The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019)
A must see for dog lovers
A story about a dog's life from start to end and then some. If you're a dog lover like me, it will touch your heart. Kevin Costner's narrative was really good, he did a fabulous job. The acting was good, the story was great, but keep the tissues nearby. I absolutely loved this movie.
Misfit Garage (2014)
It really grows on you
I've just finished watching the second season of Misfit Garage and I find I want more. I'm hoping there is a third season in the making sometime soon. I love watching Fast N Loud but like another reviewer mentioned, it has become the "Richard" show. Less about cars and more about Richard. Thomas, Tom and Jordan are great. More like the old FnL, more about the cars and less about Richard, who does his Executive Producer cameos in many episodes. Scott (well, what can I say?), I didn't really miss when he spat his dummy and left. I get the feeling that the big "split" between Tom, Jordan and Richard was all for the show. They still seem to be very friendly on screen. If there was a real split resulting in Tom and Jordan being sacked, I couldn't see Richard having the relationship he has with them. Was it a case of, "Let's do a spin-off, I'll sack you guys, you start a new show in competition to FnL and we'll make more television". I loved Little Richard, definitely a star in the show.
Where Pigeons Go to Die (1990)
A Very Special "Must See" Movie
I saw this movie on TV many years ago and had the good fortune to record it on VHS tape. This is one of my all time favorite movies ... no violence, drugs, or murder .... just a plain and simple family movie about the special relationship between a boy and his grandfather. The scene in which the boy's father shaves his own Dad is so moving. I can relate to that on a personal level, having the privilege of doing the same for my Dad following a stroke so many years ago. If you get emotional at movies, this may be one for you. A definite rainy Sunday afternoon movie curled under the blanket with a box of tissues in reserve. I have no idea why this hasn't been released on DVD before now.
The High Chaparral (1967)
High Chaparral, what a marvelous series
Here we are 40 years down the track and I've just discovered this series. I was a young lad during the first runs of the show and too busy growing up to spend time watching too much TV.
A couple of months ago I discovered The High Chaparral listed in my Pay TV guide and decided to give it a go. I had recently become interested in westerns of that era and had never seen an episode of High Chaparral until then. Much to my surprise I was instantly hooked on the series and have become a big fan. Lucky for me, today I'm still enjoying brand new episodes of this fantastic show. Such great entertainment. I'm so glad I found this show, it would have been so sad to have lived my life and never experienced it.
