Horrid (2009)
Entertaining flick if you can sit past the faults
I have seen a lot of horror movies and more specific, zombie movies. I have seen some really great ones and some terribly awful ones, in both cases high and low budgets. I found this movie to be entertaining, I'm gonna give credit to the director because it kept me watching it despite its many many flaws. The acting is absolutely terrible along with the makeup/special effects. However, if you can get past that, it's not that bad of a movie and it kept me watching it. I don't regret watching it and I didn't mind dedicating an hour and a half to it. Some of the acting is so bad that its just fun to watch. Would i recommend it to my friends? depends on if they are movie snobs or not. Would I say that this movie is good? No, not at all, the story was awful, the acting was terrible, the effects/makeup could have been done much better, however I still watched it through and enjoyed it. I have turned off many movies before because they were terrible but this one wasn't boring it was just really low budget. I would have given it a 4 if the acting and makeup were better.
Stake Land (2010)
Cool idea but a failed delivery
When I saw the ratings here I figured I was going to be in for an exciting post-apocalyptic adventure with the undead. Unfortunately what's actually there is a movie that fails to deliver any sort of punch. The beginning starts action packed, which got my hopes up, however that was quickly diminished. Instead I was left with a few, quick scenes of montages to try to make the adventure seem plausible and honestly when I saw them I couldn't help but think of, the montage and the song that went along with it in, the movie Team America, it made me chuckle, because it jokingly sums up the events.
That brings me to problem two, I just didn't care about any of the characters, they all seemed like "meh" to me, no emotional feeling whatsoever, which is highly unusual to me for these types of post apocalyptic adventure movies. I didn't care if they lived or died, if they were good or evil, or if god had screwed them over or helped them, I just didn't care at all. It could have been the lack of character development and cheesy montage I don't know, but either way the characters failed. Now that's not saying that the acting was bad, the acting was quite good I just did not care about any of the characters or their story (or lack of in the case of this movie).
i did like the the fact that the vampires resemble zombies with fangs more than vampires, i like zombies better, but that's not enough to make this a movie worth watching again. I have just seen black death and must say that that is an EPIC movie compare to this drizzle.
I read a review of this movie that talks about the movie "the shrine" and how awful it was. I will disagree with that and say that I found the shrine quite interesting and easy to watch when I compare it to the pain that I had when I had to sit through this movie.
This movie fails on all accounts (even on the monsters, choose one is it a zombie or is it a vampire, don't make it a hybrid, they are not alive they can't breed!). Three words "IT'S BORING AS". I'm giving it three stars cause the acting was good, even tho the story was boring, I liked the scenery and I like zombies better than vampires.
The Box (2009)
this idea is unoriginal
First of all. The outer limits did this EXACT idea and it was only a half hour long. How people forget such an amazing series, anyways, my second thought is simple Cameron Diaz is cute but being cute isn't going to save a movie that is way tooooooooooo long and is also an unoriginal idea, it was meant for a thirty minute outer limits episode and should have remained as that. I have tried to watch it several time i manage to make about 25 to 35 mins thru, just long enough for Arthur to get a letter saying hes not gonna be an astronaut, but guess what, I don't care, For one they are whining about being poor and living paycheck to paycheck. Now if I am correct its based in the 60's or 70's and I believe back then NASA scientists managed to live more than paycheck to paycheck, and quite honestly i don't think they would need to depend on a button to make a million dollars. Anyways back to the review after I fall asleep at around the same point, each time I try to watch it, I wake up shortly before a bang, however each time it takes about 45 mins for me to dreadfully watch it meanwhile the outer limits did it in 30 minutes, When ever i think of the outer limits that episode comes to mind, however what this movie lacked was any sensible creativity, wait thats not true Mr. stewards face is cool, but the movie lacks anything noteworthy, i mean seriously Cameron diaz is wicked in comedies not bizarre crappy rip offs of a decent book and wicked television episode. If you are ready for something that sucks then watch this, otherwise read the story or watch the shortened version on outer limits, the show has better music too.
