Very difficult and well executed adaptation
6 October 2023
If you have read the book then you know it is hard to follow and requires many back-pedalling and even near giving ups with the jumping of sequences. This series has done a stalwart job of not only clarifying the story and its events, but also in casting, set drops, costumery and cinematography. Go with the journey and have patience. It is all too easy to fall into turning the off switch within minutes of trying something simply because it isn't go-go-go from the beginning, however we need to retrain ourselves to hold back and wait lest we allow for good work to pass by unnoticed. Please do see this series through and you will not be disappointed, you may even understand the novel better after having done so.

What a beautifully rendered story. The way it is shot and acted, well the whole production of it actually, is just so resplendent and tugs at all of your emotions and heart strings. How a simple 20 odd minutes can make you journey through a tide of emotions and leave you deeply connected to characters and sitting in the moments as they play out is unexpected and glorious.

The last scene...
20 January 2021
What a beautifully heart wrenching scene this episode delivered to us. It in itself is worthy of accolades. It's the unspoken that conveys so much and triggers so many emotions in a viewer. You forget you're watching actors performing a scene and instead. You get completely absorbed and immersed as a peeper spying in on a extremely intimate and vulnerable moment. You feel - well, I feel - remorse in intruding on the scene and yet, at the same time, so honoured in witnessing such vulnerability, fear and honesty. This programme is underrated and magnificently executed. Thank you to all.

So emotional

One of my favourite episodes! The music is so heart wrenching and just complements all of Catra's struggles so well here. Big shout out to Sunna Wehrmeijer for the truly beautiful scores throughout the series.

Emotionally quartered

This episode - this whole series in fact- was incredible! It's rare that show gets better with every season. This episode in particular will always stuck in my mind and nestle deep in my heart. Truly beautiful in its writing and shaping of Adora and Catra, in its artistry and animation. Really brilliant animation; the delicate finger movements, each micro facial expression and physicality of accurate motion. I just cannot speak highly enough of the compelling production and story that is this show and all exemplified in this episode. The story between these two characters has to be one of the greatest on screen, there I said it.

Just a listener

This album (second of two: Break Up and Apart) is really dope. The effort put into putting this video for Bad Dreams is over and above dedication to making a great music experience. Watch and you will be mesmerised into static shock of astonishment. Never will you have watched such a brilliantly crafty and psychotropic concept of a video for music. Both albums by Pete York ft. Scarlett Johansson are worth listening to on loop, so hop to it.
