Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003)
Impossible, but funny
I came into this movie with pretty high hopes, considering it was a sequel. However, I soon realized that to enjoy this movies, a person had to suspend their disbelief to even tolerate this movie. Halfway through, I started laughing and couldn't stop. It's hilarious, especially if you see it with the right people, but it's definitely one of those pointless movies that are perfect for summer.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
Alright, I guess....
I had absolutely no clue what this movie was about when I walked in and had to sit in the front row, but it was mildly enjoyable, nonetheless. Although the plot jumps around and has huge holes in it, the action scenes make up for its downfalls. And perhaps the movie is more enjoyable if you know the history of the characters in it, such as Dorian Gray. Or maybe that just makes the movie clearer.
Magical Mystery Tour (1967)
Not great, but still entertaining
This movie may not be nearly as good as "A Hard Day's Night" or "Help!," but it certainly doesn't deserve all the bad press it gets. Reeling from the death of their manager, the Beatles had to rely on Paul to lead the way, and MMT's unexpected flop seemed to bring them to their senses. One can definitely see the effects of acid and pot in this movie, and it's quite interesting, even if only as a sign of the times. The lack of a discernible plot and the random cast members detract slightly, but it's certainly worth watching at least once.
Perhaps one of its best moments is the only existing live performance of "I Am the Walrus," which is pretty cool to see, and the rest of the song performances (Fool on the Hill, Blue Jay Way, Your Mother Should Know) aren't bad, either. The aerial scene is beautiful to watch, though, and makes good use of the song "Flying."
But don't buy it unless you're a serious fan; you'd do better to use your money on the other Beatles movies.
Help! (1965)
See it if you can!
Unfortunately, copies of this movie are getting harder and harder to find, but if you find a used copy, grab it while you can. Despite the fact that most consider "A Hard Day's Night" to be the best Beatles movie, this movie is surely more entertaining. Not only is it in color this time, a more definitive plot emerges, and the Beatles themselves (especially Ringo) are given more of a chance to act.
The soundtrack was brilliant, and the scenes of the movie with music are highly entertaining. Even if you can barely tell the Beatles apart from one another, give this movie a chance, and laugh yourself silly. Several of my friends (non-Beatlefans) have seen this movie, and they loved it. It's a great spoof of all the 60s secret agent movies, and way funnier. The scenery is gorgeous (the Alps, the Bahamas), and so are the actors!
A Hard Day's Night (1964)
I loved it, but I just can't give it a 10.
I'm a huge Beatles fan, but this movie is just slightly overrated. Perhaps I just don't see how revolutionary it was, but I don't like it as much as Help!
It's entertaining, the other actors in it are excellent, and the soundtrack is fantastic, but it's just not quite a "10." Still a classic, though.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)
James Stewart shines
This movie never gets old, and I still love watching it. One of Jimmy's best performances, and in general a great family film. It's well-written and excellently acted, and I have nothing but praise for this awesome movie!
