Footloose (2011)
Seen 'Em Both. Love 'Em Both.
Sure, I wasn't around for the Footloose hype (if there was ever one) of the 1980s when the original movie came out, but alas, I did see it. I have also seen the remake. And I believe them to be great movies!
I just got back from the theater, actually, and found the film to be quite enjoyable! It's great fun! But not for all ages. A bit too raunchy for the little kids that want to get up and start singing.
Story tells of Ren McCormick wanting to oppose the law of no dancing in the town of Boumont. The plot is a little flat throughout most of the movie, but the great cast seems to make this movie a worthwhile entertainment ride!
Now, the movie doesn't have as much dancing, but I will give it that Kenny Wormald really has amazing dance moves! And Julianne Hough (known as a country singer) has some great acting chops! Especially in the scene with her Reverend dad, played by Dennis Quaid.
It's a little too raunchy for parents to bring their kids to. Lots of sexual themes and language. But if anyone is looking for a film to just smile at, this is your movie!
But the real talent goes to Miles Teller, the dimwitted redneck, Willard. Every line that he had, the audience in the theater would just burst out into laughter! The funniest/best scene of the movie is arguably where the girls are teaching him how to dance, and he starts to dance everywhere!
Great movie! 8/10
Shake It Up (2010)
Shake It Up...Turn It Off
Alright, I admit, when I first saw the show, I thought it had potential. But after more and more episodes were produced, I really was just annoyed.
The promos for the show were absolutely...dumb. But I thought it could exceed my expectations.....sadly...they fell flat.
Let's start with the characters, shall we? CeCe Jones- When I first saw her, I thought she was a better actress than Zendaya.....I was mistaken. She tries way too hard just to be the "Disney Channel Queen" and to actually be as good as past DC stars. She's really just a 13-year old girl who thinks she can be all that when she really isn't..like Miley Cyrus. (Though her show was a hit) Rocky Blue- WTF kind of a last name is "Blue"? Rocky is slightly annoying. She can be funny, and I sometimes compare her to Raven. But Raven was funny and not trying to be all that, like Bella Thorne (CeCe). Rocky is over-the-top and trying to be a likable character. She's also trying to make funny dialogue that will stick with fans and become trending ("HIT ME WITH A RACCOON!") was a line that was WAY TOO over-selled.
Flynn Jones- He's annoying. Too twitchy and always looking at the camera. But I do admit that he's very talented.
Ty Blue- He's a great dancer! But he's not a great actor. He's a bit cocky, but he's probably one of the most likable characters.
Deuce Martinez- He's just too cocky and conceited. He's also not a very good actor either. His character is pretty irrelevant to the show.
Gunther and Tinka Hessenheffer- The ONLY reason why I give 2 stars is because of these 2 characters! They are the funniest blonde duo since Ryan and Sharpay! They are the epitome of the show and I enjoy watching every moment of them on screen! They're sassy and very witty, but also very snarky! They're great! Henry Dillon- He's my favorite before G&T. He is very smart and he's hilarious! I hope they keep his character if this show unfortunately keeps running.
The show is pretty much over-produced and just a big waste of money. The jokes are corny, the stories are lame, the acting is bad (Except for the 3 characters I named), and my biggest problem is that the main stars are just unappealing. Usually, with DC shows, you would have good-looking characters for the show to keep it a hit (Lizzie McGuire, Suite Life, Hannah Montana)...but these?....not.
2/10 for me.
Jersey Shore (2009)
Hor.Ri.Ble.....but I'm addicted.
This show has probably got to be the most stupid show on television right now. Cameras following a group of locals around New Jersey as they try and struggle through not getting too drunk or having so much sex that their crotches hurt in the morning.
Thought...I always want to know how this show keeps you tuned in. Honestly, I hate this show, but I CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT! I once sat in a basement watching about 3 hours of it. Maybe it's because people like drama? Or they just turn in because it shows people what NOT TO DO. It's honestly a horrible show. But....why is it so appealing? 20-something year olds talking like they're spoiled, rotten 13 year olds. It's honestly just stupid. And girls thinking they can come in just about anywhere and bitch off to someone is just insulting. They make Italians look like the f*cking morons.
It's usually just sex, alcohol, and partying for these idiots, but I sometimes just want to know what will happen next.
Don't watch this unless you REEEEEEEEALLLLLY are bored.
The Office (2005)
The Office surpasses expectations!
Albeit, I was a little skeptical about the show when I first heard about it from my friend. I had always said I was into the show, but never saw it because my parents never liked it. So, never seeing it, I went out and bought the 4th season on DVD...and LOVED IT!!!!! This show is TV history and I'm not surprised about it's critical praise and accolades! The show is set in Scranton, Pennsylvania following a fictional paper company called "Dunder Mifflin" (Now Dunder Mifflin: Sabre) as it struggles to survive against the rising technology economy. With slap stick comedy and genius writing, there is no way that this comedy could ever fail to be one of the best. It's smart, witty, and sometimes neurotic, but that's all the fun of what you can expect from "The Office"! Rounding off the cast is funny-man Steve Carell, who plays notorious dumb-founded boss, Michael Scott. Michael is a bit of a card, very much like a child, and sometimes a bit dumb. But he is very kind and cares for all of his co-workers. He is oblivious to consequences and bad choices he makes, but he gets the job done.
The supporting cast consists of Jenna Fischer, who is receptionist (now office assistant), Pam Beesly-Halpert; John Krasinski as sarcastic and efficient, but lazy Jim Halpert; Rainn Wilso as "ignorant slut" turned kiss-ass, Dwight Schrute; Ed Helms as a cappella joy and imbecile, Andy Bernard, BJ Novak as hardworking Temp/Corporate boss turned jazzy/undefined character, Ryan Howard; and Angela Kinsey as Bible-thumping, cat-loving, very stern, Angela Martin.
The supporting cast is varied and very well played out. The accountants consist of smart Latino Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nunez), bumbling M&M lover Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) and Angela Martin. The Sales team is consisted of the Halperts, Dwight, nurturing but stern Phyllis Vance (Phyllis Smith) and sassy black less-than-enthusiastic Stanley Hudson (Leslie David Baker). Customer Relations is talkative Indian-native Kelly Kapoor (the always funny Mindy Kaling), Human Resources is shy and quiet/Michael's enemy Toby Flenderson (Paul Lieberstein). Kate Flannery is easy-going and uncaring Meredith Palmer, Craig Robinson as laid-back, cool Darryl Philbin, and Ellie Kemper is new, fun-loving receptionist Erin Hannon.
Season 3 said goodbye to warehouse worker Roy Anderson (David Denman) and Season 4 said goodbye to stern and once very hard working now drunk Jan Levenson (Melora Hardin). Season 7 added a new cast consisting of Zach Woods as tall, lanky, and un powerful Gabe Lewis, Academy Award Winner Kathy Bates as strict and very powerful head of Sabre Corp, Jo Bennett, and returning (now regular) Amy Ryan as the sweet and female version of Michael, Holly Flax.
Michael leaves with Holly in the end of the 7th season and they live happily ever after in Colorado.....but the show goes on.
The show is wonderful and one of my favorites! Always has nice concepts and sometimes can be a bit over-the-top is there to make you laugh and smile. I love this and I encourage EVERYONE to see it! 11/10
The Joker Blogs (2008)
Want to see a magic trick?...Then watch JokerBlogs!
I have but one word for this web series...AMAZING. Seriously, the creators behind JokerBlogs truly are magicians because they know how to capture an audience, and they know how to reel them in.
Taking place between "Dark Knight" and "Rises", psychiatrist Harleen Quinzel has taken a special interest in patient #4479 at Arkham. Gatherinh bits and clues to the whereabouts of Joker's (McClure) mental stability, they quickly fall in love. Problem is: She's getting married. All sessions of Joker/Harleen's time together is recorded. After breaking loose of the psychiatric ward, Joker takes a camera to film mayhem throughout Gotham, and seeking to crash Quinzel's wedding to change her mind. Leaving clues and hints as to where he is, GCPD sets out to capture the mass-murdering clown. But does he get caught? The series is wonderfully put together and props to the actors. Each episode is a thrill, but unless you want Batman references and developing story, I say skip to episode 8, "BRB", because that's where the story really takes off. It is very smart and written well, and it's actually satirical and funny! You'll enjoy the mystery and mayhem of the delicious nail-biter! 11/10
Glee: Original Song (2011)
Original Song was actually AWESOME!
This episode was probably one of the best of the season! Singing, dancing, and laughter all around! The Rachel/Quinn/Finn story line just dragged on and on. I mean, really, just let Finn be with one girl and have the other find some other guy. I'm sort of tired of the "back-and-forth" between Fabsonerry.
But I am finally glad for Kurt and Blaine to end up together! I mean, even though they kiss, they are probably soul-mates and are kind to one another. Kurt finally telling Blaine off for singing all the solos (which it was about time) was nice. And I liked how they dealt with the situation of the two. And their singing was IMPECCABLE! Raise You Glass was one of the best performances of the night!
But I think the best performance was Mercedes' "Hell to the No" song! She had me laughing and dancing! And Puck's "Big-Ass Heart" was hilarious to watch!
But Glee did something that hasn't been done before in season 2: They moved you! During their "Loser Like Me" song, I was getting that feeling inside of me that just...I haven't seen since last season! It's warm and tingly, and it makes me feel good. And Kurt screaming and handing out the "L" hands in the middle of the song was great!
Kathy Griffin was a little over-the-top for the episode. But she was JUST LIKE Sarah Palin, which is what her character was intended for. And Loretta Davis' "Nun who was a stripper" was so funny! But Sue...she just...she was funny and stupid. You don't just punch a woman for losing. But hey, that's Sue Sylvester for you.
All in all, this episode was Glee at its finest! I loved every minute of it, and it kept me smiling and laughing and singing! I would DEFINITELY watch it over and over and over again! 10/10
Glee: Sexy (2011)
Sorta Sexy...
The episode altogether? It was moderate. The storyline was pretty good, teaching the kids not to have sex and what not. But the way it was approached was...eh. I mean, singing about it and making a joke and mockery of it wasn't the best way.
I was glad to see Gwyneth Paltrow back in this episode! She's always such a fresh face and very nice to see on the screen! But she wasn't as likable in this episode as her previous "Substitute" visit. I mean, revealing that she had a sex tape floating around was just..irresponsible. But she's always funny. But not as many one-liners as she did earlier. I guess I just expected so much out of her from her last impression, that is just fell flat of expectations.
Her hook-up with Will? I think she could've done better. I hate what RIB is trying to do to him. Be so modest, then lose all of that, and then try to gain it back slowly. He was just so...annoying in this episode, as he is in most of Season 2. I just, I just don't like him that much anymore. His character needs some serious help. He belongs better with Emma.
Speaking of Emma, Jayma Mays needs some sort of award for this episode or something! I mean, I just laughed SO HARD at this woman when the episode aired! She had more one-liners than Holly, and she was SO MUCH FUNNIER! I just laughed and laughed, I don't think I've ever lashed out so much at a Glee episode before! I mean, I've had little chuckles, but Emma just made me laugh! Like Brittany.
The Brittana story line was flawless. I was wondering how they would play out, and when Santana finally told her true feelings for Brittany, I was like "FINALLY!" But it was sweet for Brittany not to dump Artie just for Santana, because she truly cares for him. That was sweet.
And I think Mike and Tina should've had at least a line, I mean, they are one of the biggest couples of the Glee club. And more couples? Puckzes! I love them, but their need to make a sex tape for fame just..bothered me. But I still love them! And I'm a Fabson (Quinn and Finn) shipper, so I'm glad they're back together. Finn was the only one who truly cared for her. But I liked the growing Rachel/Quinn friendship!
And on a last note, Kurt and Blaine! They were great in this episode! Even though there wasn't much of them, I still liked what little they had! Blaine, I'm so glad he's there to make all Kurt's problems just go away! He is the star of that relationship! And each time Sue got Kurt's attention, she just called him "Porcelain", a quick nod to an earlier episode. But I don't like her under usage, she could've been great!
All in all, it was an okay episode. One I will watch again, just won't be in a hurry to.
