RocknRolla (2008)

Amazing Underrated film
13 July 2014
Stumbled across this movie while searching for Mark Strong films. I had always thought he was a great actor so I figured I would watch some of his lesser known films. I was surprised by how well the story was written and the cast was simply amazing. Thandie Newton and Gerard Butlers interaction is believable as a "couple". The rest of the cast interact like they had been friends for years prior to making RockNRolla. The film introduced me to Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Toby Kebbell just to name a few of Hollywood current major stars. Guy Ritchie did another outstanding job on this on in line with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Do not miss this movie. You would do well to search out Tom Hardys. And Mark Strongs earlier films.

Great visually
20 July 2013
The movie is pretty good, slow but good. I think it could have been told as a music video. Very little dialogue and lots of ambient music. It does bounce around quite a bit from the story to day dreams/hallucinations but the cinematography is beautiful. The camera tell most of the story and that is the reason for 6 stars. Every time I thought about walking away something visual grabbed me. Ryan Gosling role could have been played by a mute, but the lack of emotion and lines some how fit the character. The mother, Kristin Scott Thomas was very creepy yet amazingly portrayed. I can not be the only person who thought there was some crazy sexual tension going on there a few times. All in all if you have 90 minutes to waste you could do worse.

Great Movie
21 November 2012
I do not know why the other reviewers are being so harsh. I like the original as well, but this one deserved a remake. Bring it more modern and make it more appealing to the younger crowd. I thought the movie was well shot and acted. The action sequences and fight scenes were far better than the original. The drama more though out and acted. With the exception of Peck (who really wasn't that bad), he just seemed forced. They stuck close enough to the original to call it a remake, but they took a different direction on the story to provide a objective. Very well done. 8/10. Seems like everyone is just hating on the remakes for the sake of hating on a remake.

The Hit List (2011)

Very Watchable

I got to sit down and watch this film last night and I must say I was very surprised. I just happened to see it in the bargain bin at the local big box store and have always like Cuba so I bought it.

Cuba did a great job in the movie.

Once the movie got started I realized Cole Hauser was in it, hes the cop from Pitch Black and dad from Paparazzi.

About the film, it is shot very well with some very solid acting. The story itself was good and maintained well through the film. Some of the scenes don't make a lot of since later in the film, like the scene with Mike and Sydney. All in all it was worth 7stars and should be on your watch list.

Dead Set (2008)

Awesome series
28 May 2011
This is a very well written, acted and shot zombie movie. I am fortunate enough to have a co-worker that loves the foreign films and he recommended this after i expressed my love for horror and zombies movie more specific. Great choice for any fellow Americans that might not otherwise see this gem. The zombies are movie quality. The acting coupled with the casting and dialogue make it very easy to watch. I would give 10 starts except it has running zombies and I personally dislike the runners. For the Americans it's like a mix between Dawn of the Dead and The walking dead. Great all around watch, some places have the whole series together in one 2.35minute film and other it broken in 5 25-35 minute blocks as shown on UK TV.

Japanesse Zombies?
28 May 2011
I only just started really paying attention to foreign films. I have seen a few in the past but not really digging in. This film is cool because it is so different from the norm. The acting is good, and while i was watching with subtitles, the dialogue wasn't corny like most of the Japanese films I have seen. The film was doing great until around the last 10-15 minutes then it lost its luster. There are great call backs to Army of Darkness and Bruce Campbell as well as George A. Romero. Fun to watch even if you have to read it, seems like, for me anyway, that i didn't need to read the text the last 30 minutes of the film.

How bad can one movie suck
28 May 2011
I would go 0 for a rating if the site would let me. The English language does not contain the words to describe how bad the film is. This high school film (what it looks like at least) is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Honestly the first 10 minutes of the film started out looking kind of funny like the flash back scenes from Men in Black. Then I realized it was the actual movie. There are like 3-4 zombies that answer to a zombie master, the scene changes are incoherent at best, and the dialogue is terrible. Save the hour and a half, or what ever time you don't waste while not skipping ahead and go watch something else. This one sucks. I write these to save you the trouble and your time.

Amazingly Terrible
15 January 2011
I am sitting here after trying to watch Kinky Killers having to reexamine my trust in IMDb. After about 50 minutes I had to turn it off. I wish I could go back in time and watch paint dry or grass grow, maybe even stick red hot pokers in my eyes. It is written, acted, shot, edited and directed so terribly that I couldn't finish it. The cover and recommendations at the bottom of IMDb appealed to me so I figured why not give it a shot. The cops are over the top tough to the point of being a joke. The "suspects" and lawyers are written to take abuse and act like pricks so the tough cop act will carry but all I could think was WTF every scene. I just can't express how CRAPPY this movie is and I am a horror movie freak and have watch some pretty bad movies but this is over the top bad. Save your money and more so your time and sanity and do something, anything else!
