Dear John (2010)
If you want to like this movie, skip the book! If you want to like the book, skip the movie!
I recently read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks and was so excited that it was a movie. Within the first 5 minutes I could see where it was going and it was very disappointing. The movie failed to capture the sweetness, tenderness and joy of John and Savannah's relationship. It also failed to portray their characters as they were in the book. The book was so beautiful and moving that had the director chosen to stay true to the story, it could have been magical on the screen as well. They were so out of character at the ending because the movie didn't end like that. He also never broke up with her in the book, no matter how hopeless it seemed. He lived for her all the years they were apart, even across the sea at war. There were so many inconsistencies with the book. I really cannot recommend this movie. Leave it to Hollywood to take something perfect and ruin it.
Labor Pains (2009)
Personal life and mistakes aside...
Lindsay Lohan delivers a great performance in The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, and now Labor Pains. This is a REALLY smart and funny film--well worth seeing and far better than the usual comedic maternity genre. Rest of cast is excellent, as well. Haven't heard of Lara Shapiro before, but i want to see anything else she's written or directed. Gold! I have been Team Lindsay for as long as I can remember and this movie just all the more confirms my choice. This is a REALLY smart and hilarious film, I think it would have done wonders had it been given an actual theatrical run. However I love this film never-the-less. A great watch primarily for women of all ages, but it will also serve as a perfect "date night" movie. No more "Pains" for Lindsay Lohan...she is back in business!
Mostly Ghostly: Who Let the Ghosts Out? (2007)
this was a fun, entertaining film to watch. i recommend it highly
After the poor reviews, I waited for DVD, expecting very little. But Ali Lohan had impressed me in her sheer ability to carry a bad movie by sheer talent. Here again Lohan doesn't disappoint, still managing to hold you captive with a screen presence that just doesn't quit, even when the writing or directing is not that great. The movie was funny and just slapstick enough to strain - but not break - credibility (once you accept the whole premise). I liked it for fun and enjoyment; I might even buy it. It also serves to remind us that Ali Lohan is only one good role away from an Oscar-winning performance. Pettis and Beaumon are excellent as well. I am surprised by the complete trouncing by the critics. I think it is possible that critics -and a great deal of the public - get 'mud-colored glasses' on when they smell blood in the water - as with Ali's sister Lindsay, Nicole Richie, and anyone else who appears vulnerable. They may love-to-hate, but I do know I very much enjoyed watching Ali Lohan act in this movie.
Backwoods (2008)
One of the BEST horror films I've seen in a long time...
this is a good movie to watch with a bunch of friends. It's not extremely scary just a bunch of suspenseful moments. It's not really the type of movie that will make you say that was so scary. more like man that was so awesome. plus Haylie Duff is fine as hell. Anyways i recommend at least renting this movie its pretty fun. There were times when you knew what was going to happen (like in most movies), but it still scared me at times! The ending was really good too. I can't wait this director come up with another movie in this gender. I definitely..Look for his next movie in the further for sure!, don't miss it!! A+
The Last Song (2010)
The best love story since Titanic! ;)
This film stars Miley Cyrus as Ronnie and Liam Hemsworth as Will. The film is funny, sad and thought provoking all at the same time. It sends out a brilliant message that anyone can relate to. It is the best love story I have ever seen and it deserves to be remembered as the best love story ever and an excellent film for a father who wants to reconnect with his children. Much better than Titanic and a movie I will be sharing with others. This is my new favorite movie! I can't wait until it comes out on DVD. My boyfriend and I cried so much through this movie. We were still crying as we walked outside of the theater! And we don't normally cry about a movie!!
