not an action film per say but a funny action movie
23 January 2011
Surprising, i thought Seth Rogan as Green Hornet would be a disaster and especially when this was the movie which put Buce Lee in the Hollywood limelight. Instead of taking the film serious and more of comic book hero (style) it was as i found it more funny and hilarious and had me in stitch's with some of the joke.

The car chases were average but some of the fight sequence were brilliant especially in 3D, script was wanting with a few loose ends, i didn't get the fight between Kato and Britt Reid over Diaz, felt like more of a filler between the scenes and it seemed a bit gory film for a 12A.

Apart from these small issues if you come to accept that this was not going to be a like for like remake of the original Kato & Green Hornet of the 60'S, you will find it funny intriguing and with a sting. the Star of the film has to be Jay Chou (Kato).

fantastic film: Compelling and full of suspense 9/10

Warning: Spoilers
What a well crafted film Paul Haggis is a great screenwriter who never lets you guess whats in store next; while your gripped to every word and action. While many people might this it is just another prison break movie believe you me that is not the case.

This film is example of what one will do or how far they will go for love and it is this emotion that R.Crowe and E.Banks bring to the fore. Just like 'Law Abiding Citizen' it shows how the justice system can corrode innocent lives but the film does justice to its original 'anything for her'.

Acting wise it was a good performance from all good, nice to see Crowe making a film in the present era unlike hes recent movies Robin Hood, Master and Commander etc, Elizbeth Banks as a mother and wrongfully convicted wife was amazing. Olivia Wilde and Liam Neeson also play strong parts. But an actor to watch out for is Lennie James (as Lieutenant Nabulsi) who plays the hardball Lieutenant out to get the family while they make their getaway from the police.

A mistake from Lionsgate was to release this film the same week as Harry Potter 7. i don't want to give too much away as its integral to the movie all I'm saying is that its A MUST WATCH FOR ALL 9/10

Tron: Legacy (2010)
7/10
great maybe the Legacy will continue

Warning: Spoilers
Having watched Tron when i was little i decided to watch the original first before watching this movie (although that is not necessary). The Film starts (with a flashback) a few years after Flynn have a son and is about to make 'Perfection'.

To be honest i thought the script was not going to be any good and i dismissed how the storyline would act out and even if the 3D version would be much different than 2D one. Boy was i wrong on all three points i think i enjoyed the film more when i went with these apprehensions.

The acting was awesome especially by the Flynn's, Quorra and although Gem had a small scene it was impressive. No matter how advance CGI becomes it was difficult to relate with Clu the static eyes made it all to artificial. Visually it was outstanding like the light cycle race worth watching in 3D. This one of those movies that if you talk about specifics it will spoil the whole film.

Finally i would give it an 8 out of 10 a must watch in the holidays.

Megamind (2010)

Funny enough to keep you watching for more
23 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This film was very funny and i feel the cast was chosen very well there was a lot of character development which added depth to the growing relationship of Megamind and Roxanne(Fay.

although it felt it fit the typical genre of super hero comic book films and a lot of people will find it to be not like despicable me that does nothing to reduce in the quality of the script. The comedy was good with all the parent laughing to the jokes, like the reference to the God-father etc.

I think overall the film will be able to reach out to kids and parents alike the twists will keep you seated till the end. The moral of the story Destiny is the path you chose not what is chosen for you, 7.5/10 a good family film

Good film but still left you wanting more
15 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The storyline was good and although it was not engaging and complete compared to the last film RE:Extinction.

The film contains cool fight scenes with slow mo thrown in often, what make the film is Milla Jovovich's acting and stunt skills. Ali Later as Claire is decent her but character is not developed, and importantly I think Wentworth Miller was not used properly to portray Chris other than make indirect reference to his character in prison break.

I found myself asking when Milla is in the plane she get injected with a antidote for the T-Virus by Albert Wesker she thanks him for making her Human, now does she have her Super-Human strength or not that is never answered in the letter part of the movie.

Overall good film better in 3D yet at the end makes you question: IS THAT IT?
