just saw it at a presentation
19 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
~POSSIBLE SPOILER~

I didn't get to watch the whole movie, but I was surprised when I saw the 8+ rating on IMDb. I remember seeing the Miracle Worker a long time ago in elementary school, and it was a very inspiring movie at that time. All about conquering your struggles and whatnot. Anyway, after seeing the same tune came up so many times, i couldn't stop thinking about it. I just loved it when that emotional score comes up when something sensational happens, i.e. they used it twice in the beginning scene when they saw her teacher, and then again in that water scene. Too bad I didn't get to see the rest of it. But makes me wonder how many other times did they use it.

My only complaint is that the water scene was very predictable. But then, they did needed some element to 'wake' Michelle up. The acting was really good, and that actually stood out more than the story itself. If only it had more originality :(

I wonder how some of the scenes would look like without that score... maybe less sensational? definitely something to try.

terrible, over hyped
10 May 2004
at first i thought it was bad because i had great expectations for this movie, but after giving some thought it IS that bad. i was almost caught up in hk's promotion of bad stars in bad movies. hk's new generation of actors and actresses not to mention bad script writers are bringing the industry down. at the moment im still trying to figure out how it gross so high. normally you cant lose in a movie with donnie yen and ekin (forget jackie, he's past his peak). but then i shouldve figure it out when twins was on the cover. it is cheesy, campy, very corny, i try to laugh from some of the jokes, but not only is the effect very minimal but the jokes are very recycled and not funny. im sorry i bought the movie. the only reason why some people think it is so good is because they are brainwashed into the hype that the twins are cute, and everybody likes them, and that everything they make is good and funny. and that if you like twins, then you are up to date...

sigh... i miss the good hk movie days when jet li and stephen chow movies dominated the box office...

movies from mainland china are much better than this, and they are shot for lower budgets.

great lesson

Warning: Spoilers
at first i didnt think much of this movie. i skimmed through it and was getting ready to delete it but decided to watch it once out of boredom. The first half of the movie was what i expected, boring japanese teenage schoolgirl's life accompanied by crazy camera anglges, very reminisce of a shoddy indi film... the characters that paid for the girls to accompany them were definitely colorful and i doubt real ppl like that in the same situation would do the same. Right till the point when i was bored out of my mind watching, in comes the last character, Captain EO... what happens afterwards totally changed my mind about this movie. Everything just comes together after that one big scene, and im like ****, why didnt i notice that before..

Black Rose II (1997)
great hkish comedy
11 June 2003
This film exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and brilliant slapstick comedy. Normally a hk comedy that I would enjoy as much as this is usually associated with Stephen Chow, but this goes up there. Very brilliantly done. With a cameo by Donniey Yen. The gags never stop. I definitely recommend it.

Boys Are Easy (1993)

memorable
9 June 2003
this is what made hk films memorable in the early 90's. I love this film when i first saw it, and once i watched it again it got even better. Pure slapstick comedy is included, and great acting by the actors/actresses. Stuff like the 'wink' that tony lau kar fai gave followed with a mesmerizing wing going pass bridgette lin, you dont see that stuff anymore.
