Strays (2023)
Disgustingly Low-Class
Envision a group of street dogs who have all been displaced by bottom-of-the-barrel owners, who talk like uneducated humans whose every other word is mother-f&^%ing, d!@k, f&^k, an worse. Now dub in some low-life human voices who sound as though they just stepped out of a maximum security prison, and you have the makings of this so-called, "movie." It's bad enough that humans/people talk like this, but to put this excrement in the voices of dogs, is just too low-class to tolerate. If I could give this movie a zero instead of one star, I would do so. I am disgusted at myself for wasting $26 to buy two tickets for this movie; what a wasted of money and time. And to think that Dennis Quaid made a cameo appearance in this trashy movie, is just totally bewildering to me. But it is not at all surprising to hear that Jamie Foxx is one of the dog voices in this "movie", since he pretty much talks like trash in his real life, as well. If I were to take out a personal video camera and walk the streets filming dogs, and then spend 10 minutes dubbing over their barks with human trashy voices, I could have replicated this flick for a lot less money, I'm sure.
The Fabelmans (2022)
This is a Yawner
I really tried to stay interested in the long, yawning tale with no climatic point whatsoever. It's a long yarn about a young Jewish boy growing up in a disjointed family, who longs to make movies for a living. There were a few interesting minutes. But save your money, and wait for it to come out on Netflix. The recanting of his long-lost uncle who worked in the Circus, his Mother's eccentric fascination with her husband's best friend, and his struggles with rude, anti-Semitic boys in school held some interesting points, but it is hardly worth enduring almost three hours of the same daily struggles we all went through as kids.
Tár (2022)
Boring
I can't believe I wasted $24 for my Wife and I to see this "movie". It started off with a list of film credits before the "movie" even started, which is ridiculous in itself. Why would you want to see the list of producers, writers, etc. Before you even know if you liked/enjoyed the movie?! This followed with about 15 minutes of a boring on-stage interview which had no point at all. We suffered through about 30 minutes of this movie before we finally decided to leave. Horrible, Horrible waste of time and money. I was severely disappointed because I really have a lot of admiration for Kate Blanchett. She's an incredible actress, in my humble opinion. But her character in this role is a self-absorbed, maniacal, egotistical conductor who is just portrayed in such a monotone, boring way, that we really felt so betrayed and bored, we just couldn't stand to sit still for this "documentary-style" movie for more than minutes.
Bullet Train (2022)
Horrible
What a ridiculous excuse of a movie. A bunch of assassins with horrible English accents, all trying to kill each other for a briefcase of money. The plot is stupid, tiring, and just plain boring. Plus to add insult to injury, they attempt to make killing people humorous, which it is not. I can't believe I wasted $26 for me and my Wife to watch this ridiculous crap.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
One Of The Worst
This was one of the worst excuses for a movie that I have seen in the last five years. The dialogue was idiodic, the acting subpar, and the plot............well there was no plot.
Downton Abbey (2010)
Too Foofy
I knew before my Wife and I went to see this one, but it was not our type of movie. But it was still a good escape to get out for the evening. For us personally, that English accents were way too strong, and the plot was just too slow-moving.
Dog (2022)
Poorly Executed
Unfortunately this was a really poorly executed attempt at drawing animal lovers into a unstructured, poorly-written plot. The movie wandered aimlessly at Channing Tatum trying to talk to his military rescue dog in a very hap-hazard manner. Very sad execution and delivery of a monologue that unfortunately indicated that Channing knew nothing about dogs, or how to talk to them. Save your money, for a better-written movie.
F9 (2021)
Most Ridiculous
This movie had no followable plot whatsoever. All of a sudden you have Don's long lost brother zip-lining all across London being portrayed as a villan. Suddenly they are all using a hyiper-magnet in their cars to destroy the following enemies' cars. Then they launch a car with a rocket strapped on the top of it, into outer-space to stop the villan's plan to destroy the World.......... I guess. It is absolutely the most ridiculous movie I have seen in the last 10 years. When Don and his girlfriend are being pursued and shot at by 5 vehicles which are all firing rapid-fire machine guns at them, no one gets hit, gets a scratch, or has a tire-blow-our, or even a scratch on their face. How totally unbelievable, and utterly stupid. ..... Total waste of money to see this "movie".
All I See Is You (2016)
Wonderful Site Locations
I'm still trying to figure out where they filmed the scene of them kayaking below cliffs in Spain. Also, where is the cliff-side hotel with glass walls located?
The Great Wall (2016)
Ridiculous
My Wife and I both thought this movie was completely ridiculous; monsters and dragons attacking the Great Wall of China? Really?! Who wrote this piece of crap? I cannot believe that an accomplished actor such as Matt Damon, wasted his time with this script. Don't waste your money or your time on this one.
The Martian (2015)
Could have\should have been better
While the plot and special effects were gripping and spectacular, the mood of Matt Damon's character made the movie very unrealistic. I cannot fathom anyone being left millions of miles away from home on a planet with no breathable atmosphere, being so positive and jovial. I found his video monologue messages back to Earth, to be so void of any fear or apprehensiveness regarding his dire situation, that it was next to impossible to believe. It's an entertaining movie worth watching, but better script writing would have greatly enhanced this movie's credibility. There were other believability issues with this movie as well. Jeff Daniels' performance as the Director of Nasa, also left me with inconvincible notions. His portrayal came across as over-confident, non-charismatic, nonchalant, and pompous. Overall, more work should have been devoted to the script, not just the special effects.
Lockout (2012)
Funky Editing, echo soundtrack, and B- acting
This movie was disappointing. The beginning rushes into the plot with no real build-up that emotionally ties you to any character. The sound has a bizarre echo to it, which was irritating as well. While the premise of a prison in orbit around the Earth is creative, the movie lacks maturity in the editing and acting. Throughout the entire movie, I had a feeling that they must have filmed everything in a hurry, and edited everything very quickly. The camera work style of using the shaky-move-around shooting (even though it was slight) was agitating and distracting. What could have been an excellent movie, ended up as a big disappointment. It certainly was not worth the price of admission.
New Year's Eve (2011)
A Good, Overall Seasonal "Comfy" Movie to see before New Years!
I have to start off by asking, "GOD, what the HELL has happened to Michelle Pfieffer?!" Michelles looks 65 or 70 yrs old in this movie! I used tot think she was such a "hottie", but she looks horrible in this movie. The closeups told the story with her; hard life, the last few years.
Overall, the movie gives a melange of relationships that meet, work, reconcile, begin, end, and finally find their way as the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 ring into the New Year.
The Star-Studded cast alone, makes this movie worth seeing. ...........But please, MICHELLE PFIEFFER; take a few dollars of all those billions you have earned, and get some plastic surgery!!!! There is no reason for you to look so old!!! And STOP referring to yourself as being so "old" or "twice your age" in a movie; it's absolutely pathetic!!!
The Rum Diary (2011)
No Real Plot or Climactic Point
While there were some interesting moments in The Rum Diary, the plot did not develop any climax during the entire film. In fact, much of the footage wound around a depressing cycle of excessive drinking, wasted lives, and characters who had no one in the World who seemed to care about them. Even worse, the film leaves the audience in a state of not really caring about the characters. Johnny Depp is a formidable actor, but this was definitely not one of his best roles. My wife fell asleep on my shoulder, less than 20 minutes into the movie, which pretty much says it all. We both love going to the movies, but we really had to strain ourselves to find moments in the film that truly held our attention for any length of time. Some of the scenery of the Caribbean islands in the film offered beautiful glimpses of a life that the characters unfortunately, were not able to truly appreciate.
Tower Heist (2011)
Twists and Turns
Tower Heist was very entertaining. Most of all, it was nice to finally see Ben Stiller do a role that was not strictly a comedic character in a film. The film had does have some very funny and surprising moments. The final third of the movie offers many surprises that were personally not expected. It was also good to see Eddie Murphy return to a worthwhile role in a new film. He plays the part of a hilarious, back-stabbing, tough character, who wraps up his attitude with a genuine, supportive friend with the group of "get justice" supporting characters. This was a film worth watching, and we both left with a positive feeling after watching this movie.
