Slasher (2004)
Not bad
I saw this at the Nashville Film Festival. It was entertaining. There
are some good laughs in it. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
But if you happen to catch it, you'll probably enjoy it.
This may sound like a really superficial comment, but the Slasher
has a very raspy voice. It started to drive me crazy towards the end.
If you are thinking of buying a car, I would see this movie. You'll
learn some of the tricks that salesmen use. And you'll see how
bargaining works.
I'd give this 7 out of 10.
Extreme Ops (2002)
Extreme Oops!
This was a really bad movie. The writing, acting, and directing are all weak. The characters are cliched. The story is absurd. I regret seeing this movie. I am embarrassed for Bridgette Wilson. She has done so many terrible movies. When will she ever get a good role. They usually give her the role of the bitchy woman. The action sequences are not suspenseful. I rolled my eyes a lot during this movie. I hate movies where bad guys shoot 100,000 bullets at a slowly skiing hero, but do not hit the hero at all. I would recommend avoiding this film. I was really glad when this movie ended. 2 out of 10.
Hellboy (2004)
Deadpan Action Film
I did not enjoy Hellboy. I began fidgeting in my uncomfortable theater seat about 40 minutes into the movie. I wasn't gripped by the action sequences because Hellboy quips nonchalantly during them. I would call it "deadpan action" so to speak. The humor in the movie isn't my type of humor. It's very unsophisticated. Like Hellboy will get smashed into a wall, pick himself, and say, "Damn." There are a few funny parts, but not many. The story doesn't hold up under the slightest scrutiny. Who are these bad guys? What motivates them? Why are they committing these evils acts? I decided to stop thinking during the movie because otherwise I would have kept thinking to myself: "What is truly going on here?" I am sure that fans of the comic will enjoy this, but if you don't like special-effects-driven action movies with thin plots, I'd stay away from Hellboy.
