The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009)
The Biggest Disappointment Ever
I had watched the trailer of The Men Who Stare at Goats a while ago in the cinema & I really thought it might be the greatest comedy this year. I just couldn't wait 'till the movie comes out. Every time I want to the cinema, I saw the trailer & I simply freaked out. I was so excited that I could hardly watch the movie that came after the trailer...and then, one day...BAM! I watched the movie, I watched The Men Who Stare at Goats. And that's all, I simply watched it. I just went through it the way you eat your meal while looking at the fascinating dessert every 5 seconds, all the time I just wanted it to end so I could find something more useful to do than watching the worst comedy I had watched for the last few months. The movie is...uhm...stupid? Yeah, it's simply & clearly STUPID. The jokes are lame, the story is stupid & they overacted with all that Jedi-warrior crap. I can hardly believe that the movie actually made some people laugh, because I saw only few really funny scenes & they were not that good at all. Possibly I wasn't in the mood for that movie, but still, it was a huge disappointment & I never believed it could be so bad. Was it because of my huge expectations or because of the huge promises they gave me with the trailer, I don't know, but I didn't enjoy the movie at all. My suggestion is not to expect anything from this movie & it might actually satisfy you, but still, I think you should pass if you have anything good for watching.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)
This movie looks...familiar...
Hmm... Where should I begin? Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is a great movie. I really enjoyed every single second of it. The effects were awesome, the story was good, the idea of using the Olympians in such a movie was fascinating. But all the time I couldn't get away from the feeling that I'm watching a Harry Potter movie. We had Percy - a kid, who has huge powers, which he doesn't even know about. One day he's just taken away to a camp to train himself in using those powers. We also have Grover who represents Ron Weasley & Annabeth - awesome battle strategic & great fighter, which makes her the great "student" in the camp, which Hermione used to be in Hogwarts. And on the top of it we have Chiron, who could easily be Dumbledore. Yes, the story in this movie is completely new & unknown to us, but most of us already know the characters, & I didn't really like that. I want to see a whole new group of characters, not just the old ones in new clothes...
Wrong Side of Town (2010)
Too predictable & simple...
Yeah, what more can I say. This movie was stupid. The story was sooo not interesting that bore almost killed me. I could predict every single move they made and that's not what I want from a movie. When I saw that Dave Batista & Rob van Dam are actors in this movie I could already say what's going to happen. Making films like this makes no sense at all to me, as the movie wasn't good action either. We even saw something like a wrestling match during one of the fights. This movie is crap. Not worth watching, not worth paying for it either. I mean, the story is simple, there are like no real effects, the actors are just few wrestlers, and it is just some stupid boring action, who the hell would ever want to watch that, huh???
Beyond Sherwood Forest (2009)
A good movie for me.
Even though a lot of people didn't like the movie (probably because of their huge expectations for Robin Hood's new adventure) I'm glad to say that I liked the movie. I didn't say any problems with the acting (mentioned by some other people) & most of the effects looked good (except for some of the wounds). The story was kinda too short & simple. I think they could've made it a bit more complicated & exciting. It might have not pleased the people who really expected much from the movie, but it was definitely not a waste of time for me. I liked that movie & I highly recommend it to everyone. I think people shouldn't read the crappy reviews, written by most people & just watch the movie & see for themselves. :-)
