Extraction (2020)
If violent action movies are your choice, then you're in for a treat.
You might want to skip this review if you don't like action movies with little plot. But if you're an action movie fan having a knack for violence and gore, you don't want to miss this one.
With little to no plot, the movie starts off with a quick introduction of the characters and dives into non-stop action with single-shot car chases, hand-to-hand combats, knives, guns and explosions. Chris Hemsworth plays a likable character, a tough ex-army and a mercenary on the outside and a depressive, suicidal alcoholic waiting to get off of his misery. The kid on the other hand is decent and sympathetic, they gelled together. Another interesting character to look out for is Saju played by Randeep, he is calm and poise in the beginning and would go to extremes to save his family. You feel for him and at times it's difficult to take sides between characters
The impressive part of the movie is the location and imagery with dusty brown pallet backed with intense action sequences and the cultural diversity. Beautiful colors, ruthless drug mafia, Hindi rap songs and Dhaka families watching Bollywood movies amidst chaos.
I think people shouldn't get so bent out of shape regarding the portrayal of the country and people in it. It's just a movie the same negativity arose when Slumdog Millionaire released, people were so upset regarding the portrayal of country and slums but it's just a movie and there's a lot to take from it to enjoy and get entertained.
It's fun to watch and relax on a Friday evening, nothing much.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Thoroughly enjoyable
Last night I've seen this movie and can't wait to write a review on IMDb. Not even a single dull moment through out the film. Theater was filled with full of laughs and claps. Intense action sequences, amazing visual effects, artistically crafted alien creatures, the humor which makes your face hurt, captivating story telling and a slight touch of emotions are pros of this movie.
Since it's a sci-fi and time-loop movie I thought story line would be very complex to understand and the repetitive scenes would bore me but as it turns out, the story line is gripping, suspenseful, intense and easily understandable and they took good care of repetitive scenes which are extremely funny.
I don't have to talk about Tom Cruise 'cause he's the beast of action movies and Emily Blunt is very good as per usual and great work by Doug Liman.
I bet in the last fifteen minutes, your jaws would drop with amazement and I felt that 1hr 50 minutes have quickly passed, I wish this movie is bit more longer and to my surprise the post credits song is super freaking cool. Don't miss it.
Albatross (2011)
Albatross totally surprised me.
I watched this film without any expectations, in the end, I got exactly what I wanted. Albatross might not be a masterpiece but it certainly has become one of my favorites. I wonder why Comedy isn't added in this film's genre 'cause I found most of the dialogues comical.
As everyone saying, there is no exaggeration about Jessica Brown Findlay's acting, she was adorable and the other characters including 12 year old and old guys acted very fine.
Humans make mistakes but realizing those and not repeating them is the important part. If you find someone feeling very low then you say any random thing just to cheer him up. Similarly, sometimes our parents lie to us too, not with the intention to hurt us but to inspire us and make us discover the hidden talents within. This is what I understood from the film.
So, I give this movie 10 out of 10 'cause I totally loved it.
Blue Valentine (2010)
I became a fan of Ryan Gosling after watching this movie.
Where can I start about this movie? You want me to start about the great performances by the actors? or the skillful directing? or the masterful writing?
I was dumbfounded right after watching this movie. In fact I wondered, why didn't Ryan gosling get nominated for the Oscar but Michelle Williams did.
While watching this movie, I didn't get entertained but I savored the reality which I was viewing on the screen. I'm fully moved. What I loved most in this movie is the character Dean neither raises his voice nor his hand at his wife but respects her with profound sincerity. He makes mistakes but never let go of his family.
The director portrayed beautifully about the most common problems which arise between a man and wife and how they overcome those problems. Apart from this, I totally loved the chemistry between Dean and Cindy before marriage. This movie includes some sweet moments and some bitter moments as well. I'm 23 and single and If I ever become a husband then I wanna be like Dean(The character in this movie).
