Mortal Kombat (2021)
An acceptable Mortal Kombat Movie
It was fine for what it was. On one hand great fight scenes, great choreography, R-rated gore. On the other hand meh story and meh characters. Now don't get me wrong. As someone who grew up with Mortal Kombat games and loves the cheesiness of the 90s MK movie, I absolutely love this. I was never expecting this to be an intricate movie experience. I got exactly what I was expecting. The characters apart from Sub-Zero and Scorpion and very little to know development, and Cole Young wasn't really needed, but I got what I wanted from the movie. Can they actually make a better sequel? Hard to know.
Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
A guilty pleasure!
Yes, Tranformers are back, but with a whole new twist. After the third movie, they decided to cash in on the franchise's money making ability. So how does it work? To simply put, this is a visual extravaganza. The plot is not bad, but the execution could've been better. There are new Decepticons for you, so there's that. If you're looking for 3 hours of explosions and giant robots trying to kill each other, this movie is for you. It starts a little slow but the pace picks up real quick, followed by lots of chases, lots of battle scenes and loads of explosion. CGI is really impressive though few parts seemed unfinished or rough.
Do not expect a very logical or deep storytelling. It turned out to be a guilty pleasure which I'll keep in collection whenever I want to see cool visuals and grand explosions!
Skyline (2010)
Unbearable
This was complete waste of time. Went to watch it with friends and came out laughing hard. I mean there was no sense at all. These movies show that why CGI cannot make a complete movie. For the first time, I was hoping that we have a clichéd tech in the movie who can tell us what was really going on..poor in all sense. Because the review needs to be of 10 lines at least...I'll have to write more than what was there in the movie script itself. I don't rate a movie low ever but this one is an exception. Don't watch it. Not even on DVD. Complete waste.Save your money and do something worthwhile. Even the aliens look like Collectors from Mass Effect 2.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009)
Typically Bollywood but enjoyable
Well, the kind of movies bollywood is churning out these days, I wasn't expecting much. There is nothing new about the story, but if you want to have some fun, you can watch this movie one time at least. Ranbir was very good and his comic timing was good. Katrina was very average. Other characters did justice to their roles. Not much to talk about in this movie, but some good laughs are surely there.
One thing I must say is Katrina is still struggling with both her acting and Hindi. Seriously, no Christian girl talks like that.
And Upen Patel was spoiling the humor in the movie.
For Ranbir fans, this is a good movie to watch.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Lots of action and CGI effects, without a script
Well, after watching the first Transformers movie (and I haven't seen the original Transformers), I was eagerly awaiting the sequel of this franchise. It was utterly disappointing. Sure, the actions were cool, the robots were bigger, Megan Fox was hotter, but the main thing, a script, was missing. I am a big fan of action and great CGI effect movies, but to be honest, at one time I was feeling bored with all the clinging sounds and transformers transforming and transforming and transforming and limitless shooting.
This movie could have been so much better, had a script been worked out. But I would admit, the special effects, though tedious, were very cool and compelling. In some places, Shia LaBeouf's acting looked good. But overall, this movie disappointed me and I am anxious with the third installment in this franchise already being announced. Wait and see how it pans out.
