Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Missed the spot at the very end
Watching a movie in which so many characters viciously die and the movie itself raises great question: is one life worth more than the other- you expect the movie to answer this question or at least make you wonder about it at the very end. However, this movie does no such a thing. At the very end when Ryan is visiting captain's grave, it should be clear that Ryan's life was "worth" all the deaths that we have witnessed along the way, but no. Ryan asks his old wife of he's a good man and if he had led a good life. Beeeeeep! WRONG QUESTION! He should have asked if he was worth saving. He should have shown that he was worth all the loss along the way, that saving him was so much worth than just seeing his family and him being old. So they misses the spot that the movie was aiming all the time, got me disappointed at the very end.
However, directing, photography, drama and actors were all perfect all the way, no wonder why awards came running.
Out of Blue (2018)
Bad cake full of amazing ingredients
This movie is like buying the best ingredients and making an awful cake of it.
Actors are fine.
The plot line is interesting and promising.
They grab some very fascinating and potent subjects like Existence and absurdity of life, Schrödinger's cat, stardust...
The twist is there.
But put all together it simply does not work.
Looking Glass (2018)
What's with a pig and what did he want from Cage's wife and him at the end?
Not everything fell in place for me at the end: for instance, what's with the oig in the pool? Why would a sheriff do that (ok to scare off Cage, but whyyy scare him off at all?!) and what did he want from Cage's wife in the room all tied up at the end waiting for him to come back? And what did that Domino Lady have to do with the whole story and sheriff being the murderer? Can somebody please explain this?
