Fantastic Four (2005)
A pretty good film
As a reader of the comics, I was really excited to finally see a movie about my favourite characters. I've learned that a FF film was in "development hell" for some decades, so when it finally came out, obviously I rushed to the theater. And, I was not disappointed at all. Of course it's not as good as X-Men 2 or Spider-Man (the original, with Tobey Maguire), but it's good for what it aims to be: a sci-fi/action movie about comic book characters. You have to understand that the Fantastic Four are not as popular as other heroes, like Iron Man i.e., besides, their stories always covered the most strange, bizarre, far out things imaginable. And, because they are a family, there are many corny moments in the movie, but the comics too have those moments, then you just have to "let it go", to really enjoy the story. Overall, it's a very decent movie about very decent people. Relax, and enjoy the ride!
Let It Be (1970)
Say what you will...
I saw this movie for the first time only a few days ago. Being a Beatles fan, I was always curious but hadn't the opportunity to see this. Well, it isn't the best movie ever, nor the best musical, best documentary etc.. It's a Beatles movie, and a very good one. Sure they argue, there are times when they seem to just "do nothing" and let the hours pass, but still, when they play... It's almost as if the world stopped, all troubles were forgotten, just for the sheer magic of their music. And sometimes we can see them having fun, and it's all worthwhile. After all, a very good movie for music fans. Say what you will, they are THE BEATLES!
The Song Remains the Same (1976)
Great Zep - don't deserve this
Being a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, I'd like so much to think this movie is great, or good, or average, or... But no. This movie is one of the most boring I've ever seen, unfortunately. While on stage (and on record, of course) Zep is THE band, this movie falls flat in capturing their energy and glorious brilliance. This could be a terrific movie, but is so badly done! I like some of the performances ("Rock And Roll" being my favorite) and Page's fantasy sequence, just great, but the rest of the movie SUCKS! Zep deserved a better movie... so we got "How The West Was Won". Praise God! If you want a truly great rock movie, go and see "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones. THE BEST ROCK MOVIE EVER!
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
A very good movie
For so many years I've seen people everywhere think this movie is bad, a waste of money etc., so I rented it, and now I can say I mostly disagree! This movie is a very good one, not only a good Bond movie, but a good action movie. Sometimes it seems to be a comedy (Bond recalling his "girlfriends" - just ridiculous, or having his legs written with lipstick - not to mention the "it never happened to the other fella" thing), but those I can forgive. For me Lazenby was the most "Bond-looking" actor ever to take the role, he just looks perfect as James Bond in every frame. The opening credits are among the best in the series. Overall, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is a very entertaining film, and Lazenby did a great job. Too bad he did only one.
