Le Cinquième Élément (1997)
A VERY probable Action of the future tickling imagination !
This film transforms me to the future. Everything looks like I have imagined. And at the same time gives me new inklings that I haven't expected. Befoe I use to say that the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was the first film to incorporate all the actions I have ever seen. Later the film 'Long Kiss Goodnight'overtook this role (together with Geena Davis other films like 'Cutthroat Island'). Movies that have made a great memory in my life. But they are all in the past. This one clearly tells me what to expect in the future - if I ever will live that long ;-) I don't know WHY I "svallow" this film and even the small inconsistencies (?) "Hook, Line and Zinker", But I do. I feel like everything is normal, but still it surprices me with things I did not expect. Its a controvercy that I love. It contains all the elements from the above films and more ! I am deeply respectfull of the moviewriter and the performance of the actors. They include most genres like action, suspense, romance and thrilling. Of course it doesn't dig too deep into filosophy, but thats not the film you want to see when you want something new to entertain you when you don't know exactly what you want to see. I recommend this movie to EVERYBODY ! It will really rattle your imagination. The "art of killing" is so artful that many of them keeps me in laughter many times. Don't take it too seriously :-)
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
WHY place Woodo, Witchery and Black Magic to children ?
First, its an impressive film. I understand why 'critic's 'raise it to the sky. For being av animated film, it packs a great emotional punch for good and bad. Good because it covers so many black emotions - mostly of superstition ! Its NOT a "Saga" ! The colors are fantastic and it captures the emotions of New Orleans and the Cajun-swamp. The music is great too and is complemented by the artistry and the movie. BUT, the bad part is that its easy to think its a children saga, because of the animations. Its not a 'Fritz the cat', but to me its WORSE ! Because the emotions that flow from this film (totally) is very strong ! It tells the children of all the negative attitudes of grown ups. Why should we impose this on so young children ? Time enough they will find out for themselves that its a "Djungel outside", and during that (slow) learning they also will find GOOD examples on the opposite side (so to speak). But if you want to give them a "Crash Course" on how to scare others, then this would seem to either give them a manipulative strike or awaken the opposite. Summary; For grownups it should be a time trip to your childhood. For older children a diversified alternative and for the young ones, a frightening experience that they probably will remember the rest of their life's. On the other hand, there is so much NEW violence that enters their life each day, so maybe this is only a short stop on that way - unfortunately.
Mary Portas: Secret Shopper (2011)
The Consumers 'Jean de Arch' !
Mary Portas first came in to my life when she picked "regular" Swedish women of the street and transformed them into what complemented them instead of the clothes only hiding their bodies. She is doing the same to British business in this series of 4 shows. I don't understand why this hasn't been done before, because the company's that agrees to let her "transform them", really makes a much better business through her help. I love it because she really "bawls out the bosses " and tells them how she and primarily also the customers feels. You would think that what she presents, is logic and reason, but why didn't these company's think of this themselves ? Her programs show this in a hilarious way. It makes me happy to watch än the 2 words that come to my mind, is Fantastic and Finally ! OK, she's not perfect, but "even the sun has spots". It combines fun and knowledge together with a empathic sense, that makes me want to recommend it to every one that wants to regain consumer power, and are completely "fed-up" with "overselling and exaggerating to make a fast buck !
Cutthroat Island (1995)
One of the best "modern Pirates" with both humor and action.
Geena Davis is truly believable in this film. She makes me feel that this is almost a 'documentary'- even though I know, many things are "makebelive". Artistic freedom its called ;-) But I WANT to believe ! And the humor - even in the action scenes makes me believe. I does seem plausible :) Maybe you have to like her to like the film, I don't know. But after seeing her in the movie 'Long kiss goodnight', I don't understand that these films don't get a 10' from people. Maybe its because shes a female "hero" ? Shes occupying the "male scenario", and this never makes people "feel at home". But that its the charm of it. None of the people I recommended the film to, were disappointed. In my eyes its a GOOD film for anybody above 10 years. Both with laughter and suspense. An old pirate version of "Raiders of the Lost Ark". I still feel the same of the film even after seeing it more than 10 times.
Switch (1991)
A perfect (funny) film about switching sex.
I've read many previews of this film, and of course you can dive deep down and demand it to focus on all the different problems, but then You have picked the wrong film. There's is VERY few movies in this genre, and this one gives you MANY LAUGHS ! Sure they are a bit simple, but the movie give You a good time and plants some seeds about the gender problems. Whether you are sober or a bit "pixilated", it will raise your mood :) It's strength lies in its easy to recognize human behavior and to see this in the opposite sex, is great ! The basic message is that everyone needs to be seen and be loved, and how we go about this, often in a very "stereotype" way. Also how we can change and become more altruistic/unselfish. The movie starts out with brazen humor and ends up with me in tears as I recognize feelings that i have in me, but are too "good" in covering up. Bottom line = Both men and women should enjoy this equally well.
