Kim spent her younger school years in choir and band, although most of the time she participated in athletics. She played basketball, softball, and ran track. She was a rower at The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a major in Kinesiology and minor in Biology. Her goal was to be a Physical Therapist, but her interest was more with film.
In 2005, after living in New Zealand, Kim moved to New York City. It was there that she rekindled her love of writing. Tank wrote her first short script as a teenager, and didn't take it more seriously until her late 20's.
Tank's first feature-length screenplay was a thriller. Since, Tank has written more thrillers, science fictions, romantic comedies, TV pilots, and horror scripts. In between screenwriting, Tank has produced shorts, music videos, and movies. She also moderates panels, hosts New York City screenwriting meetings which have included the Black List, and is working on a podcast.

StartUp (2016)
Interesting then Cliche
Black gangs, white suits. Sex in the first Scene. All of these cliches bore me. The actor with the dark skin is the gang kingpin and the guy with the white collar money is indeed, white.
Perhaps I'm just tired is seeing this over and over again, which perpetrates racism in our society. I suppose the bigger issue more about how a script like this gets greenlit over more original content that tells a different story. However, this is pre-BLM.
The premise was interesting, and after I watched the first two episodes - I got the point.
The Smart Money Woman (2020)
Funny.
The culture is on point, and I get a lot of laughs. It's great to see black women as the main - so refreshing - although what would be more refreshing and powerful is to see black women rock their natural hair. The wigs are dialing the black girl magic a little down.
But the production is great, and I enjoy the dynamics of the characters.
Emma (2009)
Not the Emma I imagined but it's a tough job.
Because this version received higher ratings, I had great expectations and decided to give this a go.
The production is beautiful. I also do think that this story deserves more than just 90 minutes so I am grateful for the series allowed for relationships to form, and the plot to thicken. The narrative at the beginning was a nice touch I keeping explaining the early lives of the 3 main people that will affect everything at the end.
However, I would have loved if Mr. Knightley's feeling for Emma be a big reveal as it did in the end (and as it did it in Clueless.)
I didn't imagine Emma's dad to be as negative and worrisome as this version. I also would have liked Emma to be way more sassier, and a bit stuck up early on as she did in the book. The character arc is that she became more humble in the end. The other female characters didn't seem prominent enough.
I suppose it's hard to adapt such a book, so this is the best version I have seen - however there were some misses for me.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Grabs my heart strings.
I haven't watched this since I was a kid. The shots are so cute and beautiful that you can't take your eyes away. The film seems silly but makes you believe. The NASA workers coming in as zombie are one of many funny scenes.
If I ended up crying like a 38 year old baby, I guess it deserves a 10. Thanks for being such an inspiration Spielberg!
Basketball Wives (2010)
Funny it sad
Malaysia is my least favorite. She's the tackiest but wants to call out other people's fashion. Horrible wigs. Thirsty. Lost.
Tammi (sp?) is funny and is working on herself as a woman. She seems real and open. The only saving grace.
Shawnie doesn't mind when other women fight with each other and call each other out, but it's off the table when they call her out. That's confusing to me (but I guess you can't confront the boss - but then why be on the show?)
Evelyn has temper issues, and I can tell she is trying to work on it but she can vile towards our own. Just listen and try to understand?
Mostly this show is a lot of bullying, and anger. If you watch, please know this does not at all represent black women. I watch as a laugh (that's horrible I know! However I understand the difference between reality and fake.)
Em (2008)
Great film about mental illness
The two characters in the film have a strong love for each other but they struggle with the shadow of mental illness. This film is very well written, usually it's hard to watch such a drama but it's balanced out with the good things in the couple's relationship and why they try so hard to make it work. This should be something everyone should see especially since most of us know someone living under these conditions. It's an honest shot of what that person encounters from day to day.
The actors are also absolutely amazing - relatively unknown, though they have more talent than any I've ever watched.
Must see.
