Freeze Frame (2004)
9/10
A great chilling and unique thriller!
4 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Plot: Sean Veil (Lee Evans) is a man who has been accused of killing a mother and 2 daughters 10 years ago. Since this he is mega paranoid by this which he ends up convincing that everyone's out to get him so he has been filming himself ever since and he keeps the tapes in a special vault for evidence. Now, just before the 10th anniversary of the murders, he is again arrested on suspicion of murder, and when he tries to produce the relevant tapes that end up going missing; which ends up starting a journey of finding answers and prove his innocence.

First of all, the film was great. It was a weird, original and intriguing story line. It was really dark and full of suspense as it made me on the edge of my seat cause I always wanted to watch what's gonna happen next cause it made me feel that I was in Sean's shoes.

Lee Evans gives a great performance for his character Sean. You may find him as a funky and active comedian which everyone loves but after watching this, you find a different side to him which shows he's good acting as you become more engaged with his character too as well as feeling sorry for him.

The camera shots used for the film gave a eerie image and uses less colour to make it realistic. The tricks also show the true paranoia that Sean suffers throughout.

The conclusion is also weird but I thought it was a good as it gave a great end towards Sean's journey to find innocence and answers.

It's well worth seeing! One side, if you get scared easily, bring someone with you. :D (That happened to me in the end)

Overall: A great chilling and crafted thriller! Verdict: 9.5/10 :)

Arthur (I) (2011)

Arthur Rocks!
2 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
OK, I am going to start that I have never seen the original so i know what people are saying that the original is better but I can't really give an opinion on the original.

I have always been a Russell Brand fan and now since he has gone from stand up comedy to acting, he's doing really well in the film industry. Russell Brand seems to be getting better at his roles such as from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Greek and Hop.

The film is full of comedy as Russell Brand is a natural comedian. And the film does very well from start to finish.

Also, Helen Mirren and Russell Brand share that incredible chemistry together on screen. That probably gave the reason enough why someone ought to sit through this remake.

Overall, Arthur is a fun remake (even though I has seen the original) which I enjoyed. The film is funny, moving & full of fun. This film is an like it or not like film but give the film a chance and see what you thought.

Verdict: 8/10

Insidious (I) (2010)
9/10
Gripping, Intense & Scary
1 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! Insidious is as the title says .. gripping, intense and scary.

The plot is about a couple Renai and Josh Lambert (played by Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson) who moves into a new house with their 3 children. Two sons and a baby daughter. Having moved into a new home, they seem to have a perfect sense of belonging. However, one night, the eldest child, Dalton, bumps his head after falling off the ladder in the loft and is soon in a coma. Three months later after the accident, creepy stuff and paranormal events begin to happen. As ghosts can be seen and break-ins happen. They ended up moving into Josh's mother's place, but the events still happen in that house. Soon, they find out that the house is not haunted, it is actually their son Dalton.

This is the scariest film that I have seen since the 1st Paranormal Activity film.

This film grips you from beginning to end as the scenes and the soundtrack set the mood and the atmosphere of the film which is terrifying and negative.

The film is also creepy and throughout the film the suspense builds up as you don't know what is going to happen next.

And I was the only in the theatre who did a couple of screams.

Overall, the film succeeded in bringing the audience something scary, suspenseful, funny, emotional, and frightening all in one film which i have never seen with them combined.

Verdict: 9/10

Hop (2011)
7/10
Hoptastic!
3 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Let's describe Hop ... Fun, Entertaining & Suitable for all of the family.

The story is about a bunny named E.B. who is supposed to become the next easter bunny. Growing up, he loved the idea but then fell in love with playing the drums. After running away, he runs into Fred O'hair who is failing at finding a decent job that he wants to do. The two meet each other and E. B. ends up bunking with Fred. The adventure continues when E. B. meets David Hasselhoff, Freds sister, and escapes from the pink baraat.

As soon as I heard of this film, Hop was on my list on 'What I Want To See' because I like rabbits, Russell Brand & James Marsden.

The film was perfectly animated like the film Rango. And I really loved the bunnies & chicks too.

I also thought that Russell Brand did really well playing the voice of E.B. There was none of the raunchiness which is usually associated with him like from Get Him To The Greek. Also, his distinctive laid-back charm is still intact and fits his character perfectly.

The only problem that I had with this film is that I thought that some scenes in the film that was more Christmas than Easter. I found it weird that there was a sleigh being used when really the film is supposed to an EASTER theme not Christmas.

Apart from that, Hop is a fun family film, and I would definitely recommend this a lot!

Hop gets a 7/10 from me.

Not as good as the first one, but it was a good film.
21 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
As soon as I saw the poster at my local cinema, I instantly thought 'I really want to see this'. And I never thought that they would do a 2nd one. And I liked the first film as well.

The plot takes place 62 days before Micah Sloat died. A new family is the focus, and the mother, Kristy, is Katie's sister. They seem to be happy, as they have a daughter Ali and a adorable baby boy Hunter who comes home from the hospital at the start. The family has been experiencing a series of what could be so called break-ins. Then, after noticing the break ins, the family resorts to hiring a surveillance team to install a series of cameras around the house, in case any suspicious activity happens. Then what happens during the night is not want they were going to expect.

At first, I didn't get the beginning because I thought it was going to be in the same house like from the first one. But I was wrong. Then what shocked me was when Katie came through the door. Everyone in the theatre including were full of shock and they will proper confused and they thought that Katie came back to her normal self. Then when Micah came into the scene and said that the film took place '62 days before Micah died' I then understood the plot.

Some of the scenes were really intense as when the room goes quiet, you feel then that something is going to happen. My heart started to beat fast which is a bit weird for me.

The scene that really did make me jump was the kitchen scene where all of the drawers open all by themselves. That proves that not everything happens in the dark.

I was worried that this film was going to be a daft film as I didn't know how they would continue after the first film's climax.

Some of the people in the theatre were laughing at some scenes such as the scene where Kirsty gets dragged my her foot down the stairs. Honestly, I thought that were scary.

The problem is .. Will you like it? .. It depends.

Overall, Paranormal Activity 2 is full of scares and fully intense. It certainly had me on the edge of my seat.

Paranormal Activity 2 gets a 7/10 from me.

Adventureland (2009)
8/10
Misleading trailer but a cool film to watch.
14 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I am going to describe Adventureland as one of the best coolest comedies that I have seen for a while.

The plot is about a guy called James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg) who is a recent college graduate, who plans to spend summer touring Europe. His father is demoted, so James starts working at a local amusement park called Adventureland. When he starts working, he meets tomboy Em (Kirsten Stewart) and his roller-coaster ride when at Adventureland becomes the best ever summer.

Firstly, this film is bubbly and full of fun. It is also a enjoyable teen flick and I enjoyed it as I am a teen as well.

The characters do well in the film, Jesse Eisenberg playing James is great and he was good in Zombieland before this film. Kirsten Stewart who is known as Bella from The Twilight Saga films and I thought that she wasn't going to be good at different roles. But after watching her in the film, I underestimated her and I think she is a good actress.

Ryan Reynolds who played Connell also did a great job playing the type of character who is dark as a married man but portraying as a big love cheat as well. Also, we don't see him as one of the central characters which is OK as the film concentrates on Jesse's and Kirsten's characters.

The only problem that I saw was that I thought the trailer to the film was poor. It didn't saw the main storyline and it didn't show the plot very well.

As I say, don't judge a film by its trailer. Go and see the film before you make judgements.

Overall, Adventureland provides an original storyline, a exploration of young love, brilliant and provides plenty of laughs.

I'm giving Adventureland an 8/10.

Rango (2011)
7/10
Rango is a cute lizard that is lovable and entertaining.
14 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The plot is about Rango (voiced by Johnny Depp) who is a chameleon that after a mishap inside his tank comes across a town full of desperation and hopelessness. With a little bit of luck and a lot of lying, Rango becomes sheriff of a tiny town called Dirt but the town runs into a lot of trouble when the water supply hits low.

I thought this film was funny and unique as I have never seen an animation that is about a lizard. I love lizards.

One strength of this film is the good voice acting, especially Johnny Depp as he is great in his roles and his voice as Rango is great.

Another strength of this film is the animation itself. The scenery is great and the quality of the characters are brilliant and magnificent

The only problem that I had from the film is that I think they were more adult jokes instead of children's jokes as me and my friend were laughing at the adult jokes more than the childish ones.

I also believe that this type of film is ideal for older children to watch but I believe that it is not particularly ideal for younger children because of the adult jokes.

Apart from that, this is a good film that had me entertained from start to finish and it provides a exciting western adventure for everyone.

Rango is going to get a 7/10 from me.

The Proposal (I) (2009)

Sandra Bullock & Ryan Reynolds = Comedy Gold
13 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Let's think on about I would describe The Proposal in 4 words .. awesome, sweet, fun and hilarious.

It is predictable what the film was going to be about but when I watched it on DVD the other week, I thought it was fun, entertaining & didn't disappoint.

The ending was predictable and I knew what was going to happen at the end when Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) returns to America to say to Magaret (Sandra Bullock) that he loves her after a bumpy ride from doing a fake proposal for Margaret to stay in the America.

Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds have great chemistry between them. They are a great and funny pair on the screen.

I was completely laughing throughout the film as well.

And also, I finally got to see Ryan Reynolds naked!! =D LOL.

The movie is described as one that will amuse audiences of every age and become a movie must-have for future generations.

The Proposal gets a 8/10 from me.

Brilliantly Funny.
11 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall just before Get Him To The Greek came out of the cinema. I loved Forgetting Sarah Marshall and I thought instantly .. I REALLY want to see the squeal as it looked good.

The plot is about a guy called Aaron Green (Jonah Hill)who works in a record company which is stuck in a recession. Aaron's boss gives him a career making task - to bring English rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand)from London to L.A. for a concert in 72 hours. Then, it becomes a roller-coaster ride from London to Los Angeles.

First of all, I am a massive fan of Russell Brand and I thought he was great playing Aldous. But I do think that this film is not a reactment but shows his story about Russell's past. You will get me on this if you live in the UK.

Jonah Hill also did a good performance playing Aaron.

They were scenes that we LOL funny. Especially the scene where Aaron has an heart attack and Aldous tells him to 'stroke the furry wall', oh god that did made me giggle.

This film is better than Forgetting Sarah Marshall as Get Him To The Greek is mainly directed at Aldous at what happens to him as well as Aaron.

Get Him To The Greek will not disappoint if you like outrageous comedies.

Get Him To The Greek gets a 7/10 from me. :)

Black Swan (2010)
9/10
Simply Unmissable.
10 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
How would I describe this film ... Brilliant, Fantastic & Beautiful.

The plot is about a girl called Nina Sayers (played by Natalie Portman) has toiled for years within a New York ballet company, always pushing herself to be perfect. The company has fallen under hard times, and director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) makes the swift decision to put on a new rendition of the classic Swan Lake. With the company's go-to lead pushed into retirement, Nina is quickly selected to be the lead in the new ballet. With competition arriving in the form of new dancer Lily (Mila Kunis), and the demanding desire for perfection from both Thomas and her overbearing mother Erica (Barbara Hershey), Nina begins a journey into dark uncharted territory.

I thought this film was beautifully set out and I thought this film is totally original as the storyline is unique and something I have never read about.

Natalie who plays Nina gives a brilliant performance. She brilliantly played the character very well as she suffers the hallucations and bad things happen to her. As well as trying too hard to be perfect and you can feel that she was under the pressure by the director, Thomas (played by Vincent Cassel) and her mother Erica (played by Barbara Hershey). As well as being paranoid of Lily as she doesn't want her to take her role as Nina portrays the white swan whereas Lily portrays the black swan.

I would also describe Black Swan as seduction as the films portrays sexual tension as well.

I would congratulate Natalie Portman to get 'Best Actress' at the Oscars and the BAFTA's. I also thought that Black swan should have got more awards other than Best Actress.

Black Swan is the film that had me kept my eyes glued to the screen and I enjoyed it.

Black Swan gets a 9/10 from me. :)

127 Hours (2010)
10/10
127 Hours is amazing. It should have won a Oscar!
9 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I heard about this film from the internet as I read the reviews from people in America and I found out that it was shown at the London Film Festival last year.

I've seen this film twice and I really loved it both times.

I never heard about this story before I heard about the film which a first for me. The plot is basically a guy called Aron Ralston who goes hiking in Utah and while hiking he falls when trying to decent into Blue John Canyon and his right hand gets trapped by a boulder which follows him when falling.

This film had me on the edge of my seat as it was very gripping. I thought this film was powerful and extraordinary. I didn't watch the scene where he cuts off his hand the first time round because i don't like blood; The second time round, I was perfectly fine. I am a bit of a screamer type of person.

James Franco gives a great performance as Aron as he is a really good actor and I think he is extremely good-looking. I also think that Danny Boyle was great directing the film as he kept the scenes of him stuck with the boulder going by adding the hallucinations and flashbacks that he suffers. His flashbacks that shows his past definitely show that he regrets what he has done in the past. Some of them flashbacks made me feel a bit emotional and they have made me think that I should appreciate what I have got in life. I also loved the music that was used in the film. I also loved his facial expressions in some scenes. He just made me giggle. I am totally in love with him now.

I think Danny Boyle and James Franco should have won at award/Oscar this year for their performances within the film as 'Best Actor' & 'Best Director'.

I were deeply shocked that film didn't get any awards.

I actually bursted out in tears at the second time round of happiness and joy as he gets out of the canyon and gets rescued.

The moral of this film is that you should always tell someone where you are going.

That is why I am giving 127 Hours a 10 out of 10.

Paranormal Activity is the new Blair Witch Project.
29 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I am a person who believes in the paranormal and when i saw it, it was incredibly good and terrifying.

I thought this film was original and had a great storyline as the plot is about a couple called Katie and Micah who think they are haunted by a ghost/demon in their house so they film it with a video camera to film the evidence of the demon's presence and the couple's reactions towards the presence.

Out of some horror films (like the Saw films) i have watched in the past don't normally frighten me or affect me in any way. Paranormal Activity is the film that has given me a fright of my life and affected me in some ways. And it was the first ever horror film that i actually screamed at in sheer terror. It was full of suspense and it made me curious to find out what was going to happen next.

Katie and Micah gave a extraordinary performance as they make it look so realistic that you will experience what they are going through and you will feel the exact emotions that they are going through as well. Also, it is impossible to escape the film's sheer & visceral sense of dread.

The night scenes were good. Examples include: Night 13 is proper freaky when the demon writes on the Ouija board and it sets on fire. I thought that Night 20 was really scary and i thought that was the scariest scene of the entire film. I could feel the emotion and terror when Katie was dragged out of the room and what happened when Micah left the room till they came back in.

I was also holding my friend's hand while watching it and i was proper shaking when i came out of the theatre which was a first for me.

Also, I couldn't sleep with the lights off as i was really scared and i think everyone will say the same thing.

If anyone is planning to watch this film on DVD or anywhere else, you will have to prepare yourself and steady your nerves as you will feel the terror for yourself.

Due Date (2010)
9/10
Hilarious from start to finish.
13 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
When i heard about this, i fancied seeing it as it looked good.

It has a great storyline and it was deeply entertaining.

I don't really like Robert Downey Jr but i thought he was very good in Due Date. I also like Zach Galifanakis as i thought he was completely hilarious in The Hangover.

It is one of the funniest film i have seen this year. As well as Get Him To The Greek.

There were loads of scenes that proper cracked me up. I really loved the dog and the bit where he was masturbating which i nearly wet myself. I also loved the story about the dad's ashes and i loved it when Darryl (played by Jamie Foxx) and Peter (played by Robert Downey Jr) drunk Ethan's dad's ashes.

I also loved the police chase scene as well.

I am not really a massive road trip film type of person, but seeing Due Date made me love them type of films now.

I highly recommend this film.

one word: disappointed
13 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this film was going to be good as i liked the first and second films. But to be honest, after seeing it, i was really disappointed.

And i didn't think that it was really good in 3D. It made it worse I think. 2D would have been better for me as 3D films give me a headache afterwards.

I thought that their were too much sword fighting.

I also didn't get the plot which made me really bored. But there were a bit that i liked as i loved the guy who played the cousin. He was funny.

Sorry Narnia fans, i thought this film was poor.

Unstoppable (2010)

what a good film this is.
13 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed Unstoppable.

When the trailers and adverts came out advertising Unstoppable, i wasn't sure about it. Then it started to catch my eye so i decided to go and see it and see what i thought about it. I also heard that it had good reviews.

When i was watching it, i was glued to the screen and i was on the edge of my seat as i didn't know whenever the train was going to stop or not. It is also very gripping.

I thought that the main actors Denzel Washington and Chris Pine were very good in the film.

I really recommend this film to anyone as i enjoyed it.
