Similarities and differences with the other Veronica
30 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There is no way to talk about these movies, the two Veronicas, without spoilers. Interestingly enough, they share a common twist at the end. Plus, they are both weak before that point. I think this one in particular is weak due to the characters lacking depth and development. Given the minimal amount of characters in the film, the sin is dire. The plot has some holes on top of that. But the end, I think, is strong and interesting. The fact that the original screenplay had male characters and then they just switched their genders shows. The story is harder to believe as it was shot, perhaps because it is a very rare occurrence that needs a deeper explanation in the case of women, on account of how rare it is, in my opinion.

Not as bad as some people say
20 October 2017
Yes, it has bad CGI and the acting and costume-work are not the best at times. But, if you've read the comics and are willing to use your imagination a little to fill in on those details, the show is pretty fun to watch. I find the story entertaining and the themes interesting. The original comic weaves too many story lines in my opinion and the TV show decided to take a different route, presumably based on the failed movie. I think the story and concepts are solid. Character design and CGI, due to budget constraints, are understandably this show's shortcomings.

A bad Cantinflas flick
10 February 2016
Cantinflas has good movies but this isn't one of them. The jokes aren't funny, there is no plot, no moral, and on top of that, the movie title is misleading. Maybe Cantinflas was at a point where he would be successful whatever rubbish he did because he was famous? I can't be sure, but his otherwise hilarity-ensuing cleverish loquaciousness is just a shadow in this film with a lack of luster and funniness.

If you want to see a good Cantinflas flick, start with the first one, dubbed "You're Missing the Point" or better dubbed "There's the Rub", where his true character comes alive. Some of his later work is also worthy of watching, so it may not have been a popularity issue but a mere dud. Whatever the reason, "A day with the devil" is a waste of time for anyone other than a Cantinflas fanboy.

A many-layered masterpiece
8 February 2015
This is a very short movie for all the content it packs. It feels like several movies at the same time, and it execution is flawless. One of the film's dimensions is its spiritual world, barely touched in the film which only gives us hints of this world through bizarre dialogue and the creatures that are the namesake of the film. Another of its dimensions is its discussion on female desire: a subject rarely explored in film and for which alone it deserves praise. It even explores, in yet further dimensions, female psychology, gender roles, and society's view on them. This is also, undoubtedly, an erotic film, and a very good one at that, which is rare for erotic films, which tend toward sleaziness and pseudoporn. As an erotic film it focuses on desire and fantasy, not arousal and gratification. It features interesting characters, good dialogue and plot, intertwining its multitude of dimensions. In 100 minutes or less, with so many layers on it, the film has no time for gratuitous sex shots.

This movie is amazing... seriously
24 December 2014
I just don't get all the hatred this movie has. It is disturbing, creepy, unpredictable (to me at least it was) and Lohan acts well, all good things for a good thriller. Not only entertaining, the shots are nice, the music is eerie and there are so many elements to it that make me want to watch it again and again. Would it have been a better film without Lindsay Lohan in it? Probably, but that's just because it would make it less predictable for those who couldn't suspend disbelief while watching the movie. Some of the scenes are hard to watch, Black Swan style, other's reminded me of Mulholland Drive. If you're looking for a run-of-the-mill (even a B) horror movie or seeing Lindsay Lohan get naked, move along. This is more of a surreal suspensy quirky awesome little gem that apparently few can appreciate. Why? Beats the hell out of me.
