I don't understand the low ratings?
30 March 2017
Yes, it's a feel good movie. That genre exists so there must be movies to satisfy that! It brings you into through a dog's many lifetimes of experience and that dogs == love. :) A Dog's Purpose is a perfect movie for the family and pet (especially dog) lovers. It's perfect for all ages and could potentially be a movie classic. It's a movie that I will definitely show my children if I ever will have one.

I didn't fully played the game but I enjoyed it 100%
23 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't fully play the game. Growing up with my younger brother, there were games that he played first and progressed far that I didn't bother playing and just actually watched him play and enjoy. The same is true for myself and other games. That way, we shared each others' experiences, kind of like the Animus.

I can understand that those who never played, seen or experienced the game would have mixed feelings about the movie. It's extremely hard to cover all aspects and stories of the game in one film. Personally, I do believe they did an excellent job in the preserving the game's heart in the film. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would like to see a second film.

A humble journey through life from beginning to end
31 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Definitely one of the must-watch films of your life!

This movie is definitely in the top 100 must watch films in the entire world. At least, it is for me.

It's a simple story of what life has to bring and how one handles it. It makes you realize that there is a reason for everything. There is a reason why this person is happy, why that person is grumpy and why the world is how it is. We all have our stories. A man's true character is not measured by mere first impressions. It is through opening ones' book slowly, reading the story and being a part of it.

There is nothing more I can say than, "Just see for yourself."

The Trial (I) (2014)
10/10
Underrated......
24 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
By far this is one of the Filipino movies that I really enjoyed in recent years. It has the typical drama and tear (ninjas cutting onions) that most Filipino films has. But most of all, it actually is telling a message.. a pretty good one at that.... It's not an original concept but hey, nothing is ever original. This incarnation/version of a court-room drama involving a mentally retarded person has its unique flavor. It also showcases a very unorthodox family which fits current times very well.

Acting is superb. There is no totally happy ending and its also not that bad. All in all, I give a 10. :)

Real Genius (1985)

Nostalgic film that inspired me to become a physicist
2 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I was born mid 1980's. I remember seeing this film early 90's. I loved it when I first saw it. It basically inspired me to pursue knowledge. It was after this film that I began disassembling my toys and making bigger cooler toys. It sparked my imagination. It's the film that made me pursue Physics up to now. :) It's a classic film that's underrated by most. The soundtrack is awesome. The last scene when Everybody wants to rule the world by Tears for fears starts playing is very Nostalgic. It makes me remember all my memories as a child growing up. It actually makes me wonder that in this fantasy world of Real Genius what's going to happen to these guys (C. Knight and gang). Do they start their own company? Do they get rich? Anything is possible. Sometimes I really hope they made a series out of this with the same actors because their chemistry is really awesome. It would have been more fun to see more of them working on something. :)

It's not the best but I enjoyed it out of pure nostalgia.
21 July 2016
So, I understand why many people don't like this film. I saw the first one as a kid. It was a time when personal technology was coming to everyone. The world was getting smaller. As a young boy, the first film actually inspired me to thirst for knowledge in science. I eventually became a physicist and if I do things right soon I will get my PhD. It was this first Independence day film, Contact and few other movies sci- fi films that I saw when I was young that inspired me in my current career path.

So watching, the sequel is a massive nostalgia for me. I know... The plot is not the best. Too many clichés.... But come on... Aliens! Pew pew pew!!! I definitely enjoyed it. It's definitely a feel good movie so to speak. It is what it is. I would watch it again. I wouldn't even mind seeing the a 3rd sequel where the battle becomes galactic with the the good alien's help. Anyway, I'm scoring it 9 out of 10 because I'm judging it based on how I would have reacted years ago if I saw this film immediately after the first one. It's a film that children nowadays would probably love.

If you're looking for some complex brilliant sci-fi film, then this isn't the film for you. Go watch Europa Report or Interstellar. I highly recommend both, btw. The only down side to this film is that it came rather late.

No Spoiler: Mixed feelings but I still love it.
23 March 2016
I guess I'm a bit biased. I grew with Superman and Batman. They were both integral in my childhood. I'm a huge fan of Christopher Nolan's take on the dark knight. I believe nothing surpasses that trilogy's closeness to reality. I think Snyder tried to kind of add some Nolanesque elements to it but somehow fell a bit short. Ben Afflect's performance was very much admirable. He did justice to the legend of Batman. It's more like the comics. Overall, I really enjoyed the action. I'm also hyped with the upcoming Wonder Woman film. Gal Gadot did a very good job. She also somehow fits the role of an Amazonian warrior princess.

Point Break (2015)

Exceeded my expectations! But not appreciated by many
22 January 2016
Normal people who dread of the thought of extreme sports won't appreciate this movie. I've read many bad reviews and I'm sure it's coming from those who don't understand people who do extreme sports.

Fortunately, I'm an extreme polysports aficionado myself from rock climbing to freediving and even skiing and downhill mountain biking. I'm not as extreme as these redbull athletes are but I know and understand what goes through their minds and why they do it. Normal people just won't understand. That's why this movie is so awesome! It really pays respect to different extreme sports. It's more a tribute to all extreme athletes. There were so many in the film including Chris Sharma. This alone already makes this film super awesome! Those who rated it bad either don't know those athletes or just plain puss***.

Creed (II) (2015)

This is how old films should be continued.....
3 December 2015
In the last 10 years, there have been too many remakes and continuations of old films. It's getting exhausting and annoying. What Sly has done though, is recapture the essence of the old Rocky films by starting a completing new journey. I enjoyed every Rocky film and Creed just brings a new dimension to it all. Every film is a reflection of the present or what was present at that time. Sly takes you a journey of a character that deals with what life has to throw at you. Now, the torch has been passed on to new blood still some-what family. Creed might probably be the best film I've seen in 2015. If you're a true Rocky fan, Creed won't disappoint. :) It brings potential for a sequel but it will be very hard to top. If this is the end of the Rocky/Creed franchise, it will seal the 7 connected films as by far the best film series ever made. At least, in my opinion.

The Unit (2006–2009)

Thrilling and addicting. Best Special Ops series or movie I've ever seen
18 September 2015
I've never been in the Military but I've always been fascinated by military history. Recently, I started reading into Navy SEALs eventually found out about SFOD- Delta. I watched many movies related to Special Ops stuff. Eventually my search led me to The Unit. As soon as I finished the first episode, I was hooked. Hooked to the point where I was reading more about Special Forces, Green Berets, Rangers, etc... It even prompted me to order Haney's Book and read and watch Dale Comstock's (ex-Delta operator) interviews. I have no idea to which extent the realism of the shows pans out. I'm sure in reality it's not as portrayed in the show but I'm sure it's just as complex. I've grown to admire the US Army's Special Forces specially the Deltas or whatever they're called. The series shows that they are just as human as us but they are at a different league on how they handle things. All in all, it's a top notch show! I love it and would highly recommend it to any military fan. For those who enjoy it but don't know much about special ops, I suggest you do some research. It's very interesting and learned a lot. :D
