OXV: The Manual (2013)
A "Wait for it" film..
This is definitely one of those "Wait for it" films. It is critical not to miss a scene, a word, or even a gesture. Overall unpredictable, it is exceptionally thought provoking... even hours after the film.
The plot/concept is not necessarily unique, but the mechanism is obscure.. very imaginative, but not something we all haven't thought of from time to time. this sort of a play on mind over matter, fate and destiny versus free will, and logic versus emotion. You also have ruminations of a sort of conspiracy theory-esq drams.
The acting and script was quite good. The actors had to be skilled to manage the subtleties of lines and expressions to deliver the role appropriately.
Worthy of being in my library and watching again.. and again..I give this a 10/10
Rag Tag (2006)
Excellent Film
We have become so accustomed to one way of directing/producing a film. I believe that a film has to be reviewed based on it's own merit, not some made up standard.
This was a great film. A very simple storyline that provides a glimpse into the past to two boys (with many unknowns).. then the twists and turns that surround their reunion as grown men.
I especially enjoyed that many vague points or events where many viewer made assumptions that were clarified at the end. That, in itself, was very creative. As well, we have a credible view into another culture.
Well done! So different from anything I've ever scene.
