Divergent (2014)
Poor adaptation trying to cater to kids instead of teens/adults
I understand not keeping things 100% the same in book to film adaptations, especially if they're not integral parts to the plot or if they don't translate well to screen, but many of the things that were suspenseful in the book were completely removed or trimmed away to help get that pg 13 rating and while sometimes less can be more, it certainly wasn't in this case as much of the gravitas and suspense being removed and trimmed away as well, there was not even any lack of urgency until the film was partly in it's second half.
I also feel like somethings should have been explained better for those who hadn't read the books. For instance in the film and even the trailer we see the character Tori tell Beatrice that "you're divergent, the test didn't work on you" but in no point of the film do they really explain why the initial test didn't pan out, I mean we see how Beatrice manipulates the tests later on even in the trailer ("this isn't real"/breaks the glass) but we never get the reasoning why she tested for multiple factions thus being divergent
All You Need is Love: Meine Schwiegertochter ist ein Mann (2009)
A great film
First off, I'd like to say that I'm not voting 10/10 not because I think it's the best film of all time. It's because it's one of the few gay themed films I've seen that wasn't a major production like Broke Back Mountain, that is actually decent and is a film that I'll probably watch again.
Everything about the movie is believable and like-able. The gay characters are not just a walking collection of stereotypes, and the actors do their job well enough that you actually believe the characters love each-other.
The reaction of the parents and the townsfolk exactly what you might expect from small mountain town in Bavaria, which is a nice change in setting for a gay themed film which would usually take place in a city with lots of clubs.
Asides the drama, the film is filled with some great humor and is really more of a romantic comedy than a drama. But if you're going to try and find this online, because you didn't buy a copy, beware, because if you don't understand German and need subtitles, there are several online versions floating around with inaccurate subtitles, in which much of the humor is lost, and even some elements of the plot become lost as well.
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
The only thing scary about is the bad script and graphics
The only thing scary about is the bad script and graphics. And when I say bad graphics I truly mean bad, I was utterly shocked that someone coming off a major franchise like Spiderman could not find the funding or technology to have decent graphics, especially in 2009.
The story predictable and full of bad scripting and plot holes, such as in the end, unless you have never seen any film or play, or never even read a book, it's almost certain that you'd figure out the main character grabbed the wrong envelope before she got out of the car.
Don't watch this unless you have to

The Last Airbender (2010)
Where was Nickelodeon?/ REBOOOT! REBOOT!!! REBOOOT!!!!!!!!!
When I heard M Night Shamaylan was doing this film last year I was worried, I had just seen the epic failure that is "The Happening," but then I thought to myself that this is the same guy who did the "Sixth Sense" I even like "The Village" and even thought that "signs" and "Unbreakable" were OK. I even thought that since he wasn't the one creating the story there was no way this could go bad...
Boy was I ever wrong.
The entire first half of the movie made me cringe, the only thing that gave me the ability to stay.
Almost everything in the movie was bad, from the scripting to the the majority of the casting. If you had no knowledge of the story you'd be utterly lost in this film, and while many actors did decent jobs in this film, many didn't(the girl who plays Katara for example).
The special effects were decent but not as good as they should be for a budget that ended up costing what the entire trilogy was supposed to have.
My main question is, where was Nickelodeon during all this? For however bad of a director Shamaylan might be, Nickelodeon still had the rights to this, they are the ones who greenlit the project and approved of the scripte, etc. Is there anyone working at Nickelodeon's studios with even half a brain?
Shamaylan has a contract for 2 more movies, but I hope that Nickelodeon has enough sense to find away to scrap any plans for sequels and just reboot the series in a few years to save the franchise's integrity. And if they can't, find away to scrap shamaylan and have the shows writers and creators write up some new scripts or at least edit through whatever shamaylan wrote
