Underwater (2020)
Ignore the haters
Ignore the hate. It's a great, fun movie! Little callbacks to things like Alien and The Abyss. I enjoyed it a lot. It's really effective in doing what it needs to do. The *surprises* as I'll call them are really nicely designed. Definitely spooky and effective. If I were actually grading this I'd give it a solid 7/10 because it's well above average. But if you look at it as B-Movie / horror / scifi fun, it will NOT disappoint. Give it a watch for sure!
I'm not sure what else to say here, but I do have a text minimum so I will reiterate one more time, if you're thinking about just watch it. Haha 👌🏼
Split Second (1992)
"What's so great about Dick Durkin?" - Classic!
The less you know going in the better! I've been on an 80's classics kick lately. Re-watching all the classics like Blade Runner, Robocop & Terminator. While those are masterpieces, I admit this isn't on that level. But that's okay. It's still a very fun ride when you're looking for something with that 80's classic feel (yes I know this movie came out in '92 lol but still has the feel of the 80s). Rutger Hauer is great, as always. Same goes for Kim Cattrall. Alastair Duncan was the surprise for me. I found his character very charming & a good balance to the more hardened Stone. It's definitely worth the watch & is very charming in its own way. If you're on the fence, watch it!
"What's so great about Dick Durkin?" Loved this scene lol.
Alien: Covenant (2017)
Ignore the hate, if you're an Alien fan go see it!!
Intriguing & strange, if not completely nightmarish. Alien: Covenant carries on the mythos perfectly. If you're a fan go see it! I love the way Ridley ties it to Prometheus so closely, yet still makes Covenant its own film with its own feel. Can't wait for the next one! Definitely ignore the hate and see it if you're at all into the Alien franchise.
Prom (2011)
Not What I Expected
This movie was far from what I expected and certainly not worth my $8.75 movie ticket. It's not exciting and extremely predictable. The whole time I kept hoping it would get better or more exciting and it just never did. I was very disappointed. There was really not even any sparks between characters. They just kind of read their lines and moved from scene to scene. There is never a "wow" moment in this film. I can however see how it would be a great movie for much much younger kids because it is very clean and good natured. Nothing for parents to worry about. But if you're looking for the kind of teen romcom humor as in John Tucker Must Die or Mean Girls, do not waste your time on this movie. Definitely not worth your time.
