Very fun and entertaining film!
4 November 2011
I saw this movie in Savannah at the Film Festival. I really enjoyed this movie from start to finish. After the movie the Director did a Q&A which answered the few problems I had to the film which I can be forgiving for. It starts out with a foreign feel with lots of natural lighting and some poor sound clips taking the performance away from the actors. But as the movie progresses and you build a relationship with the characters the movie gets more and more precious. The director was very fortunate to have the actors and actresses to work with for her first film as a director. Milla's performance really is outstanding throughout telling you the story of her travels and struggles to win her boy back.

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this film at the Savannah Film Festival before a feature film that wasn't comparable to this. I was happy to see this short being a 35mm film even though it was projected HDCAM it still preserved it's beauty... Short simple story about a pilot in a plane flying through the north Atlantic talking to someone via cb radio. I really enjoyed this film and it looked great. I wish that all short films could be as awesome as this film was. I haven't seen a film that has such an innocent fun loving feel to it in a long time. The director of this film should make a feature similar to this film because it's just that great. Everything from story plot to sound design to cinematography was just phenomenal and I hope this film maker makes a ton more films like this.

Great documentary!

This documentary exceeded my expectations. I at first was a little worried about seeing this movie with a name such as "last call at the oasis". But the flow of the story with superb cinematography and good sound really kept me GLUED to my seat. With special appearances by a few well known celebrities I really felt that those made the movie go from good to great. The movie started out scaring me but than started to humor me. I really enjoyed how they had a special appearance from Erin Brokivich and included parts of the narrative film to help viewers get the idea of what they were saying. Although I did really enjoy this film, after seeing the solution they came up with to solve our problems... I feel that we are still hopeless. But the film itself was seriously wonderful and if this documentary isn't one of the most successful documentaries out there I will be extremely surprised. Way better than Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth and in my opinion even more affective than food inc.

Wonderful Directing.

I saw this movie at the Savannah Film Festival in Georgia. The director was there to talk briefly about this film. He mentioned that the hardest part of this film was using non actors who were actually from the locations used in the film. This being said the fact that this movie uses real people as their actors is astonishing to me. I enjoyed the story of this young boy having to follow in his fathers shoes. It's a fun movie with a simple story line and a fun adventure that takes you to an element that isn't seen very often in movies in the north part of Green Land. Cinematography was decent a few things that bugged me such as the night scenes weren't lit very well (if at all) and some out of focus shots here and there. But for being an independent feature I can forgive those things.

I saw this movie at the Savannah Film Festival in Georgia today... Going in I thought this movie would be just another holocaust movie. But it was more than just a holocaust movie the story which is based off a true story told the story of people who regardless of race are escaping from their deaths by hiding in a sewer throughout the war. I was amazed by how this movie could keep my attention throughout as seeing that it's just a group of people hiding underground but it did. It's a long movie but entertaining throughout. The story embraced these poor individuals and showed their struggles and I was amazed by the acting. I was also amazed by all the challenges that they had gone through to produce this movie and my thought of how stressful it would be to be on a set like this. As a young cinematographer myself, I was impressed by the lighting and the picture overall that was produced. I'm dying to know what lenses they used for such a beautiful film. For attending this film and not being from Georgia I heard some positive and some negative feedback from other attendees of the film. Some people had a little struggle of how long the movie was... But in my eyes I feel that it's important for the movie to be longer because these people are in a tunnel for over a year and are struggling to survive.
