The Liberator (2020)
Remember those that gave the ultimate measure of devotion...
This is a great story. I would have preferred it wasn't cell shaded, but perhaps that allowed them to tell this important story with a reduced budget. In any case, if you can see past the animation style this is a story everyone should watch, especially on our days of thanks for those that sacrificed all so we could be free.
Jericho (2006)
Great show, bad soundtrack
This show IMO is a perfect example of how music can make or break a show. The soundtrack to this show is occasionally acceptable, rarely gripping and appropriate, and most often terrible. Compared to a show like the Leftovers the difference is obvious.
It is a shame, because the acting and storyline is pretty good, though a bit hectic at times. It was overall a well made show, with an interesting story arc and a generally terrible soundtrack that I believe ruined the show's chances at success.
Would have been a 9 without the bad soundtrack.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Not flawless, but a gem none the less...
This will attempt to be a spoiler free review.
This movie puts forth a powerful moving message, and resonates somewhat with current events. It is quite silly here and there, excusable as it is mostly from the eyes and mind of a young child, but other times it's not as easy to accept.
Personally I feel some of the silliness was misplaced, but this didn't happen that often. I think the film would have been far more powerful with a few tweaks, but if you can see past some of these "over the top" moments the overall message is very moving. Quite a bit of the silliness is due to the child's perspective and conspiracy minded individuals, so those parts are acceptable.
The acting, other than what is mentioned above is superb. I will remember this movie and it's message for quite some time.
I recommend you ignore the critics and give this one a watch.
