeing Civil War in the theater. & he's an incredible actor, HIGHLY underrated, & flies under the radar, Brüel is/does.
Cosmos (2019)
INSPIRING & Fun
I recently came across this nice film in April/2020, on Amazon Prime. It's a well acted, well paced, well written & very cool film. It has such a natural exciting feel to it, while it's not what many ppl may think, a loud, special effects "boom" extravaganza, IT IS suspenseful, & edgy. About..these 3 guys, 2 of which are long time close friends who'd kinda lost touch, experienced astronomers, they really come together, along w/ the "new" guy, in coming close to being on the cusp of discovering something truly and utterly REMARKABLE. The story made me truly like these guys, & root for them, great character development. It actually inspired me to go outside few nights a week after midnight these last several weeks, i live in NY suburbs..(especially during lockdown from covid-19 & just itching to do stuff, w/ my binoculars, as well as my naked eyes, & stargaze!!) ive always been into astronomy, space, space travel, sci-fi, etc etc Just havent acted on it as much as i'd hoped the last several years. Def check it out! You will feel like ur out w/ the 3 guys, in cramped quarters, w/ their equipment, just dyin for some great discovery!!
Hunters (2020)
Really good. It's scripted. NOT A DOC.!!Chill out
I liked most everything about Hunters. The cast especially from AP & LL, Saul Rubinek, Carol Kane, etc etc, a very well casted series. I'm a history buff, & I was well aware of the main elements of this story. I'm a native NYer, so I get the NY vibe, the "NY JEWISH Vibe, though I'm catholic, I've Close Jewish friends. I was 5 in 1977. Im well read on ww2/Holocaust/Operation Paperclip.../. the fact that Nazis were 'invited' by the U.S. & U.S.S.R,to work in space program/govt. & Nazis hiding among either Americans or Argentinians. First & foremost I look at this series in the genre style of "Alternate History" SIMILAR TO MAN IN HIGH CASTLE.
Anything at all that depicts any decent human being going after pieces of S..T such as Nazis, I'm all in. This is not a documentary it's a scripted series w/ fictional and over dramatic themes thrown in the mix, just like anything "based on true story/or events". I'll leave w/ this bit of common sense truth, all entertainment is 100% subjective, if you like it great. If u don't, fine, you all have a right to like/dislike something. No need to get political, sensitive, etc. Anyone or any organization that has a serious issue, contact the exec producers. What can I tell ya. I enjoyed the heck out of this series. Even though one specific element left me disappointed, that's just my opinion, no spoilers!
The Irishman (2019)
CRINGE BOMB/Excruciating
All the bad reviews are 100% true and accurate. At 46, Of course I've always loved Scors., & ALL these actors. But this was just a horrid waste. Senseless, no need. But, mind-boggling as to why he didn't use any number of dozens of terrific actors in their 30s-40s to portray the guys in the early years. The ENTIRE film was so difficult to sit through. It certainly cheapens The Godfather's, Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull, etc. All these guys in their late 60's-early 80's, omg it's sad & pathetic. Sry, NOT sry. I just watched silly Jack&Jill- Pacino cracked me up. Dirty Grandpa w/ DeNiro & Zac Effron..stupid but hysterical. The film w/DeNiro & Anne Hathaway where he plays a retired intern was charming. HOWEVER, too bad they didn't realize they had no business doing another gangster flick!! SHAME. I'd DEF Recommend skipping. You're not missing anything. I promise. I
2023: it has grown on me recently. I changed my rating from 1 to 6. I still cannot fathom why Scorsese didn't cast younger actors to play the characters' younger selves. The cgi/de-aging was/still is awful. & DeNiro kicking the grocery store man is still hard to watch- because it looks ridiculous.
Poldark (2015)
Acting at its finest. Beautiful & Sad & Fun!
I noticed Poldark while browsing for a decent tv series to delve into during one of my series "dry" spells & am I ever so glad I did. Here I am on Halloween night 2018, just 2 weeks ago I watched the pilot, & I'm almost through season 3! I'm a 45 yr old American male from NY, a born & bred NYer, & I thoroughly enjoy British television. I'm a tv junkie! I must've watched over 1000 episodes of tv, EVERYTHING from sitcoms, dramas, comedy/action/war/politics/gangs/romance....etc & on & on, American & British. Poldark is EXPERTLY cast. Each & Every single actor and actress/EVERY single character on this show is BRILLIANT. I've recommended it to my best friends, all of my relatives, co-workers. Such a great tale of how people from such varying classes or, "stations" in life & how they co-exist, & an awesome showing of the best of humanity/ (Ross, Demelza, Dwight, Capt. Henshaw, Geoffrey) AND, not to be outdone by the absolute worst of the worst of Awful, Nasty, putrid s.o.b's of society-back then or today... The Warleggans(GEORGE) immeadiately come to mind. Take Jack Farthing for instance, he has got to be one of the best television or character actors working today, right? I mean, honest to God, I have never ever ever ever HATED any character in my natural born life as much as I hate George Warleggan, I CRINGE every time a scene has him in it!! The cinematography is beautiful, I've never been, but Cornwall is so nice looking. I Also do appreciate the nice solid episode time of about one full hour give or take. One thing I hate about American "hour long" dramas, is that theyre 38-42 minutes. (18-22 minutes of commercials). If you're thinking of trying this series, please don't give it another thought, & begin at once!
