Westworld (2016)
Season 1 To 4 Review - From the Best Show to the Worst
A short summary of the Series:
Season 1: 10/10. Main Star: Jonathan Nolan, Anthony Hopkins & Evan Rachel Wood. One of the best season 1 I have ever watched.
Season 2: 8/10. Main Star: Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright & Thandiwe Newton. Good ideas but bad execution. Way too complicated and has bad character development. Maeve was so popular for some reason that the writers tried to make her one of the main character. This is still not a problem in season 2 but will destroy season 3 trying to make her relevant.
Season 3: 6/10. One-sided writing and poor world-building. Half-assed plot development with too many plot holes. Probably because Jonathan Nolan left for other stuff and just provided guidelines maybe (not confirmed though) or because it was 2020, deduce the rest. Writers did everything to make Dolores bad and then good again as a Westworld plot twist.
Season 4: 3/10. Rehash of old ideas and nothing makes sense anymore. Stupid fan service for characters and America is basically the entire world. Written by children, not even trying to be smart. Writing Policy: Whatever needs to happen will happen. Not one good thing I can say here.
Season 5: If it actually happens, then probably will beat Game of Thrones Final Season to become the worst show that was once considered one of the best show at a time.
My advice: Watch season 1 and then stop. Your imagination will come up with better stories than what the writers did here. If you really want to, then watch season 2. But definitely stop here please.
Westworld: Que Será, Será (2022)
Nothing interesting will be nothing interesting.
Season 1 was the absolute best. Season 2 was okay-ish because it at least added new ideas. From season 3, even I could not defend this show anymore. Season 4 though is the absolute worst. I just can not understand how things could have gotten so bad. Is Jonathan Nolan even overseeing this crap... I don't think so or I at least hope not because I can not take that disappointment.
Season 4 is a bad rehash of old ideas and if season 5 happens, it does not seem like it would be any different. I am tired and bored. From the dialogue to the plot, everything has gotten so bad.
This finale makes no sense. The characters make no sense. This world makes no sense. It is the absolute crap that the team from J. J. Abrams brings and destroys (Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.).
The Time Traveler's Wife (2022)
A Waste of Time and an Unnecessary Adaptation
First few things to note: I have not read the book but I loved the film adaption. Also, there might be mild spoilers for the movie and the book.
Is there any point to watching this: NO. Here is the reason why: Triple the movie length, half the story covered. Not even covered better or a better and truer adaption of the book based on my understanding. Maybe I am just comparing too much with the movie but I am mad because they ruined something I liked a lot.
The film is mainly from Henry's point of view whereas this show is from Claire's point of view and that's fine especially given the name of the show - The Time Traveler's Wife. The problem is by trying to explore the downside of marrying a time traveller, they just made her super moody and Henry super douchey. Also, the story is unnecessarily complicated with the timeline trying to be clever. The movie may be a bit sappy but it perfectly depicts how hard that life was for her even with limited time.
Now let's go over the story points and remember I have only seen the movie and haven't read the book.
1. There is this assault scene that adds nothing to the overall story. From what I understand, it was not in the movie but may have been in the book but completely meaningless in this adaptation.
2. Henry visits younger Claire way too many times (which I learned is also in the book) and young Henry is such a jerk all the time. They wanted to add some character development from the book but I think they made it worse.
3. My take on Claire based on the movie is this: she is a bit naive (having befriended a time traveller at an early age) and thus has protective friends and family, trying to protect her. But she is not dumb and knows what she wants. Here, her friends are also her lovers and that apparently goes on and off depending on the time (I thought the writers made this up but seems like it's in the book too).
There are so many other things or rules that I have an issue with starting from the makeup to the chemistry between the actors and so on. My point is that I am not sure if you will like this adaptation or not but when I saw the movie, I did not question what was I watching. Everything there made sense and worked for the overall story. Here, I am questioning everything and to top it off, it does not even have a proper ending. You will have to wait for season 2 to get that which is something writers do a lot these days, not sure why though. Anyways, I think the movie version might have eliminated characters and simplified the story but it worked. Here it doesn't in my opinion and why watch this pointless season when there already exists a good movie.
The Time Traveler's Wife: Episode #1.6 (2022)
Better Episode But Meaningless Finale
First few things to note: I have not read the book but I loved the film adaption and this is gonna be a rant. Also, there might be mild spoilers for the movie too.
As a standalone episode, does it get better? Yes, from episode 4 onward it does get better. Is there any point to watching this, NO. Here is the reason why: Triple the movie length, half the story covered. Not even covered better or a better and truer adaption of the book based on my understanding. It is unnecessarily complicated and the characters, I just don't feel anything for them especially with that awful cheap makeup. Maybe I am just comparing too much with the movie but I simply hate the entire cast and crew because they ruined a movie I liked a lot.
My biggest gripe: Why couldn't they do 10 episodes and finish the entire story?
Lucifer: Partners 'Til the End (2021)
Love And Hate Relationship
I fell in love after watching the first episode and then started to hate this show after 2 or 3 seasons. The previous episode should have been the real finale because the first half of this episode is really bad. But it gets there in the end though. This show ended how it started... a little bit of great, a bit more of bad, and a lot less supernatural than I expected.
Superman & Lois (2021)
Horrific Character Assassination... Stop Ruining Superman
There have been many different interpretations of Superman over the years and when this version was first introduced in Supergirl, I thought maybe finally we will get a good one given all the bad ones so far. Who knew that this version would turn out to be such a p***y version of Superman. Throughout the series, he does not make one single original decision by himself and has no real backbone. Every time something happens, go to this character for advice or help, and so on. In order to make the story work or secondary characters like Lois important, why does Superman have to be so pathetically weak? Bad parent, weak journalist, even weaker superhero.... and what does he do...NOTHING. Even if I accept all this, what does the show do with it - Nothing to overcome all these flaws. All he does is fly around, punch people and act like an idiot throughout the show so that other characters can feel important. Also, Lana show have known about the secret being his so-called best friend and spending their childhood together. Then there are the actors and the dialogue... the less I say about that the better. Lastly, why do Kryptonians keep trying to take over the Earth... Is that really the only plot these writers can come up with... Kryptonians being these advanced space hopping civilizations. They already used this plot armor so poorly in Smallville and Man of Steel.
Loki: For All Time. Always. (2021)
Pointless Episode For A Finale
Up until now, I would have considered this a good show. A pointless episode with no answers, made the entire season meaningless and the worst buildup for season 2. Only J. J. Abrams could beat such a boorish tease.
Gossip Girl: Just Another Girl on the MTA (2021)
Just when you think the original couldn't get any worse
The first time it was unlimited toxic friendship, redemption arcs for potential if not rapists among other things... Maybe there was some good things too.
I was wondering good luck trying to deal with those kind of arcs THIS time around and at some point or other, you need to play those arcs to give your updated views on them especially given THE time we live in now... Otherwise the writers are just a bunch of dashes.
Well, I think they did one better... Let's it teachers shame students and act like adults because clearly why not... How can this go wrong... Maybe the premise will change or maybe not but clearly they are off to a great start in the insensitivity spectrum.
When will writers know the difference between redemption arcs, anti-hero type characters and simply bad behaviour, questionable or not. Pretty sure this is going to be worse than the first time around and that's saying something. But for those who love Blair and Chuck, you will probably love it... Revel yourself in more bad behaviour.
For All Mankind: The Grey (2021)
This season killed this show
Out of all the Apple shows, I found this one most interesting and I had high hopes for this show. But this season completely destroyed that and this episode was the worst, butchering all the best characters. I knew things were bad when we were in the ninth episode and with so many open plot lines to deal with in the last episode. I thought this season will end in some kind of cliffhanger or something because there is no way they can wrap everything up in one episode. But turns out their ending was even more horrible than I could think off but at least on the bring side, no cliffhangers.
Spoilers ahead.... How do they resolve the whole issue of this season: oh because of a handshake how wonderful. Characters all of a sudden disobeying all types of orders and that's good, even though they don't have knowledge of the whole situation. The whole Ed situation reminded me of Star Wars The Last Jedi. Things in Russia are definitely bad no doubt about it but the whole Russia bad and America good all the time, wow real mature. And how do they pull on heartstrings of the audience, let's just kill two main character for no reason at all and focus on how sad that is. The job at two point certainly didn't require two people and definitely that was the smartest decision made between two parents. I felt like deep down the guy was saying if I can't have you no one can so let's agree and do exactly what ex-wife says. Let's not think about that, we are after all NASA astronauts, we never made difficult decisions in our life.
Let's hope the last good Apple show, Ted Lasso, does not do what this show did. I am out and extremely disappointed.
The Irregulars (2021)
Netfix keeps on making more Original garbage
This is definitely one of the worst shows I have ever watched... Avoid it like a plague. There really isn't anything else I want to say to justify my reaction.
The Defenders (2017)
Honestly A Bit Disappointed
I was hoping this show to be great. After the disappointing Iron Fist and, in my opinion, not so great Luke Cage and Jessica Jones (many might disagree with this); I was hoping this to be great. Daredevil is the only show I fully liked in this Netflix-Marvel TV Universe.
This plays more like Daredevil Season 2, great and fun at times and bad at others. As a whole its average, which isn't a surprise since I learned the show-runner for Daredevil Season 2 and this is the same. A lot of missed opportunity and even though it is 8 episodes instead of 13, it still feels slow. The music choices too were offbeat.
The main problem was lack of character interaction from secondary characters (especially when many of them were in the same place), anyone who hasn't seen any of the other shows will have to imagine a lot as the foundation between all the shows are weak (for example why is Luke Cage, someone who is considered a hero, coming out of prison and so on) and the main villains, The Hand, never feels dangerous like shown in previous outings on other shows. And Danny Rand who is still a idiot.
Person of Interest (2011)
Jonathan Nolan Co. Masterpiece.
When I first started this show, the drama and action with its comedy was great. Never did I thing I would call this the best TV show that I have seen after House M.D. But even House lost a little touch, like most TV shows do over many season. But not this one. It actually got better. Please find the time to watch this.
Each season was better than the one before and in my opinion, is simply, the best TV Series at this moment. Complex characters with unbelievable story telling. The least rated episode in the show is at 8.3 in IMDb from season 1 and the highest rated episode is at 10 from season 5; the last episode as it should be. Truly worthy. With the highest rated episode from each season being topped by the next season's highest rated episode. FACTS. Simply can't miss. And mind you, the whole Edward Snowden thing had not yet been exposed, at the inception of this show.
The whole theme of love and death and human connections from a machine through out the whole fifth season is fantastic with so many other grounded elements to it like classes (The outliers) of society and the drama orientated scenes from an action series. One of the best edited, serialized show with as less filler episodes as possible and tremendous music that will simply give you chills.
Masterpiece from Jonathan Nolan coming to an end but hopefully will continue in HBO's Westworld and other works that this guy makes. One of the best casts in TV and not just the actors but the directors and musicians and the casting directors and so on. There will come a time hopefully, like The Shawshank Redemption (1994), when people will wonder how this show got cancelled after basically 4 seasons. But probably for the best (maybe not....I believe in both the Nolan brothers to pull of miracles).....who knows.
Person of Interest: Return 0 (2016)
Masterpiece from Jonathan Nolan and his team of excellent writers.
Awesome Episode. Truly worthy of a rating of 10 by me and IMDb users.

Arrow: The Climb (2014)
Mid Season Finale Craziness
First of all, lets start with the slight and forgettable negatives... The editing of this episode for a lack of abusive word, is bad. I love Felicity but all her emotional scenes need work, it throws the whole thing off. Thea's fights scenes and Laurel's reasons for not to tell his dad about Sara's death but let everybody else know. Ra's Al Ghul fight scenes and stunt double editing, as I said before...very bad.
Some of you might be thinking that many things and slight negatives...well I mentioned it because I believe even a guy who does not like this episode can't come up with more than all these.
As for the rest, without ruining too much, are all damn on positives. Where do I start...use of more or less all characters, ATOM suit and Ray's plans, Malcolm's plan, character surprises, deaths or not, two shocking reveals, and what are TV series without cliffhangers. And what is an Arrow episode without the last 5 minutes of craziness.
If you ever thought, this show was boring and slow and so left, this is the episode you need to watch to see the change in dynamics.
Honourable mentions, 67 years from the last duel...caught my eye. This show has changed completely and this is the best episode of this series and hopefully only the start.....Just when I thought, The Flash was beating Arrow each episode quality wise...They have made a comeback, the kind that started this season on a rocking edge......"The Climb".
Godzilla (2014)
King of the Monsters...
Loved it. With a proper ending, smoother and cleaner big monster fight scenes, better background music and better job at editing the film; this movie would have been one of the top three summer blockbuster movies of 2014.
That being said, I have to say that I did not read the comic versions and watched Japanese Godzilla movies......so I hold no grudges about the story.
Had the potential to be a great movie in better hands or with more time. But it definitely gives the viewer enough thrill and excitement to see the monsters.
Must watch movies of 2014.
Critical Review (C.R.): B+. My Opinion: 8 out of 10.
