Scream (I) (2022)

Awful boring rehash
19 February 2022
Don't get why this film has so many high reviews. It's predictable, badly acted, badly written and tries to get by solely on references to the earlier movies. Another pointless sequel.

Hilarious comedy, don't listen to negative critics.

Feel I need to add balance to the amount of bad reviews on here. This is a brilliant comedy, Will Ferrell and John Heder give fantastic performances as disgraced ice skaters who need to work together. No idea what some people were expecting when they sat down to watch this, it's a slapstick comedy and it doesn't even try or pretend to be anything else.

Dull and far too long.
12 May 2020
This is a Kickstarter funded film and no doubt the high ratings are from the backers. The film is badly written, badly acted and far too long. The plot is nothing new and has been done many times before: people get trapped in an underground bunker with a supernatural force. I didn't the entire film just waiting for the annoying characters to die.

Average in every way.
10 April 2020
This is a distinctly average sequel which doesn't have the character, humour or catchy songs from the original. My 6yo loves the first but didn't even watch this one to the end. Generic, heavy-handed plot of celebrating our differences and music bringing everyone together.

A decent sci-fi/horror hybrid.
1 April 2020
This is a good sci-fi/horror hybrid, it's not outstanding in any way but certainly doesn't deserve the 1 star reviews people have been leaving. The premise has been done before, couple are trapped in a labyrinth of identical houses with each escape attempt returning them 'home', only this time they are given a child and promised release if they raise it. It's an interesting situation watching how they manage their predicament and cope with a strange child they don't want or can relate to. The film has an insidious feeling of hopelessness and isolation which affects the characters behaviour in different ways. There's no plot other than them trying to make sense of their situation. As a parent I sympathised with the main characters on several occasions as they are pushed to their limits between wanting to appease/kill a screaming child.

A worthy sequel.
11 January 2020
It's a sequel and as expected it's not as good as the first but Disney have created an outstanding film. Don't listen to the cynical reviews, the plot is no worse than the plot of the original and the movie features beautiful visuals and music with the same likeable characters.

Need to balance out the negative reviews.
7 July 2019
This film does not deserve all the negativity. The main complaints are the ending and the fact nothing is explained. I thought the ending was a clever resolution and was thankful nothing was explained. A film can easily be ruined with an unsatisfactory explanation ("Us" being a great example) and this film definitely benefits from not trying to explain itself. I would also say it's difficult to categorise, which is why many horror fans are probably upset, because it has many elements taken from several genres. If you're looking for a Friend Request or Unfriended type horror you will be disappointed.

An embarrassing mess of a film.
4 June 2019
Terrible acting, awful dialogue, bad casting and historical inaccuracies (techno music in a 70s club??) make this one of the worst films I've seen. One of the few films I didn't watch through to the end. Could not take Bundy seriously because he looked like Sheldon Cooper.

Good film but not for everyone.
31 May 2019
Hard to categorise this film but it's not a horror even though it has disturbing elements, definitely a mixed genre. The less you know about this film the better and I'm reluctant to say anymore because I don't want to spoil it. I thought it was well written and competently acted but you can see from the harsh negative reviews it isn't to everyone's taste. Don't watch it if you're squeamish.

Boring revenge movie.
5 December 2018
The implausible plot, undeveloped characters and silly script just couldn't suspend my disbelief to enjoy this. If you want a no-brains action movie then you won't be disappointed.

A silly puerile comedy.

No idea what people were hoping for who left 1 star reviews but this is exactly what I expected- a funny, foul-mouthed, immature and very entertaining comedy
